this tablet is very promising. My friend got it and after playing around with it and watching him write a bunch of notes after just flicking the tablet on... one of the most convenient tablets around. Tablets are generally so limited in functionality. But the Transformer is particularly efficient as a note taking device and a reading device. As a student, that's a huge plus. I just wish it was a bit smoother as all honeycomb tablets aren't the smoothest devices in the world with a bit of glitch
hmmm... That connecting mechanism looked kind of weak. Aside from that though I would love to see this kind of keyboard docking solution for the ipad. Something that transforms it into a netbook.
Finally just what i what to buy, put it would put my acer Ferrari out of a job and it only a few months old :( so when its out maybe i will wait a bit, but i would so buy this over a normal table any day of the week
As for all the "why doesn't it run Windows" is because Windows only runs on x86 hardware while most of these tablets run on ARM: a different architecture. Its like running Windows on a PS3: the processors are completely different.
ARM processors are cheaper and use less battery, hence most tablets & mobiles run ARM (even iPad and iPhone). The Atom is not quite there, while the i5 models use lots of battery.
Microsoft have said that Windows 8 will have support for ARM but that's a while off.
There's no way it will run Windows, because it would have to be a CPU like an Atom - which is not supported by (current) Android. But there's still the Memo for Windows users, or of cause, a ton of other netbooks.
@MentalFS Why anyone would run windows on a tablet is beyond me. Microsoft themselves have said they don't take tablets seriously and anything using atom chips is going to have shocking battery life compared to ARM.
@cbader92 because Windows is a shitty operating system that is extremely bloated, and even slows down computers with the highest specs. Portable devices need lower specs to be portable and cheap, and Windows would run like shit on it.

But its not a PC, its just a tablet, why not just get a iPad and keyboard case???
channeljemal 11 months ago
@channeljemal price maybe? its 400 bucks without the keyboard, and i imagine the keyboard + battery wont be more than 150..
What you get? 16 hours of battery life, honeycomb and keyboard!
desbloqueoblackberry 11 months ago
@desbloqueoblackberry All models come with the keyboard.
eyeAMtwinkEE 10 months ago
@channeljemal Because that's just a tablet with a keyboard too?
eyeAMtwinkEE 10 months ago
@eyeAMtwinkEE But iPad is way powerful that that thing. Except that battery power, thats awesome.
channeljemal 10 months ago
@channeljemal Way more powerful, huh? Let's see.
Asus eee Pad Transformer:
1GHz dual core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor
1GB RAM
iPad:
1GHz dual-core Apple (but it's made by Samsung) A5 processor
512mb RAM
According to PCmag, both processors average about equal after being benchmarked.
So then we have memory (RAM). The Asus tablet is the clear winner in the performance sector.

@channeljemal More powerful? I hope you cleaned up after pulling those stats out of your ass.
