I was not aware of these battles...I have some postage stamps of these regions which I assume are forgeries...now I will find the history online...thanks!
samaa mieltä. ainakin koko Karjala on liitettävä suomeen. samaa mieltä olen Kuolan niemimaasta. tosin nykyään asiat ovat ihan toisin... meidän maata kummiskin alunperin. kielellisesti, kulttuurillisesti, geneettisesti, historiallisesti & maantieteellisesti.
kyllä tää on yksi ja sama kappale :) oikea mestariteos... kaunis. eli esittäjä on John Williams - Last of the mohicans (main theme) mutta tää on joku taiteellisempi versio :) ei se mikä elokuva versiossa.
@JTK666 Kurt was excellent in the north but when he was on the Mannerheim line, he fell apart and drank for 3 days straight until Mannerheim reassigned him, he was replaced by Gen'l Oesch - source: A Frozen Hell by William Trotter...still Kurt's command of the far north was exceptional and it's unfortunate he did not remain in the open ground where he was most effective...
It's very sad how the Finnish government didn't support the expeditions into Ingria, Karelia, Kola and Estonia (and Livonia?). Had it done so, we would've no doubt captured Petrograd (St.Petersburg) in conjunction with White Russian forces attacking from the south and thus radically changed the history of the world. For a small period of time, the fate of the world once again rested on Finland's hands.
Another note: The map at 3:28 shows incorrect borders of Karelia. In reality White Karelia extends much more north to Kantalahti and does not include the Finnish ceded territory of the eastern portions of Salla-Kuusamo. And yes, I know this map is from Wikipedia but it's incorrect and is based on the borders of the so called "Republic of Karelia" within the Russian Federation. The other maps of East Karelia in this video are correct.
By "White Russia" I think the author means White Karelia, a.k.a. Vienan Karjala. In 1920 the Karelians at Uhtua decided to join Finland, but since that option soon didn't seem possible, they opted for an independent East Karelia instead. Anything but the terror of Russian rule would do.
Also, the "Heimosodat" means the "Kindred peoples' wars" or "Wars of Kindred peoples". Often also erronously translated as the "Tribal Wars".
I know the history of the occupation of Finland lands. Karelia was eastern part of Finland, and it belongs to Finland. Hovewer since communism, Russia took control of Karelia and refuse to return the territory back to Finland. Russian goverments (Tsar, sovjets, now Putin) are always trying to steal territories from their neighbours, they are agrressors and invaders. They make conflict between the neighbouring countries to take advantage of and occuppy territory.

Ei Venäjä ole oikeasti mikään mahtava maa.
Siellä on asiat päin helvettiä.

Itä-Karjala ainakin kuuluu Suomelle.

There are several mistakes in this video.
