That's due to today's insane aero standards. You can't get into another car's rear, or you'll feel insane turbulence. That's one of the main reasons people can't overtake.
Next year it should be alright when those ugly aero winglets gets banned. =)
agreed, the 3.5 litre days need bringing back even if theyre rev limited to reduce power. listen to the 1994 ferrari f1 V12, that was only revving to 13/14000 i think, and producing the same power as the current F1 engines, would be nice to have something similar!
Now superleague is almost about f1 must be obviously going out.Make superleague the affordable motorsport for all the family to see hear and smell at a mere snip of the silly prices to go and watch f1 live.Make some rounds more interesting by throwing in some past driving masters,i wont say who,you decide.See you all at donington park the end of the month.
its got very little to do with displacement, its to do with firing order, revs and the exhaust system. if displacement is the key here then why do the old 3.5 V12 f1 engines sound so good despite being smaller capacity? revs.
yes its a relatively cheap formula and i agree 750hp isnt bad from 4.2 litres for a "budget" racing engine, but i'd been told to expect so much from the sound of these cars, thats why im dissapointed. its not a bad sound by any means, but many past engines beat it easily
@Breed86 Ok have you actually seen these in the flesh or are you just judging what they sound like from this video? 1.) The driver in this was only doing a demo lap and wasn't at any point on full throttle 2.) Their 750hp the same as the current F1's but are V12 not V8 and these sound miles better then the current F1 cars 3.) These engines have a much larger capacity which compensates the amount of revs they can do otherwise they'd just keep blowing up and wouldn't be reliable enuf.
And to think F1 have Dyson vac sounding engines in comparison.

F1 has the richest history. Let alone the glamour, money etc.
But F1 will return to its old self, it's just a matter of time. Slicks being brought back, aero restrictions, just how it was in the 90's.
It just needs a mindblowing engine sound.

Agreed. But F1 has also boring races (like last race)

search for videos on the Lamborghini Murcielgago R-GT. this car sounds sooo average in comparison. im really disapointed by it

Comparing a big displacement GT engine's sound to this car's sound it rediculous. It sounds great.
