Government controls our production and consumption thru rules , regulation, and mandates. They even set prices for 1/2 the health care sector directly and the other 1/2 indirectly. Those things are what has driven cost so high. They've done a lousy job of keeping down cost. This bill will just add to the already failed system.
We need to raise taxes of the rich corporations that have literally made a killing off of the sick who have died as a result of greedy capitalists denying health care. Michael Moore had it right in Sicko, his latest film, "Capitalism." We are behind the rest of the world in health care, while they spend less because they have socialized medicine. We need real socialism for the people and not for the wealthy (corporate welfare, etc), i.e. the bail out of wall Street, etc.
Libraries are state entities not federal. They are constitutional. And funds for them are voted for by the people. Health care Is a completely different issue. A public option is just an expansion of our medicare system with a lot more bureaucratic red tape and more mandates that will force you to buy into or pay a fine. Medicare waste $1 to every $3 it spends. Is that a plan worth expanding? Medicare now competes with private and has driven private care prices up every year.
State or Fed. govt., my point is its still govt--they are not for profit private entities. Health care should be the same:a public human right of birth--with NO PROFIT made off of sick people. That is sick! Do we think that the fire dept should turn a profit? NO. We need to join the civilized world with a single payer system (which by the way does not kill private insurance health care)--just removes them from being in control (the real death panels, which kill 45,000 Americans a year!).
You have the $3 to $1 ration backwards: it's $3 of care received for every $1 paid, with only a 3% overhead. Compare that to the 30% waste from the private insurance industry, which accounts for their billions of in profit.
