I have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old Engine in good shape with todays ultra dry eco fuels: Use 1:100 API TC two stroke oil / fuel mix as regular driving fuel, that keeps the old fuel-system gaskets, rubber parts, alloy parts etc... and cast iron metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions. Most Porsche vintage owners in Germany do so :) Also keeps carbs and tank clean and rustfree
I have a 73 with 100hp motor 1679cc 69mm counter weighted crank, ratio rockers,100 cam,044 heads, ported and polished dual weber jet corrected ICT carbs and freeway flier trans gear ratios, I outfitted it with 165/80/R15 tires I was able to reach 105 mph at 5500 rpm.
nice.. ive got a 1970 beetle 1300... ive got 90 outta it going dwn the A5.. standard engine just a adjustments to things lol... hopeing to upgrade engine soon and get 100 outta it..
stock motor? I had a 2L in mine, but never pushed it to it's top speed, It would cruze at 65 mph no problem though, something that the worn out 1600 that it had before, had trouble doing
