  • Saw whiteout at the 100 club in London in march 1994 they supported oasis that night anyone else there that can remember the longpigs being on first, i am sure they were.

  • Can someone tell me why the mane of this song is 'Detroit'?

  • this is my fave song ever!

  • dee troyt!!!!!!!!!

  • Underrated. Good work lads.

  • top top band..seen em also at boro arena with the joint oasis thing!! not many people there..shame they never got the recognition they deserved.

  • The guy who played the guitar in this band is my Spanish teacher in school- ERIC LINDSAY = LEGEND

  • heyyy dudes awesome song, cheers for the upload...

anyone know where we can come across their videos...?

    know someone in one:)

  • Sheez, I remember coming back to halls in London in 1993 and seeing these guys at 3am on the TV. Thought I was tripping big time with the 70s gear. Probably was! Saw them ' headline ' in London and Southampton with some band called Oasis as support - at least I think it was that way around!!!

  • Oasis and Whiteout took it in turns to headline on that tour. I saw one of the dates on that tour, in early April 1994, at the Middlesborough Arena. Was cracking stuff.

  • Well remembered ! Pretty sure when I saw them in Southampton at the Joiners Arms it was Whiteout supported by Oasis. At the 100 Club on Oxford St it was the other way around. My halls were around the corner and remember turning up a week too early for the gig. Felt like a complete twat!

  • Everyone who saw Whiteout at the time either live or on TV liked 'em...trouble was Radio 1 (Jakki Brambles excepted) didn't...n the NME fucking hated 'em with a vengeance!! Check out Eli on Myspace - it's Eric's new outfit and there's 4 great tunes on there :)

  • My sisters Spanish teacher was part of this band! Eric Lyndsey!

  • Is there anyplace I can find this song on CD? I picked up an mp3 of it four years ago and have been obsessed with it ever since.

Did they ever put out any proper LPs with this track on it?

  • Not on any proper albums, was the band's last attempt at starrdom b4 effing off back to grenock tails firmly between legs....I have all their singles etc n if my dvd player wasn't knackered I'd put 'em up...good as this is they did better stuff at the time!!!

  • The guitarist from this band is now my spanish teacher! lol

  • Not heard this years-thank you!

  • Fantastic band! Yes they did indeed open the Phoenix Festival '94 ,(what a line up that yr ..iggy,weller, spiritualised, half man half biscuit, blue aeroplanes, john cale , trash cans.....these animal men !!!! Whiteout tipped for the top , by Paul Weller, Bobby Gillespie ,etc ! No Time, Jackie's Racing..classics!

  • Yeah they were tipped for the top by Paul Weller in NME when the not-yet Modfather was relegated to half a back page and was still having the piss taken out of himself by the indie crowd ....6 months later he's a fucking hero and lauding Oasis....But ya make ya own luck in this world, and Whiteout managed to fuck it all up one way or another...pity :(

  • saw them at the phoenix festival , think 94 . they were the opening band on main stage , and were the best band of the weekend !!! fabulous .still treasure their cds

  • I never tire of listening to these lads. Some of the best pop of the 90's...absolutely timeless though. Could have wiped the floor with the bunch of rubbish that emerged during Britpop's heyday. Lookin' forward to a reunion someday...lads?

  • Oh...and 'welcome to your summer holiday, theres no more work just rest and play'.....and Silvertone released it MID SEPTEMBER...durrhhhh...how fucking blonde is that??!! Whoever was running the Whiteout show back then (rumour has it some jumped up clubowner called 'McD' (yeah rite)) just got the whole thing soooo fucking wrong....as Select Magazine said at the time..."Whiteout are the band that put all they had on red...and the wheel came up black" !!!!

  • Mcd shafted them, he was taking about 80% of their earnings due to them being idiots and signing the contract.

  • @pikeman07 ALRIGHT MATE, YOU GOT ANY TRACKS THAT WERENT ON THE ALBUM?

  • Probably one of the best retro-brit-pop-whatever singles of its or any other time...IF it hadn't been them (boy did the music press n industry fuckin hate em) it'd probably be remebered by a shed load more than will find it on here....does anyone remeber that pile of shite menswear? They were the kind of camden bollox the press adored at the time....fk me!!!!

  • Too right, couldn't agree more.

  • They were a great band - with a little bit more luck they would have been right up there with Oasis.

At one point they were sharing a joint headline slot with Oasis and literally a month later Oasis were everywhere and for some reason it just didn't happen for these guys.

  • Ok I'll have to figure out a way of doing it. The video is actually pretty good. Very retro.

They were a year too early for me. 94 was a little premature for them. 95 would have been better - Britpop was really taking off then.

They really looked the part too. Very stylish band.

  • Me too get it on!

  • I have the video for this on VHS somewhere. Who wants it?

  • am i too late?

  • I have the video for this on VHS! I recorded it back in 1994. Who wants it?

  • I would definitely love to see it again, so count me in!

  • I want to!

  • @dannyhowell I'd like to have it!! cound me in :)
