  • I know your version very well;-) It´s great, lovely harmonies. Thank you Allen for sending me the vid and the lyrics. Maybe I´ll do this one, but as a faster Blues, with a little "clap your hands" feel, you know;-)

    Frank

  • Hi Allen: Thanks for sharing. Love this song on the guitar. Sounds wonderful. I'm hoping to hear some more posting of you on the banjo. Thanks again, have a good weekend. Gwen

  • Hi Allen, just listening to your version, and playing along with you;-)

    Very nice!

    Frank

  • @KeramikRockenfeller

    allen

    Abrazo hermano,

    allen

  • nice sounds....reminds me of tony rice's Shenendoah (sp?)

  • Wow Allen, what great tone on this one!

Fabulous- you really captured the feel this song needs. Great job!

  • Beautiful arrangement and really sweet tone on that carvetop. Must be a joy to play.

  • I have become very attached to this guitar. Thank you for your kind words.

    Cheers,

    allen

  • ears/eyes whatever, this is as rich in harmony as it gets, well done Allen !

  • Hey Freddy,

I think the drop "D" tuning fills out the sound on a melody like this. It is a timeless melody.

    Thanks for listening my friend,

    allen

  • That's one beautiful arrangement; beautifully done.

  • Hi Tony,

    Thank you.

Have a Happy and Safe New Year!

    allen

  • Very nice! I attempted this arrangement a few years back but it was too advanced for me then and probably still is. As always great playing.

Have a very musical New Year!

    Steve

  • Thanks Steve,

I think you will do just fine with this song. You are a fine player in my opinion.

    Happy and Safe New Year,

    allen

  • Very calm and relaxed version! I like it very much. I used to play a more swing/blues inspired version to sing along. But this is so contemplatively - I have to lean back and only be ear!

    Thanks,

    Bernd

  • Thank you Bernd,

This melody opens itself to a variety of styles. I would love to hear a swing version of this.

    Cheers,

    allen

  • @williamkenupp

    Thank you William!

    Cheers,

    allen

  • I agree with Frank,I'm also from the listening generation who didn't even have Videos back then, and in a way that's good because you're one and all ears. This is very pleasant to listen too,I love the openness and great over thought arrangement, very good tone also, greetings Maestro,Vic.

  • @Jazzguts

    Hi Vic,

This comment will probably get me in trouble with some listeners. I think video has had a bad effect on the quality of music being produced these days. Before videos a song had to sound good. A well produced video can make a horrible melody or performance popular. Perhaps we rely too much on what we see instead of what we hear.

    Thanks for listening,

    allen

  • Well Allen, sometimes we have to make statements for which we stand 100%. It's too bad others dis- agree. What are we talking here, Music or images for me those are 2 different things. I go for the Music, and I see probably all guys off our generation do, we're not going for a horrible present in fancy wrapping-paper, greets Amigo,Vic.

  • Vic,

You make this case far better than I did.

    Cheers,

    allen

  • @Jazzguts

Many video producers are trying to apply perfume on a turd, but it still is a turd. The discerning ear will not be fooled.

    allen

  • @carvetop01 Hah,ha, In Dutch we say: Een drol in Kado-verpakking: A Turd in fancy wrapping paper as a present, still remains a stinking Turd. It's a pity the moral is: A Turd smells good and tastes good because no one knows how to cook a decent meal and will settle for a fantastic Mac-Donalds heart-attack food, sorry, getting kinda cynical at my older age Allen.

  • Allen,

    Really sweet arrangement! Love it.

You put me in a trance.

    *****Stars without a doubt.

What guitar are you using on this?

    MV

  • @MisterVirtual

Thank you. Your words are encouraging.

I have a custom archtop made by Tom Ribbecke. He is a wizard with wood. Check him out on the web.

    Cheers,

    allen

  • Allen, I don´t need videos, I listen to music.....like all the years we did before, holding the LP in the hand, expecting the next song, you know....!

This is very nice, always interessting what comes next, where does he go, does he repeat? - oh no, a new facette, another chord-melody, super!

And always the melody in front. Wunderbar mein Freund! And you know the changes!

    Best wishes, Frank

  • @LONGWINDING

Thank you Frank. I agree with you. I hate recording to video. I find it very distracting. I will admit I enjoy watching your hands at work.

    Cheers,

    allen

  • Sounds great Allen very nice music 5*****

    Claude

  • @6K6R

    Claude,

Thank you very much. I admire your playing.

    Cheers,

    allen

  • Swings low and swings slow. Beautiful harmonies Allen. Thanks for posting this one.

  • @archtopbrownie

    Hi Lance,

    Thank you.

I think drop D tuning added a bit of fullness to this melody.

    Cheers,

    allen

  • Fine version!! Well done!!

  • Thank you sir!

    allen

  • Allen

Sweet! I like the voicings. Is that a "drop D"

    Tuning?

    Regards,

    Carl

  • Carl,

You have a good ear my friend. I think drop D adds to the fullness of a tune like this.

    Cheers,

    allen
