  • I have to confess that I usually express my insecurity by giving negative comments even if I know that there is really no reason to criticize. I feel good when I hurt the feelings of people who never experience what I'm going through. I came to this realization that i won't be a good teacher if I keep this insecurity. Thanks for making me realize that no one can really satisfy everyone. I must fix my own disability before working on my insecurity. I deeply apologize for my comments. Thanks

  • Honestly I don't even have any formal education in communication, I don't have my degree yet. I'm currently employed and study at the same time to earn my degree in education so I could teach. I must admit that I envy people like you who doesn't need to undergo hardship just to get education. I know I am nothing like you, you are confident, knowledgeable, well experienced, you have the authority. In my case, I know i have a lot to learn and lots of experience to encounter,

  • Again I would like to apologize if I offended you, Actually I'm kinda admiring you now after knowing the fact that you are sharing your knowledge for free, and after visiting your FB, again sorry for the words I spoken. Very much like you, I have profound passion for English I'm currently developing lessons and writing books that talks about fluency and all angles of our second language. I guess I'm not ready to receive negative criticisms.

  • PEACE

  • Don't put the blame on the recording environment.

  • We have to consider the most comprehensive way of using English. In your case you have grammatically perfect spoken communication, the only problem is the way you use it verbally which most likely becomes the problem of listeners, your listeners would not understand you with that sort of accent. I've said that Filipinos are the best here in Asia simply because they are easy to understand.

  • Are you offended with my comment? I hope not,I apologize in case. Though, I was just trying to say that when it comes to the international language especially when we are teaching it, all aspects of it should be purely perfect, grammar, pronunciation, accent, intonation, stress, tone, spelling and all technical aspects of English, so that our students could squire the proper way of using it.It is indeed that there is really no perfect accent because even native speaker commit mistakes,

  • We can’t satisfy everyone. All the videoclips I uploaded to youtube

were posted to my facebook walls prior to that and I received 99% positive

feedback. There is a teacher even wrote to me expressing

his thx to me for sharing a lot of useful tips online. If there is just minority

of people expressing their negative views, I won’t take action to rerecord.

Anyway, the gist of the lesson is not about intonation,

it’s about ‘Grammar’. If it's about pronunciation, then I'll b meticulous about it.

  • Anyway, I do notice that I no longer speak with strong British

accent after having resided in M’sia for 10 yrs. Our accent is influenced

by the environment we live in and in M’sia, it’s hard to maintain a good

English accent coz everybody speaks in Manglish.

That’s why I am making the effort to polish up my accent lately by

looking into international phonetics. I guess if there is no conformity in

accent, we should use international phonetics as the guideline.

  • Everyone speaks with individual slang/ accent. If people like your accent, they'll

praise you. If they don't like your accent, they will give sarcastic remarks. It is indeed hard

to please everyone. Good listeners shouldn't have problems with interpreting different

accents around the world e.g. American, Scottish, Welsh, Singlish, Manglish, Indian,

Italian, etc. That's what I think:)

  • The grammar is great but the accent is peculiar, Here in Asia Filipinos are the big best speaker of English.

  • I do admit that when I speak with a higher tone, my accent sounds weird. And I find that I am more suitable for speaking with a lower tone. Sometimes the recording environment can also affect our voice. If the space is too big, our voice is not concentrated. Anyway, no one can claim to speak excellent native-like accent. Even the Caucasians. I always hear them politicking one another that others don't speak 'Real English' with 'Real Accent', Queen English or whatever. No one is the best.
