I'm thinkin about doing this because all i can fit in my silverado without taking up any space is 2 10's. and thats just not enough. so i was wondering, if i did a blow-through, is it loud in the cab?
holy crap 100lbs, the one i was lookin at is the ascendant, i think the one w/steve meades signature on it. between those two which do you like best for serious bass power? the dc or ascendant?
Personally I am a DC fan but I wouldn't hesitate to buy Ascendant either. I'd say figure out which model you are interested in and call both of them for a quote and just see how you feel about them. You really can't go wrong with either one of them.
the only sites i see on the stm is for the dc audio, i went straight to the other websites and found one sub that weighed like 73 lbs? holy crap...im really interested in the dcs and i think its the ascendan or audioque...
IMO? i was browsin the dc last night but there are no dealers even close to me, and i check out those other brands too but no dealers in the state but ill keep lookin and see what shippin cost...
IMO, they are all better than Fosgate and not just because of the price. You should go to the SMD forums and browse the DC Audio, Sundown and Ascendant Audio sections. Lot's of great info that you would never get at your local car stereo shop.
T2's are nice. But before you lay down that much money you should check out some non mainstream brands. My DC Audio XL subs are rated at 1500 rms and can take much more for half the price of Fosgate T2's... Also look into Sundown, Audioque and Ascendant Audio.
ok that makes sense and i figured thats how you would want to do it, otherwise you would lose a lot of sound going back in to the bed. did you like your rockfords when you had them in? what do you reccomend for good hard hitting base in a 15?
I loved those Fosgate T1's. There are tons of excellent brands out there. It just depends on how much power you plan on running and how much you want to spend.
Hey, i check out your build on that website, very nice, question ive been meanin to ask someone, when you tie in the box to the cab/mouth is it just butted up to each other or does the "mouth" slide into the hole cut in the cab? hope this question makes sense?
I've seen people just put the box up against the cut out but I don't like that very much. Ideally you want to bring the port through the cut out and build some kind of baffle inside the cab to keep any sound from leaking back into the bed.
thanks for replying. what does 6th order mean or any order for that matter? Im wanting to run 4 of the Rockford T215D2 but i want to make sure the box is right so the subs sound good. what do you do with the old boxes , sell them? next time you build a new one can you take pics from start to finish with deminsions. I also want to build a sealed fiber glass box under the seat to house 4 10s but to start i want to do the 4 15" and c/o all the doors speaker ect.
@smokinram10 ...Honestly, the box in this video is about 5 boxes ago. I don't remember the dimensions. It was a 6th order bandpass and I know the rear chamber was around 6 cubes tuned @ 30hz and the front chamber was about 12 cubes tuned @ 60hz. if that helps any.
I made 1" spacers out of steel pipe and put them under the back seats. Then replaced the factory bolts with longer ones. That lets the seat hooks go up enough to come out of the brackets when I fold the seats up.
on the box that I described 8 ft^3, and the 4 15" subs I could have mini ports in bewteen subs like upper and bottom section in bewteen subs.
The question is what do you think about sharing all that 8-8.5 cubic ft chamber for 4 15" kicker cvrs and the hope to have enough miniports so that the box is properly ported.
Also I could I so do this design by diving the box into lets say 4 ft^3 and then just share 2 subs per chamber.
so here is what I came up so far. Since I am looking into perhaps not using my whole truck bed for subs at least as of right now. I was thinking about a box rectangular from side to side sitting in my truck and that doesnt go beyong the tire wells.
This king of box in my truck will be about 8-8.5 cubic ft depending on how I select certain parameters of my design.
box will be about 63" by 17" by 21" more less.
In this box I could have 4 15" cvrs all facing to cabin
one last comment with regards this. what do you think about 4 sealed kicker CVRs on 2 cubic feet per separate chambers?
I have right now 2 kicker cvrs ported to 30 hz in separate 5 cubic ft chambers.
(once again those videos can be seen under the user mayorga22 ) so then do you think going with the mentioned 4 sealed kickers will do compared to my current set up?
6th order means the rear chambers are also ported. Either way CAN be awesome if done right... Can also sound like ass. Bandpass boxes are kinda tricky.
hey man the 4th order box will be like facing the 4 subs to each others, and they will be on sealed individual chambers. what do you mean 6th order box?
I now have another 1500 watt amp, and i already have 3 kicker cvrs. I just need to buy one for 100 dollars at my local shop and I could either strap the mtx amplifiers or just run them each one to a pair of kickers.
Would you suggest a 4 sub blowthrough set up. closed sealed? or forget about kicker and get better subs like DC, FI and run one amp to each sub?
I'd probably just get a fourth Kicker. It's 100 bucks for that vs. around 1000 for three better subs (depending on the model, of course). Put those four in a BIG 6th order box and let it pound.
The first thing I'd say is make sure your seal is good. I rushed mine and it ended up leaking so I had to pull it all out and fix it. If you have any specific questions let me know.
I ask because I just found out mine were very weak 2.2 volts max, so I am in the process of upgrading my head unit to get 5 volts on my rcas, which will help me get clearer sound and of course more power.
I will check if I get more bass with the new 5 volt rcas and report back to youtube.
I'm thinkin about doing this because all i can fit in my silverado without taking up any space is 2 10's. and thats just not enough. so i was wondering, if i did a blow-through, is it loud in the cab?

oh ya how did you make the mold for your door speakers? styrofoam?
smokinram10 6 months ago
@smokinram10
In this video I'm running a Soundstream 1500 watt amp to each sub.
My door speakers are in the factory holes behind the door panels and I have another set in some Q-Logic kick panels.

sounds good, what kind of amps are you running? or would you reccomend for those size of speakers?

Yeah, they all make some serious subs. DC doesn't list it on their site but they also have a Level 6 sub that is closer to 100 pounds!

There are no DC dealers here either. I buy right from the factory.

also how big do you make the cut out into the cab? is there an exact measurement or did you just do whatever you wanted?

@smokinram10
I've got a complete build log at stevemeadedesigns
At the top of the home page click "member builds". It is at the top of page 4 called "Namosh DC Audio Blowthrough".
I'd give you a direct link buy Youtube has some kind of filter that won't let me post the address.

how much did it cost to cut the back of the truck just the cut a hole through

I cut the hole with a reciprocating saw. The boot seal cost around 75 bucks.

@sorizaga It's really hard to say. I'd try to run the 4 subs ported if you have the room. Maybe 3-4 cubes per sub ,tuned to around 35hz.
namoshndamud 1 year ago
also what do you think about a big box with just 4 sealed separate chambers for each 15" kicker? do you think that will sound nice?

Also I how do you secure your box to the truck, do you push your box to the side of the bed and use screws or how?
I have my truck under the user "mayorga22" I use L brackets to keep my box pushed to the blowthrough opening.
Thanks
sorizaga 2 years ago
The Fosgate box I had pushed up to the front of the bed and then secured in place with L brackets.
The box in this video was just held in place by the friction of bedliner on bedliner. It never moved at all.
My latest box is built to go over the wheel wells so it isn't going anywhere.
namoshndamud 2 years ago
how different is the bass from your most current system compared with the T1 subs you had before?
sorizaga 2 years ago
The setup in this video is much louder than with the Fosgates. Not just better subs but I am also running double the power.
I have not metered my current t-line box but it is moving a lot more air and getting much lower than any of the others.
