I think at first WGN had the rights to the Illinois Lottery then WFLD took over before WGN retained the rights.
gtp2day has an Illinois Lottery Drawing from June 7, 1983. I'm pretty sure that aired on WGN, right before WFLD took over. Of course once again, WGN started to air the drawings again in either late 1986 or early 1987.

@Spr463 I heard WBBM had the drawings briefly in the mid-90's, they apparently won the 10pm ratings book around that time. But like before, the drawings ended up going back to WGN.

I would like to know when WGN started broadcasting drawings of the Illinois Lottery. WFLD did a good job but WGN did lottery drawings a lot nicer.

Well, the latest WFLD drawing I've found is from December 26, 1986, so my guess would be sometime in 1987.

That sounds right. I always thought the drawings were WGN until I saw what fuzzymemories had. It was probably early in 1987 when WGN took over.
