CAN YOU PLEASE TELL ME my Sony camera dropped in the bath when I was deleting memories I dodn't need this is far too long!!! Help!??!!?!?! HELP! Please respond!!
First thing should have been remove the wet strap, it's probably holding more moisture than the camera. I thought the rice was a good alternative to dessicated silica gel, until you actually had silica gel. In which case I'd bin the whole putting your camera in the Microwave bit (not sure what that was doing). If you want the moisture to evaporate out of the camera place it (with the silica gel) somewhere with a higher ambient temperature and wait . . .
@stripermafia I had a nikon d5000, and I can tell that is a really bad camera, really poor image quality, and everi image look like a point e shoot photograph. I take it back to the store in one week. It's a 600 euros camera. I can tell that my entry level dslr Sony A230 was really a looooooot better, great image quality, sharpness, everything you need. So Canon, Sony, Olympus are good photocameras. And nikon was once a nice name, but now... It's just a taiwanese junk with a big name.
Maybe mention that at no time during this process should you attempt to switch the camera on as electronics may short if moisture is still inside. BOOOIIIIIIIII!!!!!!
@mechpro03 You said put it in the oven and you put it in the Microwave. Now my DSLR is melted i will sue you. Just kidding lol....but you put the camera in the Microwave dude, what where you thinking.
I droped my dslr in the toilet, then turned it on (which i think was really a bad idea) would this method still works ?? i am really really worried caz the warranty just finished :S please get back to me as soon as possible, thank you !!
@mechpro03 yes, i dropped it in water, right after i turned it on it was working, then i realised that i shouldn't turn it on when its wet so i switched it off. dried it for a few days turned it on again it was working fine (i was even setting the time and date) so i left the battery in the camera bcaz i thought it was completly dried up (at that time the lens is till drying up so i couldn't take any photos). i did try recharging the battery but now it doesn't work anymore .. ;(
@sammyemo That is bad news. are you sure that the battery is charged? Is there a charge indicator in battery charger (you may have to check the voltage with a volt meter)
@sammyemo next time try not going to the bathroom with a DIGITAL SINGLE LENS REFLEX CAMERA SMART GUY... and if you DO. then do NOT HANG IT OVER A TOILET?!?!?! you rpobably shouldnt own a dslr considering you have no common sense whatsoever
yeah okay! u forgot the chicken breast! maybe the rice do some job with the water but the microwaves will destruct your camera. don't believe in that guys! it's all fake!
I never put DSLR in microwave, What part of the following statements you can't undestand?
"Pre-heat the oven to low(50deg) temp" and
"I pre-heated the microwave in toaster mode"
Anyway it seems like you know nothing about microwave, microwave heat foods by oscillating water molecules in it. It can't damage your camera or any other electronics. put your alarm clock (without the batteries) right in the middle of tray and see for your self
I kinda had an accident with my iphone, well I was wasted and then decided to stomp on it at a club, pour some liqueur on it, and then wash that out with water... After that any one can guess what happened :)
My cam was in rain for about 2 hours, but remember it was never completely dipped in water. If you completely submerged it in water, don't use it for at least one week. Replace rice and desiccants every day. I kept my camera for about a day.
Thank you for the video. my dslr fell in the water for about a second. i wiped it dry, removerd the battery n card, and i put it in a larg bowl of rice and kept it in a dry cupboard. how long did it take for u to dry ur camera? and how long was ur camera in the water?

Say, you did not drop the camera in the water. It looks like it was rain on. If so, bag the camera in plastic will do the trick.

-Bad video
-Don't ever put in microwave. Not sure what oven he was using there.
- Water is in the camera so he doesn't up it up to dry it?
I would open up the case and remove lens and put in a warm place with quality dessecants. (rice? mmm not sure)

@stripermafia
This is not to promote any manufacture, but since you mentioned nikon,
There is no nikon all weather camera(i mean truly all weather).
on the other hand you can keep an E-5 in rain for hours and it will still work without a flaw.

Did it worked when you power on?
mechpro03 1 year ago
@mechpro03 i turned it on yesterday and it word just fine. I left the battery init without thinking and now it doesn't work!! what should i do ??
sammyemo 1 year ago
@sammyemo Correct me if I`m wrong.
You dropped the camera in water, then you turned it on and it worked.
You dried it for few days and you turned it on, it worked.
You keep the battery in the camera, you turned it on after day or two and now it doesn't work.
did you tried re-charging the battery? I think it should be fine if it worked at the second time.
