it seems around 6:24 he goes off a bit and takes him to recover 6 seconds, and again a few notes here and there, where he anxiosly looks at his notes. mybe i'm off!
@cnabaie he's actually playing the right notes leading up to it and then it's as if his memory froze before his next entrance. Kinda funny but at least he recovered! lol.
really an excellent performance overall, and again an inspired interpretation. Obviously, Fleisher made a few errors (I'll leave it to the yt critics' club to note the details). But throughout this performance, the orchestra was superb, the conductor's approach truly fresh and challenging, and Fleisher himself was very sound overall throughout this concerto, which is among Brahms' most daunting pieces both technically and interpretively.
@briandonohue100 I was present at this performance, particularly exciting because Fleisher had recovered the use of his right hand after many years and returned to perform in the Piano Concerto which he preferred.
@orso1149 I didn't even know that (he came back from an injury at this concert). All I heard was a very spirited and inspired performance by some really fine musicians, during which a couple of mistakes occurred that didn't mar the overall effect in the least. But it also explains the other thing I noted (in the Adagio video, I think) about how he "hid" the score inside the piano!
@briandonohue100 Not to mention that it is truly remarkable to see Fleisher at his best after so many years crippled by a nerve disorder in his right hand. He is truly a great pianist. I especially love his recording of the Beethoven concerti with Szell and the Cleveland Orchestra. Wow.

Did you see his Pinky. at .2:47

@hidkidd
Yeah, terrible.
I know why that is, because he cannot stretch his 5th finger in certain combinations anymore.
As long as you want to go on playing the piano, this is not a joke.

Yeah, but don't forget the problem of focal dystonia is inside the brain itself!

This is amazing, but OH MY GOD, someone's phone is ringing at about 5:30! At least it wasn't during a quiet part.

Thank you, orso1149, for uploading this. It really is a great performance. Is there any more you have and could put on youtube?

@orso1149
He might have "recovered the use of his right hand" far from completely.

@briandonohue100
Due to focal dystonia, this is not an excellent but a bad performance.
