  • anyone who thinks sexton is an idiot needs to learn tournament poker. general rule is the two big stacks don't want to collide. no need for sexton to risk all of his chips and his tournament life

  • Only real hands Mike can't beat r 87 or a set. Unlikely Andy leads on the flop with a gutshot draw. 87 suited only makes sense since he raised pre-flop. So your only losing to 87 (s), or pocket 8's, 2's, 6's or 7's. However, you have the only player at the table who can break you effectivly saying, I'm putting you all in. Very few hands will he do this with you can beat, AA KK QQ JJ 1010 99. No way is it an auto call / raise for Mike Sexton here. In the heat of the moment he just had a bad read

  • Andy is the best!! :D

  • For a moment I thought mike was putting a reverse tell on andy when he slammed the chips in the pot like that. But then he folds to andy's raise!! lol. So not only was he weak, but he was letting everyone know. I think thats the worst part about the entire hand. That was very rudimentary. The fold wasn't the bad bc whos to say andy didn't open up w/ rags and hit a lucky flop? Either way he knew that andy was taking that pot.

  • Ummm Mike what the fuck are u doing here bud. Turn card is /jizz, you essentially turn the nuts. Bet, then fold? Adurka?!!!

oOOOOO MAN I KNOW HE HAS 88! cmon man!

  • omg terrible fold

  • sexton=donk

  • @pross1986 and i think you are pro and you have a bracelet :)

  • andy bloch always over plays his hands you gotta call him with 2 pair

  • he was 2nd in chips, no need to risk any more, andy bloch max betting is scary there

  • too many lay down to andy bloch because he a calculating whiz, but they shouldnt' get intimidated too much.

  • mike sexton has a ton of sex

  • Tuff hand but Mike could have very reasonably called there IMHO. Depends on what Andy's pattern was before hand.

Mike Sexton is the best announcer in the business, best teacher, best player. Amazing poker talent,

  • Andy is pot-betting preflop, so you put him on a strong hand, possible a pair or a suited-connector. When Mike calls the bet on the flop and hit his two pairs on the turn, there is three hands that Andy is likely to have = pocket eights, pocket dueces or 9-10. Mike got his answer by betting first on the turn and figured he was beat. I can see a lot of people getting their money in the pot in this situation. Didn't quite like Andys re-raise on the turn with just an overpair of tens...

  • that was bad play by andy in my opinion.

  • Not a bad play by Andy, he had an over pair and a straight draw. He was good to make the push. Great raise!

  • Andy Bloch's play was arguably worse than Mike Sexton's here. What is he hoping to get called by on the turn? Pocket 9s or A8? As solid as Sexton plays, you have to think he won't call with either of those hands on the turn, unless he puts Bloch on AK of diamonds.

  • As far as Mike Sexton not being notable, he won the WSOP Tournament of Champions in 2006, and his main mentor happended to be the notable Stu Ungar - I'd say he's pretty notable.

  • strong laydown

in this case he was upfront..

but there are many hands beat him

    (double straight possibility,set and even

    8&2 had beat him

  • What the hell is Sexton calling the flop for if he's not getting it in on a turn like that? Does he honestly think he's beat here?

    Awful.

  • Trip 8s?

I wouldnt call that a terrible fold

  • how is that a TERRIBLE fold? sure, it was a bad fold, as it was the best hand at that time, but lets take a look at the finer details shall we.

it was down to 6 players. andy bloch, being the chip leader, opened up for a raise on the button, and could easily have 2 2, even 6 6. and andy bloch genuinely believed he had the best hand with 10 10, just hear and look at the confidence he's giving out.

sexton absorbed all this and made a fold to protect his tournament life.

    not a terrible fold imo.

  • And Sexton was second in chipstack, he had plenty of chips to carry on playing after folding. If he'd have had about half left he would probably have called.

  • Not a terrible fold at all - just conservative play. Mike read Andy as being very strong there, probably stronger than an overpair. If he did have a straight there(not likely) a set(more likely) or 7 8 even, Mike's in deep shit. Too many players overvalue random two-pairs, good comment.

  • the problem with sextons play wasnt the fold, it was betting out on the turn. if he was confident his 2 pair were good, he should have checked to keep the pot small and called off if he felt that he was still ahead on the river depending what came up. still not a terrible play by sexton.

  • I note the commentators didn't seem to have a problem with the play. Those guys ESPN uses are pretty lame in my opinion.

  • the only ex is that they both had equal chip stacks and he didnt want to tagle with another bet on the river if indeed he thought he was beat here...

  • the only explaination albeit bad is that sexton forgot his cards cause that laydown is just plain awful

  • Andy raised preflop, so what does Mike think he has? Trip eights? Terrible laydown in my opinion.

  • After watching it again, I think it might be the worst fold in the history of poker.

  • Oh, in regards to it being the worst fold though. Search up a video called "Agressive Call" where Mike Matusow misreads the play and lays his overpair down to a CALL by Eli Elezra.

  • That's the best point PBN. What the heck did he think Andy raised PF with that has him beat there?

  • Geez, what a terrible play. I don't know what he was thinking.
