It's mostly to keep a sense of forward progress in the game. I prestiged once, I'm almost at a point where I can again. I'm lvl 67. I'm not sure if I will though. The beginning levels are rough without perks and guns you have become accustomed to.

I hate not having Cold Blooded. Also my first play through I got very partial to the M21 EBR sniper rifle, but in prestiging, I gave Intervention a shot and love it.

It took me forever to get to level 70 and you get all ur weapons taken away... basically, without ur fav gun or fav perk, u will feel naked going into combat...and yes, u will get penetrated a couple of times
