u dont need a cat on the 1.9dturbo as its an older mechanical type diesel turbo engine. it has a particulate filter to reduce smoke but this can been removed and still pass an MOT perfectly. the early models didnt have this particulate filter on the exhaust but both models have a middle box to reduce sound aswell but again this can be removed and MOT passed easily. it actually sounds good for a diesel!

@paulwisdom2008 Not really, infact modern diesels aren't that smokey to be honest. (some don't smoke at all).
