I saw this a couple years back, and I wanted to hear a story, all I remembered was that someone who made the "How I met Tex" video was a damn good story teller. Still as enjoyable as the first time I watched this. Kudos my friend. This guy is amazing, the story is amazing and amazingly told.. But I don´t really agree with the message. Who thinks that life may be a tyrant is right, who thinks that love cannot overcome everything is right. However, who believes the opposite is right as well. It´s what one has in his mind that makes the difference, it´s one´s mind that creates one´s reality, it´s our beliefs that make stuff possible and impossible.

c64c64c64, actually using any form existing literature and twisting it's original purpose and meaning into something darker, more enticing and original is a very nice skill which ,when executed effectively, has a very strong effect on the reader or listener. "Open upon a time" is a minimalists piece of text, which, depending on the way in which is portrayed or spoken, can mean any number of varying things from all levels of emotion. So it is not "lame" at all.

The story was told well, but just because someone makes a pessimistic story doesn't make it any more truthful to life than fairy tales.

What I can't stand is when people use pessimism as an excuse for doing the wrong thing. "Good guys die young, so clearly it's okay for me to be a bad person and throw away my morals."

Good people don't get killed or cheated in life just for being good, nor do people with good intentions always come out with life handed to them on a silver platter.
