It has many views due to the fact, that it's 20 years old. Mainstream is when they're creating music, that has already or almost been made. @RoederGaming mainstream is whats popular, not necessarily what everyone else is doing. its what the general public may be thinking about. for example Nirvana. a current example in hip hop being someone like KiD CuDi, many rap listeners know and love him. however he is still somewhat of a hipster, he uses a style of music that people don't generally use in hip hop. he has essentially made his own style, while still being a rapper that most of the rap community likes.
