  • Go full fling for what you believe.

    That's why you were born.

  • YES! This is the film I remember, I watched it years ago on Film4 and I honestly for the life of me remember what it was called. *pops off to Amazon*

  • I pretty much only watch action and horror movies and I never watch manga (cuz I think it sucks) but this movie... was something special...

  • @Ottostl Well, you can't watch manga. You only can read manga. I guess you mean anime

  • @XxXBennoXxX STS...

  • Really I can't remember how many years it has been since I have first seen this movie on tv and still it's my all time favourite! So beautiful, I could watch it a thousand times without ever getting tired of it. Please never ever stop making such incredible art Hayao Miyazaki! <3

  • This is one of the best trailers I've ever seen, the scene and dialogue selections are aweseme

  • it was kinda creepy though but THE BEST!!!!!!!

  • i watched this movie in 2011 last year i wuz 8 and it wuz the best movie EVER!!

  • She with the wolf? I'm with her =3

  • @crockett181 who the fuck says the titantic was the best film of the 90s? what the fuck

  • @tomroxelf

i may not have been clear. wat i meant to say was wen people think films that came out in 1997 they instantly think titanic well i think princess mononoke. theres no need to get worked up about it.

  • this movie freaked me out as a child...still does today. but in a way, its beautiful. <3

  • amazing movie!!!!

  • HAPPY BDAY MIYAZAKI!!!

    1-5-12

  • Is it only me but when I was little, I had a big crush on Ashitaka. XD

  • @ZehnBlack I take it you must have been pretty jealous of San then...

  • @Mrjmaxted0291 mmm... Yeah. Pretty much. XD

  • I watched this movie a couple days ago.... This is so fucking disturbing!

  • This is one of those Movies you "will" remember forever. I watched it when i was 8 and ever since then i can't remember seeing a better movie. It belongs to the top of the movie industry with lord of the rings, made in a time when everything was better. Here in Germany this movie can be seen every christmas in TV and i am watching it everytime.. and everytime it gives me the chills at the end and i am asking myself why can't the real life be like that.

I just got 18 and still love these

  • Princess Mononoke

    Howl's Moving Castle

    Spirited away

three favourite anime movies, so damn awesome!

  • @babaekids OMG yesterday i saw for the very first time Howl's Moving Castle and it rocked BALLS!!!!lolz!!!My favorite movies have to be Spirited Away and Ponyo.I love all Ghilbi Movies even if i havent seen most of them. They have such unique movies that American Movies cant beat. Its just that they are not creative when it comes to entertaining young kids including us teens:PThe first time i ever watched Spirited Away was when i was about ten but at the time i didnt know the name of the movie:p

  • first time when i saw this movie i was 4 ... i saw it two times in a row and i cried ... now i am 18 ... and i'm still the same in side .

  • OMG I finally found this! When i was 4 I remember my dad was watching this and the only thing I remembered from it was that it had black gooey demons and a girl with giant wolves. The wolves stuck in my mind up till now, and finally i'm 17 and I just found this O_O

  • @Splashstorm04 I know how you feel!!!Same thing happen with me, i was around 10 whenever i first watched Spirited Away on Cartoonnetwork but of course it wasnt showing the name of the movie so four years later *15 now* i decided to go on google and type in "girl who's parents turn into pigs" and thats how i found out the name.

  • @azulestars123 LOLXD omg! Yeah, and I really really wanna find this old anime i watched. It was about this girl who falls in love with a guy she had one convo with, and later she sees him again but she doesn't know that he died in war and she spends the rest of her life looking for him until she dies as an old lady and she became famous so he would know where to reach her, even. It was so sad and I really wanna see it again!

  • @Splashstorm04 Hi! I just saw your comment and I just think I know which anime you refer to, I think is the anime film Millenium Actress of 2001, it's just a hunch so better check it out first.

  • @hadaneva OMG THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!!!! It WAS that movie!!!!!

  • @Splashstorm04 I'm glad I could help an anime fan like me, greetings!

  • @hadaneva hehe Greetings back!

  • This movie, unlike other environmental films, does not say machines and cites and people are bad. The whole moral of this film is as long as technology and nature are balanced the world we'll be fine. In fact, this movie actually represents what's going on right now: there's no bad guy, but some people put their wants and work first and really don't notice that nature suffers with every ill decision we make. It really is important to balance using machines with preserving our environment.

  • classic

  • I remember, the first time i watched this I was very young and I watched this in cinema, so it beat the shit out of me. Nostalgia!

  • @Idjoq T__T ANIME FANATICS ROCK!!!!All of us have that nostalgia after rewatching an anime movie that we seen in the past but diidnt remember the name of it:P

  • Need some good anime to watch, any reccomendations? Already seen Howl's Floating castle, spirited away and this.

  • @tangypasta It's Howl's MOVING castle. God, get it right ;)

  • @tangypasta Watch Castle in the Sky, The Cat Returns, Naussica of the Valley of the wind, Porco Rosso, and watch Grave of the fireflies (Warning on that one) All them are studio Ghibli. and the warning for Grave of fireflies you will CRY until your eyes come out of your sockets..

  • @Angel0fDarkness78 what is it about?Grave of fireflies?

  • @azulestars123 Grave of Fireflies is known as one of the saddest and most heart breaking World war II Movies in the history of animated and motion pictures. It is not a movie for the faint of heart, great movie. But it is very very VERY sad...

  • @tangypasta LOVE SPIRITED AWAY!!!!I'm gonna try to get it on DVD!!Its like 30$ THOUGH but WHO GIVES A SHIT!!!ITS A CLASSIC!!I'm gonna when i get it watch it every New years eve and the new year day!!:P

  • miyazaki,the greatest animator since disney *_*

  • @cynthia949 T_T I totally agree!!!

  • Avatar reminds me of this movie.

  • @MrCapa1000

Me too! Cameron is a fan of Sci-fi/fantasy and animation and got ideas from this movie plus A Man Called Horse, Nausicaa, Castle in The Sky, Lawrence of Arabia, Heavy Metal, Fantastic Planet, LightYears (Gandahar), Willow, Dune and Star Wars yet was a nice homage to those films.

  • in english dubs of these films, they add things that dont belong. at 1:07 he doesnt say by hate in the regular version but in the dub he does. it isnt necessary! for some reason they cant just translate and leave the script alone!

  • wow i just watched, and god dammit blew my mind. A truly Epic Movie.

  • My dad thought this was one of miyazaki's kid movies.... It scared the crap out of me >_<

    But I LOVE IT!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • the japanese princess mononoke's voice is so much cuter :3

  • as sad as it is, this film is out of print since Miramax is no longer with Disney and Disney didnt pick up the rights to the film. so if you dont own the dvd, buy it now!!

  • @calkillingsworth

I'm sure since Lionsgate has Miramax i'm sure they might put it on Blu-Ray

  • is this a movie or a series?

  • @kiba100100 MOVIE :D

  • @kiba100100 its one of the top 5 anime movies of all time...right under ninja scroll and akira

  • The way he pronounces Mononoke irritates me lol...

  • @NeffNicole The way he pronounces everything irritates me.

  • @NeffNicole PRINCESS MONONOKIE

  • @Ardisious Uhm, your point in this comment -.-?

  • Mannnnn I haven't seen this movie in ages but i'm with @64talb when I think about it.

  • "and Billy Bob Thornton" ok im watching this movie immediately

  • Omg i loved this movie!!! if anyone knows where to get it please let me know!!!!

  • we were going to watch cat in the hat at school then some dude brought this instead and everyone really liked it

  • Great movie. Just watched it a couple nights ago and I'm not usually a fan of anime.

  • EPIC battles are EPIC :P

  • Was this film released on vhs in 1999? I know I saw this years ago when it first came out for rental, and I know it was either late 99/ early 00.

  • All Studio Ghibli anime is AWESOME I nearly got all of it of course this one, but they are on VCD [Memory as CD but has the bits of a DVD] and in Chinese all of what I got.

  • I think Anime is gay in general, but this looks alright.

  • @Beer1584 Anime is homosexual... you sound smart.

  • @Beer1584 you obviously have not seen this and spirited away

  • @Beer1584 Oh God how can someone be this ignorant...

  • @ClementineGranger look at his name, likely he's some red neck, and he's using gay as an adjective, which makes him an idiot. so i would give up on trying to use words to big for his mind

  • @ClementineGranger with the name beer1584 what do you expect

  • @Beer1584 ....Can't people just the word dumb instead of gay?!? Is that to much to ask!

You need to watch Sprited away.

  • I think this one was my first Studio Gibli film I ever watched. It turned me into a fan. :)

  • i'm watching it :)

  • watched part of this on 315 sky

  • For anyone who lives in the UK, they're showing this on Film4 today :)

  • @xbutterflywings yup in about 10 mins :D

  • @xbutterflywings haha yeah just finnished watching it!

  • watt the song at 1:50 ??

  • This brings old memories.

  • My god. WHAT a movie.

One of my all time favourites, for sure.

If you've ever watched the darker version, DO SO NOW.

And this is coming from me. A guy who doesn't really like movies.

  • @preceeding WHAT?! a darker version?

  • watched 3 movies of him...amazing. i like to watch every kind of movie and i am amazed of how many films are total crap. make less fucking movies but make them good. i sure went 70 times to a cinema and 50 times i was disgusted by the crap i saw

  • The Japanese are much better story tellers than people in the west.

  • @fleppleman well, i watched alot of animes, but i have to say that 85% of them is shit. If you watch Miyazaki yur watching the best of the best and yes, he is an amazing story teller

  • awesome picture. first time I saw it I pressed the replaybutton and watched it again^^

  • Many sides, a progressive town, an environment of forest gods, a town that coexists peacefully, an amoral monk. Kindness and hatred existing in all sides. Progression and technology had helped a small town and gave workers a meaning, and the environment had helped the world thrive. But now, they let their hatred abuse their potentials.

  • woah is this movie good? i bet its nothing as good as wolfs rain.... (howls)

  • @WhiteWolfWings It's better than Wolf's Rain

  • I remember watching this as a kid and thinking it was the weirdest shit I had ever seen. (I had never seen anime before then besides DBZ)

  • -Hey dude did you see Princess Mononoke?

    -Maybe,isnt it that cartoon....?

-Its not damn cartoon, its anime >:(

    -Its all the same crap.

    -....thats it,you are dead

  • @Bender2Rodriguez hate when people tell me its a cartoon when its a anime.. I should tell them they arnt driving a car.... its a wagon...

  • @Bender2Rodriguez By the hand of Kenshiro, he is already dead...

Kenshiro: "What hand? I need but a single finger for this one..."

    Cartoons, indeed.

  • one of the best anime movies ever, and i'm not even that big of a fan of anime!

  • And to think that Harvey Weinstein actually suggested editing the movie to make it more marketable, but a Studio Ghibli producer sent a authentic katana with the message:

    "No cuts."

I would've laughed my ass off if Weinstein had sent the katana back with the upper part of the blade missing along with the answer:

    "Point taken."

  • @SolidMike84 do you know if they allowed a cut version more rectenly. I was wachting the film in english sub on film 4 and realised that the film had been cut (the scence were she is spitting the blood from Moros wound 1 exapmle) and was dissapionted this also happend with the english version and I refused to wacht the film when I realised this both times.

  • @RandomChesseisBad

Such douchebaggery when they change things like that

  • this is a masterpiece no shitty hollywood movie like twilight can't beat this

  • @supersaiyanKiyo Twilight doesn't come from hollywood. It comes from the deep depths of hell!

  • I gotta to watch this one. It seems so adorable. Anyway shouldn't this been seen in original language with subtitle for those who don't speak japanese, i mean the whole spirit of the film gets wasted.

  • This movie is masterpiece. Any1 knows more deep animes like this?

  • What is the best Ghibli-film?

  • @zimonslot Spirited Away :D

  • Ahaha you know right away that voice belonged to BILLY BOB THORTON! :P

  • Her mom that wolf scared the shit out of me

  • I really like the movie it was great but I love the sound tracks...

  • genera un sentimiento muy agradable ver este anime no lo crren

  • esta es una de las peliculas de anime que para mi es una de las mejores de todos los tiempos

  • Does anyone know any latest(new) anime movies from Miyazaki from 2010 to now? List all please and thank you.

  • At 1:30 the white dragon looks like Haku from Spirited Away! Hoping to see this movie soon :)

  • I actually liked Ashitaka's English voice. It had that soft-spoken, humble quality. At least to me. :P

  • I hate dubs but this one was quite good.

  • There are things that still sound more natural in Japanese.

  • I was 6 when I first watched this. 3 words: NIGHTMARES and memories

  • English voices? bullshit. one word: Japanese

  • @jerkakame Weaboo

  • @jerkakame get a life

  • @pdrwood haha, learn a second language then English, noob american.

  • i remember this movie as a kid, and i still remember how much i appreciated this movie beyond an entertainment medium and still do

  • San is stunning beautiful

  • "Watch closely everyone, I'm going to show you how to kill a god!" >:D

I so wanna say that line once in my life! It makes you sound awesome XD

  • i saw this movie when i was 6 maybe less and i remembered some of the scenes that took part in the movie and now 9 years later i found it :D

  • ewwww princess mononoke's dubbed voice sounds UGLY

  • I don't like it that they make it all about the war. Also they give away a lot

  • miyazaki is such a genius!! i prefere the japanese voices

  • best fking movie ever, the best of hayaos! tho i love them all

  • this movie scared me so much when i was little

  • any other anime like this?:)

  • @mur667minus1 yes wolfs rain!!!! but wolfs rain is better...

  • I remember watching this as a kid, totally brings me back. :)

  • As far as I'm concerned, this is Studio Ghibli's greatest work.

The visuals are subtle whilst at the same time detailed and expert enough to put Western animation to shame.

the story was one of the best Ghibli's put out yet. An environmental film where both sides are in shades of grey rather than black or white, a rarity in any film let alone an environmental one.

I would put this up alongside the likes of Wall-E and Fantasia any day of the week.

    It's THAT good.

  • Billy Bob does a voice-over here? Really? Lol

  • All too often a movie sets good against evil, but this movie speaks the truth by showing us that it isn't so simple. Shows the good in both sides, and allows the viewer "to see with eyes unclouded"

  • Comment removed

  • i watched this movie when i was very small but i remembered the wolves. and i spent a very long time looking for the wolves i saw... i'm happy its a movie and not just a weird dream!

  • my favorite movie, i watched this movie when i was 5, i remember the boar thing with the messed up eye....idk

  • well im trying to get more into anime. real anime not just movies so i am going to watch this i have heard nothing but good things about it. and if anyone is interested in watching movies online for free just let me know

  • @IcePickSnowmanzzzz I'm interested! But are you going to give me a virus?

  • @TheFatty2497 no. i am not one of those ppl i have been there and done that in terms of trusting the wrong people and going to the wrong sites and i became fed up so i decided to find sites that actually work one's where you dont have to do stupid surveys or install sketchy programs on your computer. its all about the site and making sure it s safe so i understand your concern, but its really about the links in the site. if you let me show you where and how to watch movies you will be pleased.

  • @IcePickSnowmanzzzz Ok. At this point I had to download this dvix progam thing for a specific website, but it's gotten really annoying because it keeps giving me a pop up. I would really appreciate if you would share your links with me.

  • @TheFatty2497 GOD NO FUCK NO WHAT DID YOU DO! DIVX IS THE WORST THING YOU CAN DO TO YOUR COMPUTER!!!! ok ill send you a detailed msg on what sites to use and what to players to use to watch them on

  • @IcePickSnowmanzzzz Chill out. I already uninstalled it. Thanks for the help.

  • @TheFatty2497 VLC player beats all.

  • @TheFatty2497 i hope that helped :) i would have given you links but you really needed the 41 on how to do that. and if i did give you links they all would have expired because they constantly are changing something in these movies url so no one can track them.

  • Omg, i've been looking for this movie forever.... my social studies teacher showed it to us in 7th or 8th grade

  • i don't like that they put so much emphasis on the "epic battle" in the trailer which, in my opinion, clearly wasn't the important thing in the movie

  • @skaplis Agreed, but you know how the marketing of movies in America are. Most movie trailers are not what the movie really is b/c they are used simply to hook the audience.

  • Beast movie

  • This in my opinion is the greatest Miyazaki film ever made, and may very well be one of the greatest animated films ever made.

I wish so badly that Miyazaki or somebody from studio Ghibli would make another film in this style.

  • Fuck me i watched this while i was high and my god it was and awesome experience cause the movie is fucking awesome!

  • i remember i saw this movie when i was 5 or 6.... :S

i was shocked by that movie. ._.

now i'm 16 and i gonna watch that again and try to understand what is going on in the movie.

  • i fell in love with the princess... this movie was the best i saw

  • Me and my friends used to call the tree spirits bobble heads

  • hollywood 3d crap can never compared to this movie.
