  • yes all those tools are great and i learned about the hair scissors in school definately dont cut anytrhing else with the scissors thanks for all the info

  • You should try miavocado all natural products I use it on my natural hair and it's so healthy, I love it they have a site it's called miavocado

  • How often do you trim your hair?

  • hey! Question: do you flat iron your hair only when you have freshly washed it? Or do you flat iron your hair even it is two or three weeks post a shampoo? I plan to co-wash my hair but I want to flat iron it so I'm wondering if I should shampoo it first?

  • songs on the comb - lol!

  • Hi. Your hair is very inspiring. Where in the world can I by the VO5 Extreme Heat Protector? I've looked in Wal-Mart, Target, Walgreens and CVS. Thanks!

  • @BlackAmericanIndia

It seems to be discontinued unless you buy it in bulk

  • @Longhairdontcare2011 Okay, that explains it. Thanks! Would you suggest an alternative?

  • @BlackAmericanIndia

I have a vid coming up, but I cant guarantee if it will be posted today or next month lol. I like this "generic" brand of heat protecting spray from sallys beauty supply. I tried tresemee(sp?) and a few others, this one is not sticky and I l ike the formula. GL :)

  • @BlackAmericanIndia @Longhairdontcare2011 Great!! I just bought Joico Silk Result (Thermal Protectant) today and I heard it is awesome per Natalie20121.

  • Songs and harmonies plus hair do not mix. Too funny!!

  • Ha! I totally do the tacky check! I wasn't sure if anyone else did it. Hana Shine Shield is awesome (but I got it for free-- I'm cheap!).

  • I've been using paper scissors on my hair, so thank you for the heads up! Why is it so important to use shears, though?

  • @AmberinTrees

no prob. The scissors for paper aren't as sharp as hair shears and the less sharp the blade is the more you increase your chance for split ends since the cut isn't blunt (you'd have to see the ends microscopically).

  • @Longhairdontcare2011 i just trimmed my hair using paper sissors... if i stay on top of it can i prevent splits, or do i have to trim again w/ shears?

  • @avastacia

monitor the ends to see if you ends start splitting quickly...if not just trim with shears ur next trim

  • songs!....melodies!...lol ,

I have searched high and low for that V05 heat protecting spray...cant find it, even went to the websites, where do you get yours?

  • how long did it take you to grow you hair ?

    its really nice :)

  • It harmonizes and makes songs for you? Melodies? ahahahahaha

  • great video i learnt alot in thanky much :-)

  • Do you put the infusium on your hair prior to the V05 heat protectant?

  • Yes, that's exactly right

  • Maybe you could let drip on your fingers to keep from touching it.LOL

  • fair enough :)

Ive done it once and I actually purchased the spray so all heat protecting sprays are safe from my lil fingers lol

  • Thanks for the great video. Hair products and techniques for our hair (Afro-textured) certainly have come a long way. When I was in my twenties, there was nothing much out there. I am embrassing all of this info on youtube, as my hair is growing nicely, natural. I have a few years to go to get the length wanted, but enjoying the journey getting there. Thanks again for your videos and inspiration. Your hair is absolutely gorgeous. Take care.

  • Thank you for making this video!!! My dermatologist recommended a real boar bristle brush and hard rubber combs vs plastic, which like you said will take your hair out... thank you for reinforcing that point, im pretty sure they help retain length. Most of the ones i've found online are really expensive, thanks for providing a more economical option. Beautiful hair btw!!!

  • I have a good question for a video if you choose to talk about it. How do men react to you when they see or know that u have naturally long, full, healthy hair? Also do u have a BF? I'm not asking for myself. I'm a straight woman, married with a baby. :-) Just curious.

  • lol...I didn't take the question as a come on :D

The guys that I see in passing sometimes tell me how nice my hair is. I think it's nice to see men and women of color embracing afros and natural hair.

I would make a vid about it, but that's about as far as the interaction goes lol..

    take care

  • Don't worry about 3:50. A lot of products have testers these days so poke away sweety. That's what I do!

  • Also I'd like to comment. When you get 'healthy' in any form your old friends and family oddly enough will get 'salty' with you but not while your in transition. I learned that through other means in life. Peace and love!

  • Thanks for the tips especially when buying heat protecting spray, running over your fingers for a residue. Good idea! Also about buying the correct types of rat tail combs.

  • how did you learn so much about hair??

  • Trial and error, hair forums, google and asking my hair braider who just graduated from beauty school even though she has been working in a salon for many years.

  • Hmm, I hate to say that someone is "hating", but friends have been jealous over some things so I don't deal with many people.

My family...a few are "salty" or aggravated by my growth somehow but most are relieved after seeing my hair after the BC lol

guys..call me all sorts of godesses and queens and holy mothers lmao

strangers tend to stare..but it's apparent who cares more than the next person...

I get compliments from ALL types of people, so that has been an eye opener for me

  • do you get hated on a lot? lol. I'm for real, how do people react to your hair? Your friends? Family? Class mates? Guys?

  • no.

Other people on yt have flat ironing tutorials if you are antsy though.

  • gud vids..bt did u flatiron ur hair yet

  • lol @ combs that make "songs & melodies"...I know exactly what your talking about though, lol

  • You are beautiful! :0)

  • Ty so much!!! <3

  • Overall a great tips video but... For those who must open/test before purchasing, please dribble the product onto your fingers instead of rubbing the pump and product along your skin (as seen in the video 3:36 to 3:46) to prevent potential contamination and spreading germs. Thanks in advance! : )

  • you are most correct. A notation has been made :)

  • great video thanks for the tips;-0 when i first went natural i wanted the metal pick with the hand ;-0 lol but i bought a pack of goodie picks and they are awesome:-)

  • LOL @ 2:09-2:16

  • Excellent information...

  • i agree with the metal pick when first became natural i found that it pull my hair out.

  • Loving all the information thanks soo much!! just the kind of info i had been looking for :)

  • anytime AT ALL!

    ty for being patient :)

  • I love your videos...just one piece of advice..no disrespect.

When you are testing products in the store..please just spray them and don't open the bottle...you are contaminating the product with bateria when you run your finger on the tubing like that.

Once again. No disrespect...just out of concern for those who end up buying the product after you.

    Love your videos! Be blessed.

  • You are most correct!! ty :)

I also made a notation in the description box so hopefully you may purchase your heat protecting sprays in peace lol.

    <3 enjoy your week

  • lol. you too sister. :0)

  • @nocturne1980

I feel you, but seriously, the factories where they package these products are probably not a clean room either.

  • LOL!!! at the combs that play songs and melodies :) Thanks for the tips girl.

  • lol, ty so much for watching :D

  • Thanks for the tips. I never thought to scratch my scalp before washing I need to do that because I tend to get itchy scalp.
