I used to train in Goju-ryu many moons ago and when I was a brown belt I trained with Higaonna sensei when he came to the UK. It was an experience I will never forget.
I'm a practitioner of Goju-ryu here in Mexico and I'm currently 8th Kyu. My goal is to become a 10th Dan like Sensei Higaonna and I'm sure someday I'll achieve my goal. Sensei Higaonna is an example to be followed.
@monsterhunter891 It is quite a goal to reach. I admire your spirit. Keep in mind though, from 6th dan and above it is all politics. Meaning, you have to prove yourself and move up the ladder. Higaonna sensei was a 7th dan in his early 30's which is very rare. It just goes to show how much karate is a part of his life. If you hope to be a 10th dan, whatever organization you are a part of will expect the same of you. Not to mention that it can get very competitive.
@monsterhunter891 Continue to train hard, focus. keep that goal in sight. If you are that serious about it you may very well be there someday. I wish you luck
GekiSai Dai Ich 5:48 GekiSai Dai Ni 7:40 amazing power, I have just started GoJu Ryu Karate this year, in August, My Sensei has told me a lot about Morio Higaonna, I am 24years old and from Oamaru New Zealand, have my 1st grading is very soon and this video has really helped, although I am not sure of what he is saying, what he does is a fine example of how this should be done. Very Impressive. =-)
great video! shows that POWER is made from the ground. thank you for uploading it to us. .. bow .. also the conditioning of sensei's hands is extreme . = Ichigeki
AWESOME shows hard blocks and that power is truly made from the ground. is hand condition level looks extreme. BIG OUCH bow thank you very much for the upload!
In my youth I learned Goju Ryu for 6 years in Mumbai (then Bombay) ---- under Sensei Parvez Mistry. I had the honour to see Higaonna San in mid 80's. Sensei Parvez was a god. Higaonna was God.

Those hands have large callouses on them- imagine getting hit by that- I think unless you have iron shirt you will be spitting up blood.
