Japan doesn't allow gay marriage. Actually, Japan, on this issue, appears in most respects to be more conservative than the US. As for polygamy, sure, why not. As long as everyone (involved) consents to do so and no one is being hurt. As for incest, there's a very good reason not to practice it (other than moral reasons) and that reason is increased risk of defects and diseases in the offspring so no.

Exactly, this is about thumbing their nose at established religion. If they are already entitled to everything (legal privileges) but the word "marriage" under current laws (i.e., "domestic partnerships"), then what exactly are they asking for? They're asking for "marriage" because, if granted, all priests will be forced by law to marry homosexuals no matter what the rules of their denominations stipulate. Thus it then becomes illegal for priests to claim gay marriage as immoral.

I agree. There should be some sort of law protecting priests from being forced to marry two people if they feel that it infringes on their religious beliefs. But at the same time, I think that gay couples and others should have the right to call it marriage if they so choose to. Marriage is (or, at least, SHOULD be) subjective. I don't want my state telling me how to think of it, I want to decide for myself.
