First thing, i'm 99.99% sure these are emulator versions simply because they never produce the WEEEOOOW parts of the C64 sound correctly, you can obviously hear this at 8:25...it sounds terrible.
Also the first and second tracks are exactly the same on this upload with the first one sped-ep.
I will be uploading all 5 Ocean / Imagine loaders un-emulated in one video (25mis approx) over the next week, i will send it you so you can compare.
ZEUSDAZ,...the ever growing un-emulated game channel.
I had a spectrum and my mate had a C64. They both had strengths and weaknesses and we never argued about which was best cos we were both happy with what we had, but DAMN was I jealous of loading music! I had loading screech. Thanks Clive.
On 1985! If i'm a techno-trance fanatic, b'cos of this and Martin Galway - Rambo: First Blood Part II (1986 Ocean) songs. Sometimes i was listening 100 times repeatly these 2.
Thanks for posting this - there have been times when I've gone looking for what I thought I remembered as the Ocean Loader tune only to be confronted with what I now know is version 3 which - sorry - I don't like at all. For me version 1 is the classic and only version, although version 2 does have a certain ponderous gravity to it which would make it better as the intro to an epic war game or something similar.
i remember these very well ,i used to press stop on the tape player just so i could listen to the music all the way through , brilliant days , thanks for uploading brought me a moment of nostalgia !
i remember siiting listening to these and stopping the tapes loading just so i could hear all the tune , brilliant ! absolutley brilliant m8 thanks for putting this up
Oh man, pure nostalgia right here....thanks for uploading these mate. Don't know how many nights I sat listening to this music praying that my game would load properly. Awesome.
Oh yes, I remember these indeed. I prefer the 2nd one. Instant Remedy has done a great more modern version of theses loaders (and several other C64 games), and should be checked out also.
@Mrikuru haha. everyone goes ON about hubbard like he is the only one... bah ... galway / follin / jereon tel etc were also on point.. along with MANY more.. shame the commando music was so big that the game was short as a result..hhmmm
These are fucking ace man, kudos to you for putting these up. You've inspired me now to learn an instrument, form a band, and just make a living going around the world playing the Ocean loading screen songs! x
I've been gaming for over 20 years now, but nothing makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up like hearing the Ocean Loaders, particularly the third one. Definitely heady days...
I've had the peasure of working for both Martin Galway and keith Timan, Fred Grey - I programmed the ZX Spectrum Cobra, Green Beret (no music), Firefly, Mikie, Hypersports etc.
this was my best loader track! it had emotion like garynuman meets vangelis ... you felt back then that you were living in the future lol...it was so radio ga ga
2nd for me, brings back memories of borrowing my friends C64 when he went away for a week. I only had a 48k speccy so you can imagine my awe at the audio capabilities and the second tune blew me away so I load Green Beret again and again just for the tune! :D
Still prefer the second one - I can still remember the first time I heard it. Such an evocative piece of music - Martin Galway was / is an incredible composer.
Still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up even today.
Which one is your favorite of these three? I definately think the second one is better since it is much more polished than the first one, however, I like the third one the most.
@TheCommodore64Player I have to agree. The 4th one is the weakest of the bunch, despite being quite good. The 5th one, however, is absolutely fantastic, but not V2 and V3 fantastic.

i wonder if when Martin Galway, Peter Clarke and Jonathan Dunn made these tracks they would become such icon tracks from a great era in gaming.

I've done a few C64 chiptunes of my own. Perhaps you may like to pick one of these and rate:
NEW LABOUR POLICY BREWER FOR MS DOS AND WINDOWS
AGEING PSYCHO FORUM - MS DOS AND WINDOWS COMPATIBLE
ELGAR POMP AND CIRCUMSTANCE ARRANGED COMMODORE 64C
QUINCY 64!
I love the old machine.

2'nd one for me! 1st had the impact of blowing my mind but the end is a bit of mess - No.2 was the one I remember most fondly.
Ahhh, I still listen to c64 tunes all the time. Wish game music today would stop trying to be like movies.
