This was some episode whose premise was "what if America had the same kind of cult personality" prior to 1939, set in the late 50's under MacArthyism.
This is one of the most chilling and spine - tingling episodes of the twilight zone. This particular scene would give u goosebumps..Hitler looks so real! But what really scares me is the last narration of Rod Serling after Dennis Hopper got killed.... "He lives where there is hatred, bigotry and prejudice...!"
Twilight Zone has been my most favorite TV show. This episode was my 2nd favorite becuase that Hitler part freaked me out. But would anybody know the name of that drumbeat?
the scariest thing about this episode is not in it's content, but rather, the fact that hate mails start flooding the office claiming Rod Sterling to be 'commie sympathizer' or 'nigger lovers'. i think that's the scariest part.
It's too bad they didn't have the man who played Hitler in "Downfall" available when they made this episode of "The Twilight Zone". The one who plays him here does a pretty good job, though.

It was good of Rod Serling to tackle these issues. Around the time this episode came out, George L. Rockwell had formed the American Nazi Party. Unlike today, when we just ignore these buffoons, in the early 1960s, Rockwell's Party got a lot of attention in the press. This episode has the ghost of Hitler, but in a way you could consider it Hitler's "spirit," which remains alive in the thoughts and actions of racists and bigots. Hence the title of this episode.
It's one of my favorites.

The Twilight Zone was one of the greatest shows on the air. The imagination of the episodes were years ahead of it's time, as seen in this one.Rod Serling and the rest of the writers were genius.

This was some episode whose premise was "what if America had the same kind of cult personality" prior to 1939, set in the late 50's under MacArthyism.

This is one of the most chilling and spine - tingling episodes of the twilight zone. This particular scene would give u goosebumps..Hitler looks so real! But what really scares me is the last narration of Rod Serling after Dennis Hopper got killed.... "He lives where there is hatred, bigotry and prejudice...!"
