Saw them on this tour. I think I was the only guy at the Slayer, Motorhead, Celtic Frost show that bought the Celtic Frost Tshirt. Man I'd love to live that night again.
Haven't heard this song in awhile! I always liked this album alot even tho many folks i know hated it . At least they had the balls too try somehting differnt but hell yeah, the early stuff is the best! Never got into their stuff after this( 'Cold lake" STILL makes me laugh! ) but i dig 'Monotheist' alot! Looking forward too their next opus! Celtic Frost RULES!!!!
@bizchazlien Celtic Frost disbanded unfortunately & this time for good but Tom's new band Triptykon is now afoot & an amazing force of it's own. Eparistera Daimones (debut album? picks up where Monotheist left off & is an even darker, heavier & more experimental venture. Saw them twice on their 1st US Tour (just a few days ago) & hadn't rocked that hard since seeing CF in 2006...
@jamesabilly thanks for the info.! Yeah, i just found out not too long ago about Tom Warriors new band! Pretty cool stuff indeed! Now i need too get off my ass and get their stuff . Always had a lot of respect for that dude . I need too get the Hellhammer collection as well . One of my old fave.s! Thanks again and happy new year man!
Songs like that show the true talent of the musicians, which has nothing to do with mainstream bullshit, magazines, and the press..Outstanding lp..one of the best ever..!!!
Great song--this is my favorite Celtic Frost song! The cover by Grave is pretty decent, too.
I hadn't heard this song until the very early 90's. Thanks to having just seen the movie, I pictured Jame Gumb (Silence of the Lambs) singing this song. Since then the thought stuck. Kinda ruins it and makes it creepier at the same time... :S
The most original but underrated album of all time...Celtic Frost have had a lot of courage to do a so special record, in an age where experiences in metal were unwelcome. For me, songs like "Tristesse de la Lune", "Mesmerized" and "Mexican Radio" are the best in the history of Metal.
The people that didn't get the voice think more of a ghost dance in the land of the dead his voice isn't whiny it's a tormented soullooking back at the travisties of life.
One of the most truly intelligent and ambitious metal bands ever. Their vision was way beyond what their label understood and this album is a masterpiece. They did it all first on this album...orchestra, female vocals (on To Mega Therion, too), a vocal style other than the death grunt, beat sampling...this album was a blueprint for the future of this entire genre. They have never gotten quite the credit they deserve for the doors they opened. LOVE this song!
It's correct (if not 100% inclusive) to say that without Celtic Frost there would have never been such a divisive shift between Death/Doom/Black Metal. Easily, if I had a say in it, of one of the most influential albums ever. Too bad The Deftones covered their sound with Nu-Metal overtones and made all the money CF should have in the mid-late '90s.
i`m totally agree! its a masterpiece. i got my hands on this album 22 years ago, when i listen to it today i think it still kicks, and St Marks drumwork realy inspired me as a drummer
@Marqeteer totally agree one of the most innovative black metal bands ever....Bathory where very good too. Cradle of Filth etc have a lot to be thankful for
@Marqeteer very true. i wasn't a huge fan of all celtic frost stuff but this album is a ripper. probably their high watermark for me. still listen to this a lot.
i looked up rozz williams on here to check him out, and was totally turned off by his faggoty voice. i watched an interview of his band christian death and they probably all fucked eachother.
@UnholyPanda13 Tom is an admitted fan of Christian Death, Sisters of Mercy & Bauhaus among other "goth" bands & was into them in the early mid 80's so you hit it on the head with that assessment. Celtic Frost was such an amazing & diverse band. Far ahead of their time & too cool to survive the trends of the 80's I suppose. Have you heard Triptykon? It's Tom's latest band & is more than a worthy successor to The CF Legacy...
@UnholyPanda13 and here I was gonna say the the talking-kind-of-singing reminded me of Mike Muir's style :p (but the voice itself is probably closer to Rozz Williams ha :p)

Still heavy as hell after all these years! Just wish he had not gone with the whiny vocal style.
The bass line during the pre-chorus is nicely progressive. Love it!
