Cool Video. I'm headed on my first solo road trip. Do you have any advise that you could share? I'm going from Las Vegas to San Diego and then up the Pacific Coast Highway to Canada. I'll be riding my Honda Shadow 750.
@tonyinfinity I've actually recieved plenty of good advice from people that have gone on road trips that post on here. Also I'd say that my solo road trip up the coast was successful, I spent 2 weeks on the road... no break downs or other issues. I wouldn't say that I put 100% faith in what I hear on youtube but anyone with half a brain can weed out the bad ideas.
Thanks a LOT for this vid! Wish cam had been about 10 deg. down so could have seen a few of the things being pointed at, but ended up figuring most out. Can you tell me who the chain oiler's made by?
You should see if you can get your hands on a standand DL1000 seat. Fits right on the 650 and is so much more comfortable. There's no better seat for me.
I think it does, and it helps in the Texas brutal heat. Its basically the same thing all those NY cabbies that have to ride in their calls all day use. Theres also the Alaska sheepskins though that people really like.
I like the video and the set up you have on your bike. I just bought a 2009 vstrom and am looking for things I can do to add onto it. But I know it is going to be a slow process. Where did you get your cigarette outlet and dashboard for the GPS? Did you have to cut the hole to put it in your dash? or did it just replace the plastic piece? (Great looking Bike!)
Its a powerlet outlet on a pat walsh shelf. The GPS has a standard Garmin clip-mount simply taped (strong factory adhesive) to the shelf, and the arm/GPS just clicks into place. A ram-mount w/ a fused hardwire install would probably look cleaner though if doing it again.

Nice info. but I counted at least 28 times you said UMM it gets annoying after a while. I know it's a habit a lot of younger people have while searching for what to say.
that was intentional. I throw drinking parties on Friday nights and we watch my latest vlog and take shots everytime I say "umm". I might phase that out as I make more entertaining vids that don't need booze to make them fun. =)
That list has every farkle I've ever heard of for the Wee... u seem ready to take on the road no matter what the surface or environmental conditions throw at u! :-o :-)

@YoungAmericanOutback If you need to ask advice on youtube then you probably shouldn't be going on any road trips.

¿Do you understand Spanish?. Me gusta mucho tu moto, tio. La tienes llena de accesorios. Yo tengo otra V-Strom en color gris metalizado.

Anal pleasure beads ftw. =) Does it really make the ride more comfortable? If so I'll get one.

What helmet cam do you use? It's nice that you can do narration while you ride and the audio isn't screeching wind noise.

At the time it was just a little old digicam (Panasonic FX35) that can shoot camera that I strapped to the chinpiece.
I use the VadoHD now though, as it can do around 2hrs recording.
Sorry for the late reply, for whatever reason I wasn't getting post notifications on youtube.

The Vado HD looks really nice, I didn't realize it had a microphone. Very cool.

Could you do a vlog on how you've mounted your VadoHD. Do you find that your vado videos are better quality?

Great looking bike. I love the yellow and black.

man nice bike you got some really cool features added on to it. I like the seat beads. I may have to figure something like that out on mine.
DoomXexec311 2 years ago
I got mine from beadrider, but you can just go to walmart and make your own perfectly fit for your bike and just spray paint it black.
Another great option is the Alaska sheep skin covers, which offer the comfort of riding a sheep without the negative social stigma. xD
