Thanks so much for the video and for making time to reflect on all of your lessons...it is an amazing experience...thanks for your honesty and contributing to the education of all women who have gone or are considering becoming natural.
Hello, just a quick question, by saying that you make your own Shea Butter, does that mean i shouldn't just use the shea butter that i buy in a plastic bag at "black' hair stores?
so true..bcuz I have locs now and b4 that, I was, what I'd describe as a product junkie...lol. Now, I use as little as possible. A good shampoo. An essential oil for my scalp, most times a few drops mixed with water that I mist when I want some moisture and/or sheen. I do the same with a leave in conditioner diluted with water. Great video!
@MissCinnamonCake, fantastic video. Most that I've come across on youtube are not as clear and truthful and coherent as you have been. Thanks for sharing :)
sooo i'm just starting to get comfortable with my natural hair..and i dont think its long enough yet for the protective styles ive seen, so what can i do with it? and you said it's important to have something to seal the leave in conditioner with, what's a name of product that does that?
@MissCinnamonCake it was a longer but when i cut it it came out a lil patchy. it felt like the back grew slower than the front so someone suggested cutting it more so it's a lil less than an inch high. one more question..how many products is too much? thanks!
@awebulous I just found a great protective style for myself that you might want to try; finger coils/comb coils. They are easy to do and all you have to do is tie it up at night and I rock berets with mine when I don't wear them out. And the coil out is a great style too. Hope this helps. Oh, my hair is just 2 inches long by the way.
Thank you so much for this video. I can't tell you how helpful it is to see you being candid about your hair journey. I'm only 7 months natural and did not BC but did cut my hair shorter and am trying not to freak out right now. Your advice and videos are in depth and very helpful- i keep coming back to them. Love it! Thanks!
I really love your attitude to the whole thing. I recently did the big chop and am actually feeling quite insecure about it. YouTube is the only place I feel like it's OK to be natural. Lol! Thanks so much for the videos, they're a great help and inspiration.
I do not usually comment on videos, but I'd like to say THANK YOU!! I have been transitioning for 4 months, getting ready to do the big chop. This has really helped :-D
Thank you for this video. I just BC on 8/18 and I'm getting into doing what works for me and voiding mishaps, so this was so informative and I appreciate your advice. Thank you MissCC!!!! :-)
Thanks for sharing. Your video was interesting and provided me with a lot of information. I have been natural 5 weeks and i am still trying to figure out things. Still trying to find that product.
Yeah number 10 is really important. I have been growing my perm out since dec 09 and I see other people who have been doing the same for about as long and sometimes I get discouraged at how much longer and healthier their hair is. Sometimes it leads me to think I'm doing something wrong. It also helps me to do research and find out how I can improve my regimen. Great video!
Great insight! For transitioning hair, am I supposed to deep condition each week as well? How do I prevent the knotting of my relaxed hair--I removed my Marley twists 4 days ago, and I was trying to be gentile in the removal so I don't pop off all my hair, it was a little difficult cuz of matting, but I removed most knots.I used cond on some twists, but it was easier removing dry hair :-o I know, that's bad! I am still combing out stray knots. Tht's the down side of protective weave styles!!
Another great video with lots of good advice, especially point number 10. It is soooo important not to compare yourself to others too closely. There are people who I like and admire, but I also understand that their journey is not my journey and I have to do my own research and be realistic about what I learn about my hair and what my expectations are. It's also true about the regimen. Find your path and stick to it as well as you possibly can. Love the knots on you. Thanks again and much love.
You always give such great advice! Thank You! Also, I love the Bantu knot look! Just love it! Ya earrings and make is awesome as well;-) Love the whole look! Thanx for sharing!
No way !!!!!! i think I know who you're talking about, BUT I hope I'm wrong cuz it'd just be ridiculous !!!! Anyway, thanks for this video, great advices were given!!!!!!
Great advice! Totally agree w/t everything, especially making my own products. I just started researching for this and I'm looking foward to making my own and saving money! I'm just starting w/t my own leave in spray, hair butter, and hair oil. I'm glad u talk about comparing ur hair b/c this can get sooo frustrating and it's just silly. Love the bantu knots, sooo cute!
Your knots , eys and lips look so beautiful and I love your edges.Hope I get some soon. I have not given up yet. Will try some emu oil next month fpr 6 months.
Great tips and video. I can say I am guilty of a couple of things in this video (The PJism lol). I have started protective styling because I could not keep my hands out of my hair LOL!! I love your videos and how you relay your information. You are truly awesome!
I need to start doing more protective styles on my hair... i just dont like them. I need to get better with deep conditioning also. Loved this video...thanx :)
I totally agree with you about making my own butters. It's sooo much cheaper. I add ingredients I think would be beneficial to my hair and body, never again will I pay upwards of 14 bucks for someone else's overpriced homemade (at home) hair butter, I know that's all the rage, but um no thanks, it just doesn't make sense.
You are absolutely on point, especially about comparing your hair to others. In the beginning I would try certain hairstyles and wonder why they didn't turn out right. I've learned that my hair is different, and behaves in a certain way and other factors including the condition of my hair cuticles, porosity, density, etc all affect what I can and cannot use on my hair. I still watch other videos, but I've been diligent about what works for me. Thanks for posting this video. It's an eye opener!

great tips! going natural has been hard, i've been rocking cornrows for a while, but now and i am taking the time to research and being more adventurous with my hair.
Great video and very inspirational. A lot of these tips made me nod my head in agreement because although my hair is short I have been natural for 1 year n a half and I learned a lot of these tips along the way. I am now a actively exploring making my own products. This way i can use exactly what works for me.
#1,#10 is so true.i became a product junkie when i started watching natural hair videos on yt.i will buy whatever products someone reviewed and said it works.until i realized some were getting paid and sent free products.then i tried that stupid oyin honeywash and it totally damaged my colored treated hair and that was it for me.i unsubscribed to the fake ones and now i'm just using products i used b4 i came on youtube i also buy some natural butters too but i don't buy crazy as before.
@munajinx When I realized that the ph of Oyin's honeywash was near 8, I said no way. I ordered it once, used it up on my body as a body wash and never purchased it again.
Excellent tips hun! I've definitely learned that everything isn't for everyboday. Just because a product works wonders on one persons head, doesn't mean it'll do the same for you. Your hair and makeup look so pretty! The bantu knots are gorgeous!!
I loved your tips. You are well spoken and very thorough… and most importantly, right. You should NEVER compare your journey to anyone else. You’re correct when you say genetics and eating habits play a huge roll in how your hair grows.
I think that your bantu knots look amazing.
Let me ask you, where do you buy your shea butter? I was thinking about making my own.
@thepeelingqueen hahaha I know girl..just ridiculous. All I could do was laugh.. I just felt bad for people who were copying her methods because they are being decieved.
One thing I've learned about being natural is what works for him. her, and them will not always work for you even if the person has the same hair type or texture. I also learned that there is more than one way to do this natural hair thing. Whether you're into all things natural or not so natural products, hair can and does thrive under both situations. It's all about what works best for the individual. Loved your 10 things! Thanks for sharing!

I totally agree with the fact of not comparing hair growth/types to others .I honestly don't do a whole lot to my hair on a consistant basis. I don't religiously have a regimen o but I do the basics wash, cond, DC every week or so depending on if I have a sew in or quick weave or whatever ,moisturize. My point is my hair has grown healthy in 1 yr. Im not a product junky so I only have coconut oil, oo, castor oil, Kimmaytube leave in and it's a rap. I think just taking care of it makes a dif
