  • wow good catch

  • The desing of the acela is very old

  • i always loved high speed trains and i love american train horns, and the acela is a combination of those! so...i think you can imagine how much i love the acela :)

  • @Paljassus77 could you imagine the Acela horn on the ICE or TGV? They would be even cooler

  • @TheFlarmo What's a croccing?

  • what on earth is doppler

  • 10 to 1 odds those ditch lights were not working.

  • Wasn't exactly expecting a Freight Loco like Horn on the Acela.

  • BEST HORN EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Where are the "Auxiliary Lights" ... or, ditch lights ... or oscillating headlights. At all other places in the U. S., locomotives not so "equipped" must not exceed 20 MPH over public crossings. Is this photo area exempt? Why so?

  • @doodlejtr The acela does have ditch lights, but because of the position they are in on the side of the nose, you can't see them that well.

  • great sounding horn I have debated on buying a K5lA like this for my truck I wish i knew how these horns were pitched though I know its a K5LA or a K5LLA maybee either way its Awsome on these Acelas I will be on the Eurostar and TGV than ICE in December of this year but I still love these best I guess its the horns these are just the same as the new TGV I have shot pictures of in Paris France I was able to go into the cab of one of these one time in the Boston Amtrak yard once very hightech

  • thank you for sharing this great vid. i was downloading it....

  • it's funny - from a distance (i,e, 0:32-0:36), it doesnt look like theyre moving very fast - then they blow by.

  • Great Doppler!! Last I checked they're good for 60 through here.

  • Nope 75 over the crossing then again it depends on who ur engineer is.

  • Haven't been up there in 3 years. They must have upped the speed since then.

  • That was great!! 5*****

  • I could be mistaken, but it sounds very much like a K5L. Not bad, but not as sweet as a K5LA!

  • Did you happen to read the title?

  • any grade crossings where the Acela is flying by at max speed?

  • no, the max speed for any crossing is 100MPH at Palmer Street. The maximum speed for one at a crossing anywhere in the US or the UK is 125MPH

  • @AmtrakFanNEC927 these are cool I have yet to get up there and ride one of these at full speed I have been up about 100mph on the one I rode to Baltimore the fastest highscpped for me was recentlly on the German ICE train at 300KPH which I understand to be about 280 mph in our speed

  • @AmtrakFanNEC927 true, but miner lane is better because you get some winning horn!

  • Great horn action! Makes me wanna visit this spot some day.

  • Great video, what kind of horn is that?

  • Hybrid K5LA

  • Great video, looks fabulous in HD. Guess I'm gonna have to upgrade soon!

  • This will be going in the favorites!

  • This is on the New York to Boston portion of the Corridor, right? There's some amazing scenery up there. I'm sorry I couldn't see it when I was in the area.

  • Sure is!

  • That sounded like a GEVO whistle.

    MW

PS- those gates came down long before the train was in sight!

  • it is a BEAUTIFUL hybrid K5LA.

  • great horn!!

  • That horn was just bloody fantastic!
