Hey Tex, just want to say this two part film really inspired me(A little more than the rest of your work does). The mesh between the music and the image really was beautifully done. Seriously you have great editing skills.
Thanks for the nice video. I just watched the moon tutorial on orbiter and I wanted to lear nhow it would be to plan a trip to Mars. Your video gave me the idea. Tks
I also know how diff it is to capture the sequences and edit with audio and still get a reasonable good quality. A simple animation of 9 secs of laser sabers took me 5 hours - 2 on video and 3 on audio ;-)
Nice. The closest I ever got to this was a mission to the moon. I didn't even land then, I just used the gravity of said moon to sling me back to Earth.
Since i was 6, i all ways wanted to be an astronaught... I'm 13 now, and still want to! This simulator just makes me want to be one more, and less. More that the experience will be like nothing on earth, and less that the fact that you stay away from earth, family and friends for a long period of time. And also that this looks majorly complex... But i'm going to have a go :D
@milltiaryman001 1) If you're talking about the learning curve, no time soon. If you're talking about game time, 3-9 months depending on how fuel efficient you are. If you're talking about real time, an hour or so with time acceleration.
2) Yes, but usually only one or two. You can dowload addon bases at orbithangar.
3) Not to my knowledge; that would be an awesome addon! (You can launch the shuttle normally in the base game.
You can download this simulator by googling "orbiter." First link
Really great job putting this flight together in an artistic fashion. Gives the viewer a real sense of actually going along for the ride on a real trip to Mars.
The first man to ever land on Mars, the mars rovers made those buildings and such. "You may now unbuckle your seatbelts and thank you for flying with Air Mars."
Brilliant! I enjoyed every part of your movie, because it looks fine when you use alot of onboard controllers, and your trajectories on orbits were found quickly and precisly - it can bee seen that you understand Orbiter very well. I hope you will make some more movies in Orbiter.
hi TexFilms. absolutly love the video and all the diting you put into it. could you tell me the link of where you got the mars atmosphere from what the addons bit says. and what editing software did you use (windows movie maker, sony vegas. etc.)
@MPKX 3 Months in the DGIV, hey compare that to the Apollo Capsules, in zero g there would be quite a lot of space to use in a DGIV. Like you though is use IMFD as well, but i want to learn how to use the other ones that come with Orbiter.
Another awesome film tex! Although I don't use Orbiter anymore I could never fully understand how to use transx anyone who can manage should be congratulated! Btw, where do you get your music from? The music for most of your films is really good!
Oh my God! I still can't believe that someone made such a great movie... Really incredible, I'm great Orbiter fun, but still I think that you're a real master in electing the best music to your movies, this is one of your best, next to Apollo 11 :).

im thinking of getting this game and i have a few questions:
1) how long does it take to get from earth to mars-in the game
2) are there bases on other planets
3) could you launch a shuttle from a larger ship-like in avatar

Hey man, great video! Inspired me to try my hand at orbiter - and now, a week later I've made my first Earth to Mars transfer.
That aerobrake is really slick. I'll have to try that, since I'm using a Hohmann and still eating about 80% of my fuel.

Ah yes, but the DGIV is not as slow to respond as massive ships. xD
