  • They have cows on board

  • Who works for the US works for Terrorists

  • I bet if you had any loose teeth they'd have gone through the windscreen

  • It sounds like my old vacuum cleaner struggeling with the carpet

  • Hey like this comment if you think that frosty kid should stand up the commander of the air force and say that "he would rather be gay than join the air force" thing to his face... My belief is that he would be mugged... And raped in the ear

  • what's the "zigzag" thing on the canopy glass?

  • @dumdum212 I believe it is parachute cord to smash the canopy when the pilot ejects.

  • @DAZEonPC Oh okay. I guess so they don't end up like "Goose" in TopGun?!

  • @dumdum212 its explosives to fracture the canopy during ejection

  • @johnd2282 To prevent being like Goose, understood. youtu.be/04TqHE_PDTU?t=1m12s

  • Whoaa. This is so cool! Those things stop on a dime! Thanks for giving us this perspective. This is on my to do list before I die; fly as a front seat passenger on a military fighter jet. USA rocks!!!!

  • @vidiansodality they can hit a dime you flip in the air going 850 miles an hour, 10 feet above the ground, and return to base, when you still think about what the hell just happend

  • Balls of steel!

  • That is so awesome. Good video.

  • Damn - the finals are SHORT.

  • or maybe aviator? I can't remember

  • @dereklsept my dad was a c-130 navigator in the gulf war (navy)

  • I didn't realize how far down the deck the wires were. That's some scary stuff

  • With all the sensor technology and GPS why don't let the jets land themselves aboard carriers for greater accuracy and safety? Seriously, the F/A-18 super hornet flys itself off the deck for the first 3 seconds, then the pilot take over. It seems like with lasers, imaging cameras, GPS, etc... these modern planes can calculate the aircraft carrier's position and their position to withing inches and adjust the landing perfectly. The flight controls are not really flown by pilots.. fly by wire.

  • @stevenabb Computers don't have instinct.

  • Right after graduation ima join the Navy but i wanna be an F-16 or any fighter jet pilot an i would like to do wat can i do now to make it easier for me

  • @Frosttty go fuck yourself. any person in any branch of any of the US military deserves respect..youre probably some low life in his moms basement playing flight simulator. get some respect and for the men and women who do what they do so you can continue to be such an asshole.

  • ahhh.. they must be in the persian gulf.. only place ive seen with water that still.

  • Hooyah!

  • battlefield 3 has better graphics

  • The ocean looks like a blanket...

  • An Air Force guy would shit his pants doing this

  • @heywoodjublome1 Maybe. Flare to land=squat to pee.

  • @heywoodjublome1 very true!!! Runways dont move away at nine degree angles!!!!! I was with VMFA-312 Marines on the Enterprise for a cruise and the4 HS Truman for the final cruise of my career!!!! Chair Force is a joke!!!!!

  • @ironcitydevildog don't let the desk jockeys jobs affect your thinking that the entire air force is like that. 90% of the air force supports the real air force, maintainers and aircrew

  • @kalahiki808 I was a maintainer in the US Marine Corps!!! The Air Force did 10% of what we did with the Navy!!! Sorry. Navy/Marine Corps are better fighter pilots...statistics dont lie!!!!

  • @ironcitydevildog That's a really stupid comment, and you have no valid statistics. Having pride in your branch is one thing, but you're just a douche.

  • I used to land on aircraft carriers, then I took an arrow to the knee.

  • @holtws I used to make skyrim jokes, then I took a vagina to the penis.

  • Imagine going to work and doing that everyday....respect!

  • Humans have achieved some awesome shit.

  • sounds like there is a cow in the cockpit!

  • That is seriously coo!!

  • Pretty cool.

  • I would shit myself

  • nice video :)

  • T-45 Goshawk?

  • @ewing224 Yep. Carrier landing t/o cruise. If they complete this training, they'll be ready for the real deal.

  • I used to be an expert landing in dangerous places, on F-18 and blackhawks choppers, then... I woke up :P

  • easy job

  • This makes me feel proud of our US Navy.

  • Very impressive. Working on the deck of an aircraft carrier must be one of the most dangerous jobs going.

  • thank a veteran...especially a Navy Pilot!

  • way cool...thanks for posting....

  • Cool

  • Flare to land.....squat to pee.

  • shit that looks hard!

  • This game has great graphics

  • Thank you so much amigo for doing what you do. God bless! U.S. ROCKS!

  • Not that this is the first time I've noticed it or anything, but I've never thought to ask before: why is the landing runway on carriers offset at an angle from the direction of the ship?

  • @reluctable So they can land and take off at the same time and during a bolter or unsuccessful landing the jet would not hit anything on the flight deck while executing a go around.

  • @JMLedy Makes perfect sense, ty.

  • @reluctable I believe it allows the landing area to be a bit longer... plus it doesn't encroach on the front area of the carrier where the catapults are located.

  • Yes but what the name of the plane ?

  • not a very good or smooth landing. someone needs more instruction.

  • i was really scared.

  • CALL MY BALLS

  • how do you become one of the ground crew people in the military?

  • @nastypop Call a recruiter. It's easy. Tell them you wanna be in Navy Aviation. First they will make you work long hours in a ships kitchen (galley). Usually 30-90 days. Then you will go wash some planes and "inspect them" before take off and after landing. They call this a "Plane Captain" or affectionately a TURD SHIRT. Then after about a year of that if you arent TOO GOOD at being a PC they might let you go work in the job you actually went to school for which is fixing those leaky bastards.

  • @SacredSocietyAP haha ill stick to marshaling civil aircraft for american airlines.

  • What so hard... he's got all those people helping him...

  • @robbyperez Don't knock it till you try it. Apparently the damn Air Force can't do it...They build their planes so pussy that they can't even land on a carrier or it will rip the landing gear off. ...Another great way to avoid sea duty...Carry On!!!

  • @SacredSocietyAP Yeah, but you can't sink an Air Force carrier with just one missile...and if the runway becomes unserviceable, the next one is only a few miles away. ;-) (That said, gotta salute the Navy (and Marine) pilots for landing on a moving postage stamp!)

  • I love the whining sound.

  • in how many seconds parking your car ?

  • air force and navy pilots have different mission profiles. neither is better than the other. navy pilots can land on a boat, air force pilots are better at dog fighting. it all works out in the end to prove the USA has the best pilots in the world and that is undisputed.

  • just going to add my two cents to this. my grandad a retired airforce pilot and the navy guys are more skilled ones the airforce pilots have the utmost respect for the guys who can land on a moving target.

  • @whemadre

Are you serious or are you just stupid? You obviously have never done anything related to military flying. What purpose would the Air Force have taking off and landing on a carrier? Absolutely none. The planes are even designed with different landing gear characteristics for different purposes. Quit trolling around on youtube trying to act like a thug, you're just making yourself sound even more pathetic.

  • Air Force no balls. Straight in from twenty miles. Sounds more gay than a quick left turn and slamming it on a pitching deck at night. Deck crew has more balls too. Air Force boys wait at the hanger and salute. Big deal.

  • @whemadre fail troll is fail

  • To land on a carrier, you are required to have balls of steel.

  • These are the type of planes they used in HOT SHOTS with Charlie Sheen... winningggggg!!!!!!

  • Quite tight:O

  • @subforrun

Lol you mean soldiers are rejects.

  • navy Pilots are all rejects.

  • @subfourrun awkward....

  • @subfourrun they arent pilots, they're aviators

  • @kalahiki808 thannks for setting me straight...I have 3000 hours in navy aircraft...1310!

  • @subfourrun Nice What do you fly?

  • @tenacious645 ...Most of my time was EC-130 G/Q ...

  • There's an official word for this sort of act: Sketchy.

  • they yellow guy moves fast!

  • Now try that at night,... during a storm 20 to 30 foot seas.

  • T-45?

  • @MiizStY i think so. or a BAe Hawk

  • @Nicholas7478i It's a T-45 Goshawk, same shell as a hawk.

  • Absolute sickness

  • Whats the plane called? T.45 ?

  • WOW!

  • The dirty Ike....horrible ship

  • ...respect..

  • If every day at sea were that calm and clear they'd even let Air Force guys do it.

  • @gjferg So sad to see someone talk about the military that way. Their trained equally. You can keep up your political standpoint on it though. :)

  • @domsaleo Apparently, it was an inside joke. On the other hand, the Air Force has much cleaner planes!

  • @domsaleo bahahaha, you must be joking? HUGE difference between AF pilots and naval aviators. They arent trained together, go to totally different schools.

A naval aviator receives more training beyond an air force pilot. They fly different, their aircraft are difference, their mission often different.

There is a reason most NASA astronauts are also naval aviators.

  • @2204Alpha And plenty of them are from the Air Force too, so chill. It's not like flying the Shuttle is anything like flying an F-18.

  • @2204Alpha Really, might want to look up the phrase "JUPT"

  • @gjferg OH DAMN!

  • @gjferg

Yeah, and now that they repealed don't ask don't tell, now navy guys can join the Air Force.

  • @dogboy182 Would rather be gay than join the Air Force, lol!

  • @Frosttty

lol yeah okay. Your choice :))

  • @dogboy182 now now, dont be upset that we have better toys.

  • @dogboy182

Now that don't ask, don't tell is history, Air Force "men" will get to try to land on a carrier as opposed to a 12,000 foot runway. Hope they don't shit their pants!

  • Comment removed

  • @gjferg You have something against the U.S. Air Force? We all work for the same cause, no matter what branch of the military we're in, so stop being a dickhead!

  • @gjferg So why they even need to include the Catapult Hooker on all Air Force Aircraft? Just wonder. Because they are all designed to be able to land on the carrier if need to. All Pilot are trained to do so i believe.

  • ahhh the Ike haven't seen that deck since '90. thank you for the trip down memory lane.

  • what wire did he snag? the 3 wire?

  • that was the first time that deployment huh

  • Is that F18 fighter

  • @pkpk614350 nop.....its a t-45 goshawk....

  • T-45 Goshawk?

  • landing clerance?

  • Lord, I've even seen the USMC land KC-130 Hercules on aircraft carriers before, and yes its possible if the deck is big enough, look it up I'm sure theres a youtube video out there.

  • @NineSlipperySlopes Negative. The airplane in the vid is a T-45 Goshawk trainer. Harriers are not equipped for CATOBAR operations.

  • Would this just be a training plane, or would regular pilots fly this aircraft in lieu of whatever they are qualified on for their periodic flight quals (i.e. F-18, S-3, E-2)?

  • I doubt a Marine Corps pilot would say that he flew a GR9. As others have said, this is a Navy Goshawk. There are USMC squadrons assigned to Navy ships, but Harriers are assigned to assault ships and Hornets to carriers.

  • @NineSlipperySlopes I don't think half of these people know what they are talking about or got it from a credible source. And yes you can land Harrier GR9's on Navy Carriers, for certain missions, i flew multiple aircraft including the FA18E SuperHornet and I have also seen other Harriers land on carriers I have been on before i flew Harriers. Harrier GR9's are probably the safest to land on Carriers.

  • This is a Harrier GR9 I used to pilot these in the United States Marine Corps and yes they can land on carriers like this.

  • @bradyxxballer USMC plane on USN ship? does this happen alot or just training?

  • @akinkhoo yeah alot

  • @akinkhoo The USMC is part of the USN. Therefore, it happens quite frequently.

  • @336kgf that is so wicked... =)

  • @akinkhoo yeah the USMC lands their jets on a lot of Navy carriers, the Marines are a Department of the Navy.

  • ur1off dude in yellow is FDO normally a pilot

  • thats gotta be a av 8b harrier ii

  • @BenDick1997 - No, Harriers dont land that way, nor do they operate off the regular fleet carriers. It's a T-45.

  • @DuraLexSedLex thanks

  • urrrrg........ is this video sped up? yes i realize jets are fast but everything happened kind of quick

  • RESPECT.

    ...damn.

  • @surry505...first guys, this is definitely a T-45 Goshawk. And that cord you see in the windscreen actually is an explosive. It's called MDC, or mild detonating cord, actuated by the MDC handles or either ejection handle. It's used to disintegrate/shatter the canopy prior to ejection or in an emergency egress on the ground. The Goshawk doesn't have a canopy jettison system, and the seat itself has prongs on top as a backup method to punch through the glass in case the MDC doesn't fire.

  • @bigdmid I think failure of the MDC is what killed Goose :(

  • One day this'll be my view....

  • I highly doubt it's a Prowler. Looks more like a trainer Goshawk.

  • @AznLolgic I agree 100%. Not a Prowler for sure.

  • THIS IS AN EA6-B PROWLER.

  • mad video!

  • FUCK THAT!

  • LOL! That's not plastic explosive, it's an antenna. It's hard to have an antenna whipping in the wind at speed, so they embed them in the canopy. BTW, in the event of ejection, the canopy is ejected first, and then the pilot moments later.

Whoever told you it's plastic explosives was either full of it, or pulling your leg. If that were plastic explosives, it would kill the pilot too, which would defeat the purpose.

  • @scurry505 I heard it was an explosive strip to blow the canopy away when using the ejector seat.

  • @scurry505 Many aircraft types (e.g., the BAe Hawk and the Harrier line of aircraft) use Canopy Destruct systems, which have an explosive cord (MDC - Miniature Detonation Cord or FLSC - Flexible Linear Shaped Charge) embedded within the acrylic plastic of the canopy. From Wikipedia

  • @scurry505 false. It's Mild Detonation Cord

  • @scurry505 Lol...do a little research man.

  • I think its a seahawk naval trainer that pilot really has some serious skills, and that wire you look over the canopy is plastic explosive to blow the canopy away in the envent of an ejection nice vid

  • I've always wondered what those wire looking things are on the canopy. What are they?

  • Awesome video! Does anyone know what type of aircraft this is??

  • @dave4shmups A-4 perhaps? If they still fly even, lol. Or some trainer.

I have no idea what else it could be.

  • @oporim EA6-b Prowler

  • @dave4shmups EA6 B Prowler

  • wow,i always wanted to be a pilot since i was little. it got harder when i saw top gun from tom cruise....

  • Rock on!

  • Killer, always what I wanted to do when I was young after seeing, "final countown" with Martin Sheen. I couldn't make the cut, so thanks for putting it up, I can actually experience it somewhat. Kick ass, take names, chew bubble gum.

  • This is not mass sports !

  • My uncle, who served on the old Lex, says that landing on a flattop could be described as a "controlled crash". And I thought he was putting me on!

  • 25 co-pilots dislike this .haha

  • @sufian3s lol

  • @sufian3s ... Co-pilots fly the planes too...

  • @sufian3s co-pilots? u know they fly planes too, right? u think they r just sittin next to the pilot, nahh, i know this is old, :P

  • that's MDC cord and it shatters the canopy prior to ejection.

  • T-45s are wierd

  • Just love watching the guys on the deck at work.

  • Quick question, are those metal rods running through the canopy for when a pilot ejects the canopy is released and comes off the plane and then the glass shatters on the canopy from a small explosive so that the pilot dose'nt hit it?

  • @ScoutWolfSW Those "Rods" in a "Z" type pattern are a radio antenna!

  • @F900Driver Ok thanks... (feels like an idiot for not knowing that).

  • How cool was that?

  • I love the hawk!

  • Actually, he's flying a T-45 Goshawk, not an F-18 or a F-14. You can see the "stripes" in the glass cockpit at 0:44 minutes.

  • The boats did rock with the F-14 landings. Cat shots were normally experienced forward on the 03 level, but not below decks.

  • Actually, the empty weight of an F-18 is about 23,000 lbs, or about 12 tons, not 000.003 tons. 000.003 tons is only 6 lbs. That would be about the weight of a radio-controlled model airplane.

  • @Brianb2970 So true...

  • If only Australia owned carriers :( sigh

  • im surprised the boat never rocks when landings and takeoffs happen

  • @legoman5188

carrier: nearly 100.000 tons. fighter plane: less than 000.003 tons. no hope of rocking the big one.

  • @paulrandig True, true

  • Smooth!
