If all you did was put your stimulus check in the bank and never did anyhing with it, it would still help the bank! The bank would then have just that much more lending power, which would provide the consumer with more opportunities to get loans for homes or cars or whatever.
I think the only way the stimulus would be of no effect is if you cashed your stimulus check and buried it in a coffee can in your backyard.

The way I see it if you're paying off debt you're actually spending it. And you're probably paying interests on that debt so you're spending even more than you would have spent if you paid for the object you bought immediately. We had Alberta Prosperity Cheques here and they weren't bad but most people would rather see more services or tax cuts. Also we got the cheques because our province has no debt and is doing very well not because we are in a recession. We got out of debt by cutting back government spending and services. Everyone took a lose from it but now we are better off because of it. If Albertans can do it I would think Americans can become debt free as well.

people are unrealistic. $300 isn't much of a savings in the first place. if you pay down debt that means you'll probably spend the same later just on your credit...if you claim to save it, you'll soon be spending it because it's not much anyways. i think the government should have given more back. i spent mine paying bills already.
Paying down debt helps make you free from modern day slavery. Paying down debt (if you have it) is one of the most useful things you can do. Over time that $300 will cost you plenty more if you don't pay it off. With the interest off your back, you'll have more to spend on goods and services and improve the economy that way. But you would have to continue working on your debt, the money would just have to be a start.
I can't help but notice in the video, none of them said "free money." They called it a "stimulus", which is what the government called it. And most were skeptical of its effects. Fortunately, most seemed dedicated to paying debts or bills, which is good.

We had Alberta Prosperity Cheques here and they weren't bad but most people would rather see more services or tax cuts. Also we got the cheques because our province has no debt and is doing very well not because we are in a recession. We got out of debt by cutting back government spending and services. Everyone took a lose from it but now we are better off because of it. If Albertans can do it I would think Americans can become debt free as well.

Paying down debt helps make you free from modern day slavery. Paying down debt (if you have it) is one of the most useful things you can do. Over time that $300 will cost you plenty more if you don't pay it off. With the interest off your back, you'll have more to spend on goods and services and improve the economy that way. But you would have to continue working on your debt, the money would just have to be a start.

I wish race was no longer an issue, but when ignorant people make it an issue, then I guess it is one. A third of all people I've known that did not graduate high school, regardless of race, use racial slurs and think that their race is better than others.
