  • Nope. The original version that she did was in in 1978.

  • mon enfance !

  • I 1st heard of her from doing background vocals on a rap song by Eric B & Rakim, Paid in Full !!! Yes, I sd rap. We do have other tastes and appreciate good music, regardless of the genre. Incredibly soothing & relaxing. Sexxxxy as hell too

  • She died from pneumonia, brought on by being HIV positive

  • @smd426 Because her real estate tycoon husband gave it to her....Sad.

  • זמרת גדולה !

  • long time ago - a verry clear and great song ! R.I.P. Mrs. Ofra Haza

  • i respect all faiths and ways.i just think her voice is beautiful.religion doesn,t really matter.as long as we can all share this magical voice.evrything else should be put to one side and enjoy what you here.is that ok to say that.dont mean to offend sorry in advance.

  • I also agre with you blackiemittens,That is what I feel too.I am also a Christian believer

conscious of the jewish roots of our faith who loves Ofra and all her contribution.A great gift.

  • God name is ELOHIM !

I AM MESSIAH OF THE ISRAEL UNIVERSE !

  • @elohism

Yes ELOHIM is plural, singular is Eloha. It means literally in ancient Hebrew: 'Those who came from the sky' ... all is explained at rael.org

  • EXCELLENT ! Sa voix est délicieuse à entendre ! Merci pour la vidéo !

  • i got PAID IN FULL when i was listening to this

  • @gregnice25 You was thinkin of a master plan!

  • @gazzi22 yeah and they paid me with sweat inside my hand, lol

  • Ofra had a voice of satin, wrapped in the veil of a tiger. those that are responsible for her death, may they die a thousand times. It was no accident. We the people were robbed of beauty of the eyes and ears. She was one of if not the greatest talent to even rise out of the Middle East.

  • @funhunter671 Do you think someone took here life?

  • @allowayfreestate ...I can't say, but I don't believe she had HIV and the Flu usually doesn't kill so fast. As well as, why would her doctor say she was going to be fine when it was apparent she was dying....very odd. her sister gives an interview here on youtube, just search ofra haza dies...

  • Какая разница кто она еврейка или нет? Все мы в первую очередь люди...

  • "Paid in Full (remix)"

  • beautiful!!!

  • Me encanta!!!!

  • a real angel singin on heaven since 2000. i listen this in 1990 on "short wave radio" :-D but just today i know who sings. i love technology!!!

  • What a voice. O.o

  • most beautiful song I have not listened to years,,,, bravoo israeliiii

  • this angelic voice was/is the most sampled vocal in the western world

  • Nešto najljepše što sam ikada slušala, a da ni riječ nisam razumjela.

  • RUHE IN FRIEDEN, OFRA!!!!!!

  • @Odhin73 My God! I thought she was Arabic! So she is Jewish? Music really does break through all barriers.

  • @EarlRegent she is arabic from yemen jewish or muslim and jewish is religion not nationality

  • @siamesecatful *Buzzer* Wrong! Jewish is a race as well as a religion. When the Ethiopian Jews claimed the right of return, it was DNA that proved their Jewishness not their faith. Secondly, I don't know where you have been living but have you not heard of atheist-Jews before? Go to the temple and ask the Rabbi what a Jew is please.

  • @siamesecatful Just like the Jews who migrated to Europe and mixed with European DNA so did the Jews that ventured around the Middle East including Yemen. Her lineage surely contains Arab DNA but she is descended from Jews and that's what makes her Jewish through her mothers line.

  • Her voice and music are timeless as is the Yemenite tradition and people. Hashem bless the Yemeni for being so faithful through out the ages.

  • All musics are universal.

    Shalom - Salam

  • @Barbafifi

Shalom - Salam to you as well my friend. Good comment:)

  • @Barbafifi "salutare" is the latin :)

  • @Barbafifi .. Yeah !... Shalom .. Salam ... all music is universal ...

  • @Barbafifi How nice to see this as the top comment!

  • @Barbafifi SHALOM, SALAM. God bless you always!!!! Great music!!!!

  • @Barbafifi lady gaga is not universal, my ears don't ear it, only my ass can...

  • I Have this Cd

  • How could the world loose this beautiful human being?

  • @gazzi22

by HIV her husband infect her was shocked for all israel ppl , was really sad day.

  • good by i prefer the pop dance version of 1987/88

  • the best off

  • I am american I don't know what she is saying but I have been in love with her voice since it was sampled on a hip hop song in the 80's. Her voice is hypnotic and soothing.

  • thx for the thumbs up. ofra is a queen 4 life. we never forget her.

    selam 2 all humans worldwide

    by ricochet

  • WHAT A VOICE A QUEEN OFRA I NEVER HEARD IN MY LIFE SUCH INCREDIBLE AND HYPNOTIC VOICE MERVELLOUS OFRA I LOVE YOU!!!

  • Super, A Legend !

  • original version is better, love the instrumental

  • she became famous in europe with de dance version of im nin alu and also a hit in PORTUGAL. she came to sing in lisbon in coliseu dos recreios ( if I could find the video...) I missed my fucking english test to go to see her and I have some photos. I remember very well it was around 1995 and se invited who wanted from the public to dance with her on stage ! my godness ! and i stupid very shy i didn't go... later in 2000 i knew from a magazine in the carnival taht she died i couln't believe...

  • Such a beautiful voice and girl :)

  • this kind of music is not beloved in europe

but im nin alu 88 was 8 weeks # 1 in germany and sold nearly 400,000 copies

    thats strange

even in the us she was a star she worked in DISNEYs prince of egypt

  • @ffm20zaheri Prince of Egypt is not a Disney film, it's Dreamworks. :)

  • I was thinkin that she was from palestina or some arab state.

  • I discovered Ofra for myself in 1985 ( I guess i was a little slow finding her) and she has remained among my favorite vocalists/artists since then. As a person, she was what i think more people should strive to be and what I strive to be. Loving, fair, conscientious and considerate, desiring peace. And as an artist, she was all that anyone can ever hope for: Talented, skilled, gifted and heard. If we could just learn from her to set aside our arguments and hate and be brothers and sisters. :-)

  • Hermoooooso, que voz y que ritmos, espectacular.

  • i would say, im getting into this style of music, but i would be wrong, im getting into this singer, shes amaziinnnggggggggg!

  • Paid In Full sent me here.

  • thanks for posting holden

this version is so much better than any of the horrid dance remixes

  • Very nice version of the song!

  • I agree with ricochet217. This Christian loves the voice of this beautiful singer whom God took from us too soon. First learned of her with the movie Prince of Egypt. Talent is a gift from the Almighty and when it's enjoyed (even in a language one doesn't speak), it's a response to the God-spark in all of us. Those who hate, sadly not only don't get it, but cheat themselves of so much.

  • @blackiemittens Love is love and kindness is the same as that of your neighbour. I fthe Spirit of mercy is no longer

  • i can listen to this song continously without getting boreeeeeeeed sooooooo AWESOMEEEEEEEEEEEEE

  • LOVE THE SONG! LOVE OFRA! LOVE ISRAEL 4EVER!

  • @mrpoet212 its this kind of digusting racism and narrow mindedness that keeps people at war. Why cant you simply enjoy a wonderful talent like Ofra Haza without bringing your ugly hate into the picture. Im sad for you, but mostly just digusted

  • ein ...üübbelst.....geiles...lied...ich weiss nich, ich kenn das seit 20 Jahren...ich lieb das immer noch......da fühl ich mich iwie ..eingewickelt/geborgen

    Geile Song!!! 5 Sterne!

  • One of the most beautiful voices ever...I didn't understand the lyrics because I don't speak Hebrew or Arabic but her singing transcended all language and cultures (unless one just wants to hate). Such a tragic death. May her memory be eternal.

  • Who cares if Madonna sampled it? Her music is BS.

  • fascinantan glas ...... obozavam je

  • she was amazing! nobody sang like her, still nobody sings like her.

i,m proud to have a son who has a hebreew name Jiska means: he beheld God.:D

    R.I.P. Ofra... love you xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • @ eldospinks and all

yeah, a great song from a great artist. she is wonderful. i love her voice.

    mfg selam

  • Music is one of the only beauties we have in life that is for free, whether we hear it on the radio or sing to ourselves. I love this song even if I don't understand what the words mean.

  • Thank you so much for uploading this. My vinyl copy of this is so worn out (Globe Style 1985, published 1985 Hed-Arzi Ltd, copyright 1985 Ace Records Ltd) I can't remember how long ago it was since I heard this without crackles!!! The album Yemenite Songs was my introduction to this genre of Hebrew, Aramaic and Arabic sacred songs. Life changing stuff even though I didn't understand every word being sung. Many thanks again for the upload, Warm Regards, Ivor

  • תהא נשמתה צרורה בצרור החיים.

    Rest In Peace, Angel.

  • "Buitifull song" i see you mention maddona sample this song,,another tune was

Eric B.and Rakim- Paid In Full (Coldcut Remix) 1987 Sampled it

    thanks for the upload

  • @mrpoet212 well said akhi. i may not be arabian myself, but i hold arabian ancestry, and its something i take a pride in. im the decendants of yemeni's myself, of the greater yemen, mullahs and merchants from the town of najran, my ancestral home. in india you will find thousands of decendants of ancient yemeni's.

  • thank you for the background info and the various versions about this song

  • what do american jews have in common with these middle eastern jews? nothing. these people are culturally, ethnically, linguistically, culinary, and racially ARAB!

  • i remember my parents telling me they first heard her when they were in france and that the french were like "who knows what she's saying but her voice is incredible" LOL!

<3333 and RIP to the Princess.

  • so natural and so pure

  • Belle à la voix de cristal

    Sublime aux yeux de gazelle

  • I first heard this album by Ofra Haza in about 1985 or so in of all places, Austin Texas! Ever since then I have loved Ofra's voice, listening to her always makes me happy even though I can't understand what she's singing! This particular album is one of my favorite albums by anyone, ever, first had it in vinyl, than casette I think than finally CD. Thank you so much for bringing us this video!

  • i always remember the first time i rediscovered the original of im nin alu and noticed the big change done to the '88 played in full remix. the timing, im nin alu's time signature shifts often, it's 12/8 at some phrases and then it's 14/8 on a couple of phrases. on the '88 version all phrasings and lyrics are fitted for 4/4

  • hows this original? Wasnt the original released in 1978? Theres even clip of it on YouTube.

  • The 1978 version is by the theatre workshop of the neighborhood Ofra grew up in. The band included 7 members including Ofra. It was a live version as I recall.

The 1984 version is the first studio version recorded by Ofra as a solo artist.

  • @holdencaulfield79 absolutely true

  • @holdencaulfield79

i was just thinking about this.thank you for informations.

  • @holdencaulfield79 I like the 178 version best...never heard this one. Huh....not bad....

  • what you see in 1978 this is the early original

ofra haza came out and grew from gruop called "teatre of atikva niegbourhood" they had 5 different show which produce 4 differeent records.

    atik nossan

    hava rishona

    ve chozt mize akol besseder

there they first sang this song inside the group.

in 1984 after the created of the group bezalel aloni became her manager and made from her a pop solo star,

the made this son a gain in the album "yemenit songs

    " what you hear here.

  • What can i say????This is indeed the language of God!!!Be blessed Israel;)

  • Beautiful voice, beautiful song☆ミ

  • Evet, gercekten dogru.

  • great woman-great voice

  • Thank you ♥ OFRA HAZA

  • So wird Frieden tanzbar gemacht

  • the song Issac by Madonna does not represent a person, its the person/ her friend Issac singing the song with her! Lets be polite okay, negativity 2 others is our own faults alrite..

  • This song doesn't represent about ISAAC!! You Stupid Madonna!

This music supposed to sound like, if your a Yeminite Jew!

IM NIN'ALU - If they are locked,

DAL THAEY NA DI VIM - The doors of the generous ones.

DAL THAEY MA ROM - The doors of the sky,

    LO NIN'ALU - won't be locked.

EL HI MA RE MAM AL KARUVIM - God is alive and sublime to the angels,

  • As far as I know there are many jews in Yemen for nowadays and Ofra was jewish too. It's only a minority but nothing less than the largest in Yemen.

  • This song IS in Hebrew, not "Yemenite" (there is no such language), but it she is pronouncing the Hebrew correctly unlike most modern Israelis. Even today Jews from Yemen pray exactly this way and read the Torah this way. It is simply Hebrew done the right way. Most Jews over the many centuries of exile have lost the ablity to pronounce Hebrew correctly.

  • It's Hebrew wiyh Jewish Yemenite exent. The writet of the lyrics is Rabi Shalom Shabzi who's still burried in Yemen

  • אני נהנה להאזין למוסיקה זו. טוב מוזיקה

  • I am a Catholic, but I just love Ofra Haza's voice. It crosses boundries.

  • @cjacja21 I am Muslim, and i've always liked this artist, and i did not hit anything the foreign policy of humanity, the art, it means that something is left of humanity

  • @cjacja21 Religion shouldn't be a factor in liking Ofra Haza. In any case she is singing to the God of Israel and therefore her singing foreruns the Christian God.

  • @hotbabygurl35

I'm willing to use wave software to show you that it is the sample they used.

What makes you think it is not? I can hear that it is, and my ears don't generally let me down, I'm a music producer.

  • beautiful

  • Amazing!

  • Dear Friend thank you for posting.

By the way i love your nickname interesting choice of holden together with a great suburb of melbourne australia.

Long live the STATE OF ISRAEL and ISRAEL STANDS FOR ALL OF TIME

  • I never get tired of listening to this....

  • De beste en mooiste jooden van de hele wereld en ook hun muziek. SHALOM

  • Thank you for posting, this is the version Eric B and Rakim used to sample for "Paid in Full" where I first heard it.

I adore this original version, I don't understand the words but it's so beautiful that it gives me goosebumps anyway.

Rest in Peace Ofra - beautiful

  • @craigfromnewcastle Eric B & Rakim didn't sample it. Coldcut did the sampling for their remix of Paid in Full.Great tune either way. x

  • @oldmodelarmy cheers - I love both versions

  • take this neighbor

  • what language is?

  • The song is in hebrew. Some of the lyrics are in a yemenite dialect which was spoken by Jews who lived in Yemen Centuries ago. This dialect is still used today by some people.

  • Her parents were expelled from Yemen before her birth and set out on foot through the Arabian desert, eventually being airlifted to Israel. This stunning dress in the video took eight hours to put on. It was used on the first record released in the U.S. (which used this for the cover photo).

  • @notvalidcharacters I didn't know any of that. Thank you for sharing.

  • @holdencaulfield79 . FY! Yemenite dialect Hebrew language. It is related to our Somali language such Nin Alu has 'ayn "H" and qaf. . Er.

  • @holdencaulfield79 Just FYI - Jews lived in Yemen up to the 1950's when they were forced to leave the country they had lived in for generations upon generations for their own safety. Israel airlifted them in an operation called Operation Magic Carpet ("Mivtsa Marvad HaKsamim"), though there are a very small few who chose to stay behind. The Yemenite Jewish culture is indeed old and rich.

  • @zeroabura its not hebrew, the song is in yemenite, which it very similar to hebrew

all the lyrics in the song is in yemenite.
