my grandad told me a story that he met this guy twice in 2 fishing matches and they bet each other that one of them would win, my grandad beat him both times haha, i was proud to call him my grandad.
i remember buying my bait and tackle from Marks and Marlow in leicester when i was a kid and being served by him. "where ya fishin?" he'dsay, "down on the soar"...."some lovely roach in there...try the peg by the pack horse bridge". brilliant stuff! i still fish there now 20 years later, ive had some lovely bream and tench aswell.
my grandad used to be very good mates with ivan marks, they both used to do match fishing together with bob nudd. bob and mark used to stay round his house all the time.
I was fishing today with his son chris marks, he's a legend, my 1st time fishing and it was with chris all day it was amazing he knows his stuff!! I had 25 and my biggest was 10lb : ) what a day! I'd like to have met his dad too he seems just like him : )
