  • so funny

  • Make an electro magnet. Computer-controlled timing to change poles as necessary.

  • @Capesports4 Ι I think that having a magnet with just a single pole is impossible

  • @red33m23 It is.

  • I know the Jeremy-solution: More Power!

  • use a monopole magnet

  • LOL. No Richard is not right. Am I the only one who realises that to prevent the 'head on collision' all you need is magnets on the front of the car??????????? What numpty would have such a big magnet that his car became fucking polarised.

  • one could orient the magnets in front and on the rear so that the magnetic north-pole would face outwards, so it actually would work without 2 cars ever attracting each other (always repelling each other)

It would work perfectly as long as everything single car, lorry, bus,... has it.

The only minor issue would be bicycles, motor bikes, size weight & cost

  • i woulnt work cause it would probably fuck up all the electronics and stuff in the car . For the same reason why you cannot bring magnets on the plane or put them near a computer.

  • Whouldnt having them all the same pole work? Lol

  • "the laws of physics"

"don't worry I'll soon get around them"

    Clarkson is amusing xP

  • @CookieCreamCrumble yeah JC is made of win lol

  • i wish i could do this shit for a living got to love this show

  • nice Idea to pick your children up from school .she comes running out of school whit her brasses just zoom past end collect them off your bumper when you are at home.

  • 'Some say that he isn't machine washable and that all his pot plants are called Steve'

  • You're not suppose to question troll science. Obviously, Clarkson here has trolled everyone who questioned his theory.

  • although it wouldn't work, i wouldn't mind seeing an episode in which they test out this theory

  • If it worked, you would ruin your transmission when you get pushed backwards when youre driving forwards wouldnt you?

  • @mcyees1 If one is added at the back, it would be a push a war, it is also bad for other metal around like bikers getting pushed out. 2nd then every railing and side walk will need magnets to counter the cars being pushed on the side walk. Then it would turn into bumper cars without the bumping. Just imagine parking too, all the cars can't park at all to the point no one can get out of the parking zone. Some driver comes in an pushed your car in to the water, people, etc.

  • I tried it, bad idea.

  • Jeremy is a legend!

  • The fact that this whole magnet car thing is being seriously discussed on here explains to me that the world really is doomed.

  • @monkeyboy85 You don't watch the show much do you?

  • @theoxtheory I mean on youtube not topgear.

  • How to not crash. Recorded with a potato

  • Problem science??? #Trollface#

  • If somehow u can switch on and switch off a magnate, then it might work. What u can do is u can have the magnate connected with the emergency brakes. Only when the emergency breaks are pressed would the magnates switch on, otherwise thd remain off, but then both the drivers who are plannin on crashing into each other, would have to switch on thr magnates/emergency breaks at the same time. So essentially, its a bull shit plan, meanwhile we can put all that effort into improving our driving skills

  • So what happens when you come across a plastic bodied car? ;) And think of all the credit card strips you could wipe out while driving. :D

  • He is a Dr of Engineering, twice.

  • @suleman021 I believe he has an "honorary degree"

  • well he is right and when you near some other car you should be able to just put lead in front of the magnet that way no more magnetism and there is no pushing cars together end of solution

  • Jezza xx I will find a way round the laws is physics xx lol gotta luv themxx

  • You can have the magnet battery powered- turned on by sensors.

  • it wouldn't work, richard is right, because you'll have to be extremely cautious in a parking lot (as richard says) and we women dont drive really well... '.'

  • To counter Richard's point, just put North facing magnets on both ends of the car, quite simple really. This also eliminates the need for speed limit signs and/or speedos in general, because if you come within either poles' magnetic field you'll automatically be pulled back.

  • @knguyen406 But then you could push another car across a red light from behind :)

  • what happens if to cars are north?

  • Even if you'd have magnets on the cars heading towards each other you would still have this massive deacceleration when the both Northpoles repell each other, so even if the cars wouldnt actually hit each other you would still experience the same forces as you would in a normal crash.

  • @00je00 Same amount of force yes, but if the force is over a longer period of time, the impact of the force will be lessened.

If you had electro magnets that activated just before a crash and repelled eachother, they'd start applying force in opposite directions before the cars actually touched. So when they do hit they've already been slowed down some.

  • it would work if all the magnets are pointing for example N & there is no metal on the road

  • if this did work.. the magnet will stop the car and force it backward.. an even more painfull way to come out the windsheild!

  • 0:42 See! No head-on crash! You just hit the thing next to you!

Or in this case...fall off a big cliff

  • The laws of phisics is quite a big one

  • 0:42 I wonder what the pedestrians would say....oh yeah they're going to be dead.

  • JEREMY CLARKSON FOR KING!!

  • if you put a good driver behind the wheel of a car with a brain. he probably wont crash hah

  • @mikedsm12 The Stig, maybe?

  • Funny, because I always had this as an idea when I was very young maybe 9 or so.

  • If you had it set up so all cars has the north or south poles facing outward, that would prevent you from being pulled into the ahead of you...........however, if they're strong enough, htey could push the cars away from each other, possibly pushing the lead car into traffic at an intersection............kinda have to wonder what would happen if you didn't have the same magnets on the sides of the cars though0_o

  • what episode and season is this?

  • Comment removed

  • @pinkuggboots1 no sh1t sherlock

  • @pinkuggboots1 every pole attracts an opposite hole..

  • @pinkuggboots1 What clarkson says.....goes. So it would work.

  • @pinkuggboots1 LOL.
