Hey I like your hopper dropper but I have a few questions. Do you have the recipe for the caddis with the eyes and the jaw breaker? Also can you send me a picture or diagram of how to set up the hopper dropper? Do you add a loop to the back of the hopper when you tie it?
Mikey, if you don't mind, what do you use for the striated abdomen of the chocolate jawbreaker? This is just an amazing looking pattern and I'd like to give it a tie. thanks
hey man, nice job. i tried this set up and it worked pretty nice i only got 6 3 lb fish that day, they all hit the weighted fly or the hopper. but still amazing work thanks for the tips.
Killer ties, Mikey, and thank you. Some of us are more appreciative of a master jedi offering some free advice. Go look at MuddyButtCO's stuff if you want to learn how to tie on a rooster tail.
I think what ever works for the Individual is Great I have a method using a torpedo bobber with 2 short leaders coming off a main 6lb line the leaders are 12 to 14 inches after being tied on and you can Flip your flies around to imitate a touch down of a fly so the trout strikes Ive had a lot of success fishing this way.
shits weak bud... "Super" hopper dropper my ass...Bring it back to the basics, you're method, I guarentee you, does not catch more fish or bigger fish...
One Problem: Here in Utah where I live, only two flies are allowed on the line. Using a dry as an indicator, means that I can only use one nymph. I still occasionally use a foam indicator instead of the dry indicator so that I can use two nymphs.
thanks for the tutorial--very easy to understand and very informative--i'll have to tie up some hoppicators--your droppers look great as well--great info on how to fight larger fish!
I have never had much success with multi-fly rigs. I do not respond well to my shit getting fucking tangled all together or losing 3 flies to a snag. Save yourself the time and headache by turning over a few rocks or just watch some glassy water to see whats coming off.
Appreciate the effort, but you made no sense whatsoever. I don't use the eye of the fly, and I did the loop to loop and put this through that- come on man- show this with a rope and large object or something. This video was impossible to follow.
Years ago I watched my dad dress silk lines the night before he went fly fishing. I became the official leader tier for my dad. Then my dad's fly tier. I had a ball. He bought all hooks, materials, etc. I wish I could still still go fishing with him. He died in 86 after three wars and cancer. Never in my life have I seen a man catch as many doubles as my dad did. An 80 year old man told me in 53-54- "you watch and learn from your dad. "
i wish idaho was like that, fucking damn thats badass, so not only do you show your invention but you work it and obviously it succeeds with great results, hot damn buddy
Wow, nice video, great innovative ideas, and the biggy is bothering to mention to wet and cool your hands before touching fish.thousands of well intentioned individuals think just cuz a fish swims away its okay,..thats is false. If a 98 degree hand touches 40 degree fish,..the fish will often go into shock, even though it swims away it will go belly up after swimming away.thank you for spreading the word, you rock.
that was an incredible instructional... thanx for sharing those gems. i use the hopper dropper combo but never thought to try it using an adjustable hopper... makes a lot of sense. i never thought to use a double dropper behind the hopper either. looks like i have to think outside of the box more!
