  • Thank you very much for your reply , and ,of course , for this beautiful performance, too.

  • @aquaguix1955 of course. and thank you ;0)

  • Is this instrument you played 3oct or 4oct?

  • @aquaguix1955 This one is 4 octave

  • How much does something like this cost to buy? and how long did it take you to become this good?

  • @megamegan944 they range in prices depending on the size you order. they come in 2, 3, 4 or 5 octave. It just takes some time and patience to learn the layout of the Array. I dove right in and somedays would spend 5 or more hours practicing. You can search Array Mbira and it will bring up the makers site.

  • I imagine someone with a smile, walking down a road into the sunset, carrying a small dog with him :)

  • i request friend of the devil

  • This is a very nice version of Mr. Bojangles. Did you copy some other version, or did you just come up with this melody on your own?

  • @ReasonSharp Thank you. I just arranged it as I felt. Glad you enjoyed!

  • this is beautiful! reminds me of good times :) thank you

  • You are awesome, I would seriously sit there all day and listen to you play....This song is so good! Wow... I think you just made my night, ahahha :D

  • you are truely blessed to have such talent!! that was very beautiful, a wonderful change fromall the noise that passes for music now-a-days...thank you for posting..

  • So, is there is there some kind of note chart, or did you just figure out the song by listening to the song?

  • @100fakeman no there isn't as of yet. I do just figure out my arrangements by ear. Fun ;0)

  • @puppetpatti

if this is the same thing i think this is what you are looking for

search thearraymbira and then go to the top where it system - it has note charts

  • I wish this was on itunes.

  • how did you come arcoss this insterment?

    real pretty verison btw(:

  • @darkxlight1000 hi. I found it while searching for something bigger (kalimba wise) When I heard the sound clips, that was it. I knew I had to save and purchase one. It has been a wonderful addition to my musical life! Takecare.

  • ahhhh. the beginning of this is in a movie. Not the actuall song either. it sounds exactly like this instrument. Its bothering me so much that I cant think of it.

  • Very nice! But it looks like it would be very hard on your fingers!

  • it is....

  • it's really like a very big kalimba.. i guess

  • I would give you 10 stars.

    Very well done!!!

  • So sweet..

  • you play this so well, I think you are doing a wonderful job and you should be proud and standing tall. All the best for the future of making wonderful music

  • that sounds terrific!!

  • wonderful. really. :)

    celestial sound..

i've got a mbira too, but it has got just 9 lamels.. eheh!

  • Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful.

  • oh, wow..very nice to listen to!

  • that is sick good job

  • Wow ... pretty amazing :)

  • Very harp-like instrument.

I do not think there is music written for this instrument anywhere that has been published yet.

For some reason, this song that puppetpatti plays on the array mbira remains my favorite of all the array mbira songs that have posted on youtube.

I love it when I can see all of the musician playing, not just disembodied hands.

Do you think it would be possible to sing and play at the same time? That's what I'm practicing on this instrument...it's quite tricky!

  • bravo

  • Wow, sounds really beautiful!

  • wow this is beautiful...... how did you learn how to play the mbira?

  • Hi,

I've taught myself this particular mbira. It's just sitting down and studying it, and lots of muscle memory too :0)

    Glad you enjoyed.

    Patti

  • I have to ask, Patti. Is there music written for this instrument, or are you transcribing these songs yourself?

I am absolutely delighted by your playing.

  • Hi,

There's not anything written out. I'm just picking out by ear and keeping in my head ;0) Hopefully I'll never forget the arrangements!

Thanks for stopping by...I so appreciate the support..

    takecare

    Patti

    Patti

  • Question- the metal looks like it would hurt your fingers, does it?

  • It is something that you get used to. Kinda like a guitar....fingers get used to it. Also, the tines (metal) are kept oiled so that helps too. Thanks for listening... :0)

    Patti

  • i love this song, and your version here is absolutely the sweetest one! what's that instrument called?
