This clip is among the first TPOK videos i watched, i was 11 yrs (1987). VCR were the in thing. we would sneak from home on Saturdays afternoons, go with a single Kenya Shiling to the video cafe and then we would watch lots of Rhumba music then later a Karate Movie , Wang-yu or bruce-lee. those were days we did not have any worry.
When I first saw the video I was gobsmacked literally. Its many moons ago but it touches my heart no other song does.I wish we could see more of this singer.
thx Aboubakar.I do assume that Malage did the solo vocal!!!!!He deserves kudos. I do a bit of music and rarely do you find songs with one person doing the vocals without back-ups and doing it so well.
i first saw this group seated on low chairs and they were playing it with acoustic guitars-it was an interview or something.I was akid then-i'm now 40something.What i can't get up to now is what is the connection b'n malage de lugendo,Somaro and and Franco. Who did exactly what in this song
I first heardit stuck in my mind It makes me feel all sorts of emotions.I know it's a love song but bloody hell it's sad.I know love can make you go mad literally! This guy singing is a legend the voice of an angel
this is one man who could easily write 1000 words without repeating himsel. dont you notice he is averse to the call and answer format and even has the courage to let the bass guitar lead who else can do that.
a nzambe nzembo oyo na matanga eleliska batu grave. trust its to sad to listen to . youll remenise on life and get depressed that how good it is .zaza 4 life
this song is just to sad. it make me regret what my country as turned into . but their is hope because we its children will fix wat da oldas messed up. zairio for life.
The song is Testament ya Bowule written by Papa Lutumba Ndomanueno Massiya... It is about a friend of Lutumba called Bowule who died all of a sudden. Her sister commissioned Lutumba to write a tribute which turned out to be a lament of the last minutes of Bowule.
What are they singing about? And who is the singer? Malage de Lugendo or Kiesse Ndiambu? It must have been @ "Africa Mama Festival" in Utretch...? 1989...

papanzinga 3 years ago
but WHAT is so special about it? I have nothing against it as it is true to the first rhymes you learn as you grow up. carry on boy! go boy!

larry, I think this guy is not Papa Carlito though they have almost similar voices. Whosoever sang the song did a super job!
