  • Phenomenal, great job on this It's actually very impressive.

  • O_o best fight i ve ever seen

  • Wonderful movement, fluid and precise. Thank you!

  • YES! Wonderful! Choreographed swordplay that actually looks like a fight! I knew it was somewhere!

  • shabby on the footwork

  • you still got it! your virginity, that is... nerds

  • @ninja1018 Said the guy whose nickname on youtube is "Ninja1018"... Idiot. They would rip off your head by barely looking at it. But they are civilised persons, unlike you Troll

  • @maaderllin They're also very manly looking German people. You don't mess with someone who fence without a shirt on.

  • Nice fight and techniques. It's just far too fast! The swords would be a lot heavier so why not giving them weight when you use them, it was almost as fast as a smallsword fight. It looked too easy for you guys, make it look like effort. Plus pauses add so much more drama.

    Good work though.

  • @cjenko87

That's not too fast at all. The swords didn't weigh much.

I think the whole point of removing the typical cheesy pauses in this is to create a more realistic fight sequence.

  • @Asgath I defy you to watch any broadsword/greatsword sparring on here and no one fights that fast. I'm not saying you have bad technique or the choreography isn't awesome. I just don't believe it was spontaneous or you were thinking on your feet. Surely you want it to look real? No one thinks that fast, unless you're a Jedi which logic tells me no one is.

  • @cjenko87 I know that some sparring can be really fast. Like one with Axel Pettersson vs Robert Molin.

    watch?v=DO_iS0W1IEE

watch 0.55 to 0.57. Axel have time to do a zornhau, wind, thrust, Zwerchau, and an other cut in just 2 seconds and he seems relaxed.

If you want to see really fast western fighting, you should see this clip

    watch?v=mjT4JepA-Vc

Sure, it's not sparring, just demonstration of techniques, but it shows how quickly you can fight, if you feel it in your bones.

    Have a nice day.

  • @cjenko87

I find big pauses to be too cheesy as well. I like a fight scene to make sense, and when two people just stare at eachother, motionless, it breaks suspension of disbelief for me, cause when I fight a dude, I'm not going to waste time, I'm going waste HIM! (heheh, see what I did there? :p)

  • ich hab da mal 2 fragen:

    1. wo trainiert ihr?

    2. kann man bei euch mitmachen?

  • @Manythor

Mein Deutsch ist nicht so gut, so I will try to answer in English.

I think that Zornhau train in Offenbach, near Frankfurt.

  • yay real sword fighting!!!! so tired of samurai's getting all the credit as the best. western swordsmanship is very underrated throughout america and else where.

  • all the guys with cool hobbies wear black clothes and have long hair xD

    sehr schön!

    go on like this!

  • great job. mega show battle. and looking so rly. [; greating from polish knights!

  • excelllent show wrong place though could have been in a castle or cathedral

  • the historical techniques seem to be both, great show-off and pragmatic!

  • Nice work! Especially fighting through the hair!

  • heavys

  • I think this is an excellent step in showing that you don't have to throw away historical techniques in order to make a stage fight entertaining.

    thanks for the vid

  • did a great job,well done indeed!!!

  • very good!!congratulations!

  • holly shit the guy on the left is a fuckin beast :D good work men

  • absolutely beautiful. I love the energy in this, plus you kept to the actual techniques of the time XD

  • Depends on how you want to see it. I see it as wildly smashing swords in a way to mimic the actual techniques. The real techniques were flowing and full of guile rather than flailing. As a full contact martial artist once told me, "the transitions are more important than the actual moves."

  • lol. i bet they used what worked and not made up fantasies from watching too many movies.

these guys are very skilled. i commend them.

  • LECKER!!!

  • that was good. u guys look medieval too, i think its the hair

  • yup it is, because in the middle ages the knights and the foot soldiers have longer hair, that was just the style in the greater times

  • Superbe combat !

    Amae Temporis

  • Hey that was fantastic! I loved it! Good job!

  • @Boswachter:

No Zornhäue? But you know what a Zornhau is?

  • Strike of Wrath

  • If they were to slow it down you would see what it is they were doing. But very nice work!

  • that's how you hold it. it's a SWORD not a LIGHTSABER!

  • The blade is not the only offensive tool of a sword

  • what do you mean? when he is holding it at the grip and the blade? correct me if im wrong but that is whats called a half-sword stance mostly used during armored combat. but it can be used in either, so no its not gay and that is how to hold a sword.

  • those real swords??!?!

  • No, they are made of sugar. ;)

  • That was great. How long did you guys work on that piece?

  • some hours, ..dont know... we forgot. ;)

  • Kinda fun calling it zornhau.. since there was not even 1 zornhau in the inteir film -.- other then that nice stage fight xD wouldn't go on the battle field though.. you wouldn't get your ass kicked ;)

  • Our Company is called Zornhau, its not the "title" of this stagefight or something like this.

  • funny dance

  • Awesome..You can almost hear the sound of the swords clashing in your head..no need for sound on this one:p

  • Spoken like a true 'fanboi'

  • awesome :)

  • Dont mess with these guys at live steel battles lol!

Good vid, shame about no sound.

  • Hallo Freunde,

  • MMM,hmmm. It's never good to be off balance and taking such "small steps" tend to do that. Stepping into the swing increases power and stepping away with a block increases leverage. Besides blocking with a mid blade hold can also use bastard and 2 handed swords for "spearing", "pomeling", and "hammering"

  • @xlaym:

    @Zornhau

Echt schön anzusehen. Aber wo ist der Schutz? :(

  • mr. no-shirt is very good and quicklike

  • You rarley see the "murder blow" being performed. Most people I've sparred with only think in terms of blade and hilt as being seperate entities

  • good work :)

  • Ziemlich geil. Schön anzuschauen. Macht weiter so. Mfg

  • varie nice

  • Prima!

  • :O awesome!

  • Nice play! Good sometimes daring techniques. Keep going. Signed: Dutch swordfighter (with the Liechtenauer learnings)

  • Hm...

schicker, schneller Schaukampf; find ich gut.

  • bloody awesome

  • very good techniques,nice work

    Ganz ausgezeichnet.

  • That was friggin awesome! I wish there had been sound.

  • Very fun to watch, quite believable. Great job, thanks for sharing.

  • I like the believable moves while 'locked', the punches and kicks, etc. I never see that in staged fights, and I know that I would be doing it dirty if I was ever in a real fight--my life is on the line, right?

nice job, really believable. Best longsword duel I've seen yet

  • I love the half sword moves, very nice flow and quite believable, even though we all know that in a real fight it would be over in one tenth of the time. But I have to say, if I was to fight with a longsword I'd have my hair tied back :P

  • Gout gout. Very nice. I like the intensity of this skirmish and the smooth execution of techniques.

  • One of the most flashing and impressive executions of Liechtenauer's Fechtkunst! Great work!

  • Awesome!

That's pretty fast and realistic-looking for a staged fight. Lots of moves incorporated here as opposed to the occasional jabs in most real fights :P

  • great stuff.

  • Hey! Awesome video! Could you take a look at ours?

    Thanks much!

*lacht*

    Nun, macht weiter so!

  • Hi...

  • Nice, but tell me in the second half of the vid the guy to the left uses armored techniques, right? Why?

  • 5/5 :) very cool

  • Very impressive work from Zornhau. A great combination of action and excitement with a smattering of realism. Great stuff.

  • are those sharps or blunts? If blunt, steel or aluminum?

  • very cool, were are you guys?i would love to get together for a practice and discussion about the kunst you seem to love as much as you do

  • Very, very, very cool. You guys have got it down. Just flashy enough to be interesting while realistic enough to be believable.
