THIS was the kind of NYC underground club music that was all over Chicago radio and club mixes back in the day well before house music, from which Chi appropriated the vibe and created "house" based on this.
@hardcorehouse This track is fine the way it is. The house music that came from Chicago which put house music on the map didnt sound anything like this.
@g1a1h1 You probably just don't have the ear or history to make the connections-the early house music including the first records out on the first widely circulated label were direct copies-no surprise if you'd been in NY and Chi and knew that NY jammies were all over Chi record stores and radio/club mixes.
@hardcorehouse Just ny tracks you think? You funny guy, plus theirs lots of early tracks from Chi. But the Real stuff sounds nothing like what your talking about.
@g1a1h1 Clearly, you weren't there and haven't bothered to compensate with some research. Glad I could help. Don't worry, you and the masses never had the inside scoop on what really happened pssst frankie knuckled the godfather of house was a NYer.
@g1a1h1 Spent your time at mainstream spots, otherwise you'd be more familiar with the chronology. House was mainstream. The Chicago spinoff of the NY sound gained traction because it was picked up by the press, not because it was original. The true underground evolution remains off the radar. Those in the know headed to NY a full decade before house (described accurately by the owner of the Garage as NY club on a budget). It was a johnny come lately, the McDonald's of the dance movement.
A lot of people really have to concider themselves lucky cause this kind of music was never ment for commercial use and the true party people had to hit spots in NYC that if you didn't look like you belong you never got in....lol or a really decent college party with a up and coming DJ that got around.
Yall comments got me thinking about those old school club days...Still got tapes of when I use to record Timmy Regisford and Merlin Bobb mixes....Also have 12 inches collect I use to collect...never dejayed..lol....Anybody remember E2E4...
Another Boyd Jarvis classic ! This cat used to play keyboard over Timmy Regisford's mixes for 107.5 FM WBLS ( New York ) during the years 1983 & 1984. Timmy Regisford & Boyd Jarvis would also unite to record under the name CIRCUIT for 4th & Braodway Records during this period .

Massive props go to Boyd Jarvis and Timmy Regisford! Possibly two of my fave New York based writers/mix/remix/edit/overdub team of all time!

Both Release The Tension and Friends released on the 4th & Broadway label were great!
