  • i remember using one of those, but then it damaged my Green ds lite, thats why its not working anymore

  • doesn't that fuck up the screen?

  • the whierd thing is when you close it, it turns on

  • May I do this to my DSi XL?

  • That's supposed to happen because the speakers have magnets inside

  • This dude is trollin' his DS.

  • Ok, for you annoying douches here, a troll is someone who obviously doesn't know what something is about and gets angry or downvotes something for the wrong reason. This is pretty cool, I didn't know this before.

  • look at all the trolls ^^

    READ THE DESCRIPTION DUMBASSES

  • Mas Bn Arregle Ese Aparatejo Q Lo Tiene Bn Dañado

  • The first time this happened to me I almost had a heart attack. It was with a hidden magnet in my laptop.

  • the magnet activates the sleep mode piece of shit dumbass

  • dont break it. and plus in some nds manuals it says not to put ur ds near a magnet.

  • why would anyone even think of putting a magnet to a ds in the first place?

  • pointless vid, the magnet makes the ds think the lid is closed you douch

  • @mrljthedj Troll harder.

  • @Ahmed2006 ?

  • @Ahmed2006 im a human, trolls dont exist you idiot

  • @mrljthedj Oh great. You're one of those "smartass trolls". I'm gonna stop feeding you now. Ta!

  • @Ahmed2006 TROLLS DONT EXIST IN REAL LIFE, ONLY IN FAIRY TAILS LIKE THE THREE BILLYGOATS GRUFF. i agree with drugs but whatever your on u need help mate

  • oh wait it works

  • my DSi doesn't go into sleep mode when i do that it acts like a stylus on the bottom screen though i guess it has a different effect on DSi

  • it happens to mine too!

  • OIDZ!!! :D

  • ganna break ur ds :O

  • no if you close it the lights go out too>Magnet swtich

  • i did it to my DS lite and what hapens my DS Lite works but it wil anytime freez and now i have a new one

  • i tried it on my nintendo dsi and the same thing happened

  • Geek talk (NOOOOOO!): There is a reed switch that activates a small circuit everytime you put a ferrite or electromagnetic device which is actively producing a magnetic field around it, in this case the small ferrite permanent magnet on the upper LCD screen.(zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.........)

Normal: switch is activated by magnet, makes ds go to sleep mode.........

  • this is what happens when you magnetize your stylus

gamer: my game work work screw you nintendo

  • Cool Video

  • LOL

  • thats how sleep mode works there is a magnet in the top part of the DS its realy weak but its strong enough to send a signal when a ds i shut

  • does it still work after

  • the magnet activates sleep mode you dumbass

  • No shit, Sherlock!

  • @Ahmed2006 Shut up crackhead stop eating pixie-stix!!!!!

    TROLL!!!!!!

  • @fumfrb your the dumbass.read the description.

  • @fumfrb Look people, you might as well stop it. He knows that, you dont have to explain it. You know why it does that? Cause a magnet holds it shut! Why do you think it closes by itself when the thing gets close to closing? It'd flop open over and over without it! It's obvious. You dont need to explain it.

  • we are not 2nd graders we know that

  • Thanks for watching.

  • "dammit! i knew i shouldn't have gotten that new ds stylus!!!!"

  • pointless video

  • pointless comment

  • I would'nt do that if i was you, unless you want a broken DS

  • do the magnet thing to your computer it makes it run 10x faster!

  • lol

  • Sweet i didint know th@t would happen 5 STARZ

  • I wouldn't do that. Nobody try this. Putting magnetics next to electronics stuffs them up.

  • @911goblin the speaker is a magnet, when it closes it goes into sleep mode because of it

  • @CrymsonNite2 its a special kind of magnet.. why dont u try this: put a magnet at an lcd screen for a while.. then you'll see what I mean

  • i have the same

    magnot

  • i learned that putting magnets on your speakers will mess your ds speakers

  • i thought the DS was shielded? No?

  • the exact same thing happened to my ds... when it broke i got a new DS...

  • i did the same thing with two ds. i put one on top of the other and it did the same thing

  • mee2

  • i was never near a magnet and wen i turned on the upper ds screen was green!! please help by replying me!!

  • hmmmm i put a magnet in front of my t.v and that part went green so i just moved the magnet over the area and it went back to normal but i don't know if it will work on your ds

  • ur ds doesnt like you because the ds had a system upgrade that makes it detect intelligence. Obviously ur iq isnt high enough to make it love u. U got to be smarter than the machine man.

  • Is it still like this? If not, go to Pictochat and take out your DS game.

  • that happen to my friends touch screen no body knows why

  • this is for ds lite

i know, there's a magnetic switch arround by the screen and there's a magnet below the speaker, the magnet is opening the switch witch puts it to sleep, when closed again, it wakes

  • Happened to me. Most likely the connection between the screens is loose or something. I had to get a new DS.

  • WOW I GOTTA TRY THIS!!!!

  • Magnet switches can't be broken ever, so it is an intelligent choice instead of average micro switches. Wouldn't be cool if after a 1000 times you closed it, it just wouldn't ever show you the screens again huh...

Intelligent choice from Nintendo, however stupid kids can come up with so many stupid things because of these little elements... reading the comments was really painful.

  • cool now i kno to avod magnets

  • what you gonna do take the magnets out of your speakers? they're already in your ds -.-

  • That's because there's a magnetic switch underneath the touch screen and a magnet behind the top screen. The switch is used to put the DS into standby. Excatly the same as how the screen switch on laptops work. You won't ruin your DS by putting a magnet by it.

  • What happens? It ruins the device, you moron

  • In what way? The DS doesn't have any internal technology which would go corrupt because of the magnet. It doesn't have a hard disc you know.

  • Why does this even have 2 thumbs up? Like Sam00r and MeMisterTD said it won't break it. Was it ruined when he was playing it? That's like saying that if I close my DS in the middle of the game, it would ruin it.

  • also if you out a ipod on a magnet for to long it freezes

  • That's because there's a hard disc in some iPods, when you have an iPod that has flash memory for storage, you won't have that problem.

  • or when u leave it in the car while camping in a log cabin when its snowing outside, you have to sit on it to warm it up for an hour before it works again. lol

  • I've heard that can happen to computers too.LOL,weird how it just goes into sleep mode like that.

  • Cool.

  • This happens because when the ds senses a magnet it thinks it's closed because the speaker is a magnet

  • it even says in the manual magnets can make the power go off

  • Some laptops are rigged this way to power off the screen when you close the lid

  • That is the most genius way to put it in sleep mode.

    Seriously, that's brilliant...

  • that can hurt your ds by doing that you know you screw the memory up so be careful

  • Different kind of memory. Same reason you can rub a powerful magnet up and down your usb flash drive and it still works fine.

  • it can't hurt your ds at all.

  • that's the same with my HP laptop

  • this works, I tried it before I even saw this vid.

AND I USE THE SAME TYPE OF CLACKER MAGNETS!

  • Half of the people are too stupid to realize. You are just pressing y, and b.

  • You're too stupid to know that the DS power saving mechanism is toggled by a magnet on the other half of the DS.

  • Oh, I'm illiterate? You spelt triggers wrong, to start, and you used improper capitalization. You also fail to use 1 message to send messages.

  • Listen to this fool. Get a life.

  • Yes, we all know you have multiple accounts on YouTube to try and ruin my day. I'm not that stupid. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll be reporting all of your accounts for spamming.

  • wonderfull!

  • turcin, go to ankara and suck dick

  • Make me, you retard. You can't force me to do anytinhg over the internet.

  • You know nothing about basic termanology!

  • good job......?

  • dude

ur not suppose to do that

its turning it off cause its messing the Ds

    dont u know that?

  • I didn't actually know that 3 years ago. that's why I made this video.

  • i read in the manual that said to keep magnetic objecs away from the ds. and the ds lite, and the dsi too.

  • those are maganets

  • Blow me

  • what does that mean???

  • FAHK OFF YU0 STEWP33D PREKK.

    reply to STEVETZAG

  • FAGHA

  • i works with a phone too

  • This is sleep mode.

  • it seems like ur pressing the button off with your pinky but, im not sure! i dont have that old DS i have the new 1 and im waiting to get the new Ds(i)

  • but you cant use an r4 with the dsi

  • this shows how the sleep mode works on the ds. there must be a magnet or something in the top screen of somewhere

  • No duh how do you think it goes into sleep mode, theres a magnet in the top case.

  • from long time i was playing on my ds and there was a magnet close to it and it did the same thing. but it's very bad for the ds because it takes it's energy

  • Oh I hear the music stopping now. It's more then a backlight dropping out.

  • I think he's saturating the transformer for the backlight inverter.

  • you must of been REALLY bored

  • For those to lazy to read the discription:

Theres a magnet in each screen and when the magnets touch or get close enough it send a signal to some part of the ds to make the screen go dark and pauses most games

  • sleep mode and it doesn't pause games

  • actully in my ds games they do paused when shut. cool vid!

  • some games pauses some games don't

  • that happens with my laptop when i put it in a certain place it just completly shuts off

  • no duh it is called the dsi

  • so put it on ur light? there havin a nother ds cumin out durrrr

  • isnt there just a reed switch that triggers that?

it has nothing to do with messing with the electronics, it just thinks its closed

  • THts because of the magnets :D Magnets cant touch electricity or it messes it up or sometthing D:

  • that is sooo cool. O_O

  • that cant be good

  • hrm... well, seeing as how my ds is brand new and i don'

t wanna fuck it up, I'm *not* trying this. I'll just take your word for it (even though i do know some games where i could benefit from instant sleep mode w/o closing the device (i.e. final fantasy iv -- rydia's mathemagic minute... this would REALLY come in handy there... )

  • You can do that to phones to.. The ones you flip up.. Like samsung phones.. And some laptops too! And it does not screew up your stuff.. Ive spend a whole math class at school doing this to my phone! It works fine..

  • dude ur going to scruu up ur ds that cant frie the intrnl batory and the hard drive

  • the ds has no hard drive it has firmware you stupid fuck

  • Comment removed

  • a ds doesnt have a hardrive dumb ass it has firmware dont talk about stuff that you have no bloody clue about christ

  • Wow guys, chill out. He made a mistake. Big woop.

  • ty!!!! haa I wus up 2 late thats y I sed that dum shit and y my spelling is all jacked up and allso becuz I woched thes vid I now have a fucked up DS and sum us less DS game :l

  • i tried it and it worked

  • its true

  • yes but i can make the oids noise

  • kewl

  • oh rly? i thought the magnets were draining more battery then it was going into the DS

  • The magnet shifts are the chips, etc. causing the display to malfunction

  • everything electronic does some sort of malfunction when exposed to a magnet. my step dads phone kept dropping calls because the case had a magnet in it.

  • lol, there is a magnetic sensor in it because if you close the nintendo it goes in stand by mode...noob!

  • this video is almost 3 years old. don't you think I already know that? :/

  • rofl i no he is a younoob

  • read the description idiot

  • Loli!!

  • minus one star for it going 1.5 minutes longer than needed.

    but technology sure is crazy!

    Game systems & magnets FTW!

  • I have a super magnet, seriously, longer than a pencil that's never been sharpened, and when I put it near my t.v., the t.v. showed funny colors for a day!

  • It works!

  • Do NOT do that on a TV!!!

  • haha i did that once on a brand new 40" samsung plasma in currys lool they were soo confused

  • No, magnets in the speakers are what activate sleep mode. The DS is designed so that when the speaker magnets come close to the main part of it, it completes a magnetic circuit and starts sleep mode.

  • useless ¬¬

why dont you throw it on water as well????

  • i threw my GBA in water, it sent false readings throughout the system. by nightfall, all readings were back to normal, it was ok, but i nearly destroyed my GBA.

  • i did it its cool

  • All it does is activate sleep mode, there are magnets in the DS anyway, and when the top screen comes down and the magnets are in range it activates sleep mode. :P

  • lol, i did this but we tought it broke my frends ds lite coza it wouldnt turn on for hours... only do this on the classic nds!

  • i have the same magnets. Did you buy them from barcelona?

  • i have sum of thoos too i bought em in london

  • you can get those magnets virtually anywhere

  • what happens when you put a gba game and start it up and do that will it take you back to the same place

  • hmm...that's an interesting question. but I can't try it because I lost those magnets and I'm not bothered to search for them or other magnets to try it.

anyway, thank you all for the....interesting comments.....and almost 25k views :)

  • You shouldn't do that, eventually the motherboard, or the brain of the DS will fry and just die! SO well don't try this!

  • Haha...no, that's wrong. A motherboard can not be damaged in any way with a magnet. Have some knowledge before you start making up things. A magnet CAN mess up a hard drive, which a DS does not have. The magnet can not mess up a DS.

  • magnets can mess up ur hard drive AND ur RAM. anywhere that electrically stored data is kept can be destroyed by a magnet, as it pulls the data from where it should be and messes up the components inside the device, meaning that data can't be saved there anymore.

so don't attack ur RAM with one, thinking u got ur HDD and it'll be fine, cos it won't. lol Comps need RAM, shame my m8 didnt know that :L

  • Magnets cannot damage RAM, because the charge is too resisitant to magnetic feilds. Also, the DS does not have a HDD

  • loooooollll ur DS i broken 100% like mine =)) in the exact spot

  • i got that magnet from the dollar store!

  • hahahahahhahahahahaha lol

  • lol i have the same magnet!! i did the same thing
