When I remake of this movie there will be no happy ending. I will remake all three Exorcist's. But I don't what you guys mean it would be hard to fill in the shoes from the original cast. All I would have to do is find the right actors for each part.

The trailer makes it look action packed. It's not. It's more like an eerie documentary. Sort of like an early 70s reality show. I also prefer the original version. The extra scenes were cut for a reason.. because they were filler and took away from the movie rather then add to it; except for the spider walk scene. That was awesome!!

i watched it, alone, in the dark. My parents wouldn't watch it, only film that ever scared them apparently so they went to bed :L horror films don't scare me but this creeped me out a little especially that music, and how come i've never seen that spidery walky thing down the stairs before? are there different versions or something?

The trailer gets into pretty typical form about a minute in, but the preceding build-up is brilliant. I've long thought that none of the many trailers did this stellar film justice (either by revealing too much or relying too heavily on it's now-established status), but this might come the closest.

Superb trailer! I was 13 when this was unleashed to the world so was way too young to see it at the cinema.I remember my two older sisters seeing it & their reaction after,lol I managed to sneak the paperback copy into my bedroom & reading some of it.That alone gave me nightmares for weeks.When the UK 25 year ban was removed I went to see it & can say,it IS better seeing it on the big screen! I have the whole set & watch them on average once a month,sad I know,lol. It's still the best ever!

It's a great movie, but I think it suffers from the fact that it can't live up to its name. All my life, I was told by almost everyone I asked that it's the scarest movie of all time. I finally watched it recently, and the whole movie I kept thinking "something's about to happen" but never did. The movie's unsettling, but not nearly what I thought it was going to be. The way everyone makes it sound, I thought I was going to have nightmares for the rest of my life. It can't live up to its name.

@GomJabber11 it's called "The Scariest Movie Of All Time" for a reason. It doesn't rely on blood and gore to scare you, it relys on "what if it could happen to you" to scare you. When this movie came out it scared the shit out of everyone. Mainly because possession could happen to anyone. You don't know if that could be you next.

@GomJabber11 not really. The "Version You've Never Seen" included a once deleted Spiderwalk Scene (scene when Regan crawls down the stairs). It was going to be in the original Exorcist but the technology wasn't developed back then and it didn't look convincing enough. I think it had an alternate ending, though I'm not 100% on it. I do know the spiderwalk's in it. Hope that helps :-]

@GomJabber11 Quite different. Firstly, there's about 11 minutes of deleted scenes added (including the Spiderwalk, an early medical examination, extended dialogue between Merrin and Karras during the exorcism, and the original ending was put back). The score was also amped up, there was a terrible blue/purple tint over the film, and some extra (and really unnecessary) "subliminal" flashes thrown in randomly. A few things were also cut (Regan laughing at the party, Chris swearing on the phone).

@exmk000 I just realized that Regan laughing and Chris cussing on the phone were cut out. I hadn't known that there were any cuts, only additions. Yes, the purple tint and additional music take away SO much from this film. I don't like the "new/old" ending, either.

@FFCMMA Yeah, that's the same in both versions. The original ended with Fr. Dyer looking down at the steps after the MacNeils leave. In the new version he meets Kinderman (I have the video uploaded).

@GomJabber11 There are three versions. The first in 1973 which was monaural. the second in 1979 which was 70mm Dolby stereo. And the version with the spiderwalk scene.

This trailer almost makes it seem like an action movie. The truth is it's mostly dialogue, and very little action. But the when the action scenes do happen, they're quite disturbing.

Whoever put together this teaser trailer did a lousy job (Not exmk000's fault - This is from a VHS release/version?). They really didn't do the movie any justice at all. First of all, the music is completely-wrong for this kind of movie - Makes it seem like some cheesy B-flick from the early '90's instead of the classic it was. The mood is all wrong (like putting that kind of theme music to the trailer for the "Apocalypse Now" redux - It doesn't set the proper mood). Not exmk000's fault.

More like, The version everyone's seen. The version i have on VHS is now the version most people haven't seen. There should be a Special Edition DVD released that gives you the choice between the original theatrical release & this version in the menu. I know this version is more faithful to the book, but the new footage looks so obviously inserted & doesn't match up very well. I prefer the original release untouched.

One of the original 1973 trailers was banned bc it flashed a lot of black and white demon images incluiding reagan and jesuscrist, it was banned bc it was too intense back in the day to show and bc it could cause epileptic reactions to some people.

In the version you've never seen, Regan does that spider-walk thing down the stairs, and their are to shots at the beginning of the movie, one of the house and one of the church. That's about all I remember, oh and a scene were Father Merrin asks Chris 'What is the Child's middle name?'

My favorite movie of all time. I saw this when it was rereleased to theatres back in 2000 in a packed Times Square cinema. I had seen it countless times before, but seeing it on a big screen with the movie theatre sound and the audience reactions was awesome! Greatest moviegoing experience of my life.

@LeSsThAnZeRo1982 Saw this film when it came out at the Princess Hall Cinema Shipley England. I had to wear my platform shoes to make myself look older as I was only 15! The film really freaked me out as it was the first film to use visual and audio effects that we'd never seen before. The impact it had on most people was overwhelming.

this is the ONLY movie (the original exorcist movie) that has ever scared me. i watched it alone at my house and i was scared. it's really creepy since people were possessed in biblical times and Jesus Christ healed them. and people can still be possessed now, but the media lies and says it's a mental illness.

the uncut version is so awesome. if you watch it, be sure to carefully watch for images or spots that weren't in the cut version.
