a lot of cats make that sound for attention, i have one that goes in the basement gets on the rafters and makes that sound so you can hear him upstairs in all the vents he'll do it till you say his special nick name then he comes running upstairs into your lap

That kitty sounded like he was in heat, my girl kitty use to make the same noise when she was younger (she is not fixed) when she wanted to -ahem- mate.

@Texxy2009 I have a 21 year old cat who lost his sister at 18, he's been crying out like this for the past 3 years. The meow could be any number of things. However, if your cat is hiding behind the toilet and it's unusual for her, you want to take your cat to the vet. I had a cat that was in a HUGE fight with another alpha male and he hid behind the toilet as a sign he was about to pass. We were able to revive him by going to the vet. Best of luck.

@Texxy2009 You may want to take your cat to the vet. When our cat in this video starting hiding/sleeping behind the toilet he was on his last legs. Could barely walk any more at that point and had a couple of seizures where he'd just collapse randomly and such. When we took him to the vet he said he was in a lot of pain and had a lot wrong and we had to put him down :( He was 18 though so lived a full and very happy life.

This cat typically did the howling when he was looking for attention it seemed. As soon as he realized I was watching him he stopped howling and came to me for attention. When he was on his last legs he was having seizures and spent most of his time in the bathroom in the corner behind the toiler (our bathroom/toilet...not litter box). I hope yours has time left
@banitka72 thanks it probably was that, with old age its very well likely. my cat died nearly 3 weeks ago now. we had to have him put to sleep, because he wasnt eating at all and so weak. his bones were sticking out and didnt have the energy anymore. :( though he was still purring away. miss him so much :'(

My cat is female she is fixed she never had kittens .But she meows like that once or twice a day . After she meows she picks her stuffed toy and carry it to her bed.

@menoknow3 male's can also "detect" females in heat you know, even when they are not that close to them. Now about the age, I wouldn't know if they can still be active when old, since I'm no veterinarian, but still, sexual instinct is not necessarily lost when old. Take humans for example. And my comment says "probably", which doesn't mean I'm stating that my opinion is 100% correct, I was just pointing out a probability. Another one would be another male cat nearby, cats are territorial too.
@95stangdude Well he was fixed and he'd have those crying/howling spells 1-2 times per day...pretty much anytime he was in the same room with somebody and then that person left the room. He was just starved for attention even know he got plenty :P
@95stangdude Often times they make that call because they are lonely and looking for someone (owners, other pets, etc.). My cats do it all the time when they can't see me and they are fixed.
My cat used to do that at night. I'd go to bed and she'd be sleeping, then she'd wake up in the dark and couldn't find me. She'd howl until she woke me up, then I'd call to her and she'd come in and sleep in my bed with me. She was 19 when she died. I miss her terribly and will never forget her.

I had a cat that used to do this every time you left the room she was in. My wife and I used to have to draw straws at night to see who had to get out of bed and go out and grab her and bring her back into the bedroom. She seemed to do it only if she was alone in a room. If she left the bedroom at night to eat or poop, she wouldn't come back in she would just sit in the living room and cry until someone came and got her. Unbelievable.
Aww he was so cute and had a cute meow I thought. I know how you feel, I had a cat when I was 4 named Peeper and I had her until I was 21, she was 17 when she passed away. That has been 2 years ago now. Having a cat that long feeling like part of the family, it is hard to lose the pet but it gets better in time but of course you never really forget them.
OMG THAT i s what my cat dose. hes normaly not a needy cat, hates to be held, touched., scratched. petted..you name it. soo when he began doing that at 5 am everymorning we were freaked out at first. i litteraly jumped out of bed and to peer over my bed to see what was wrong the first time i heard it. i thought maybe he was sickk..in pain? no. he just did that as a way to wake us up and feed him. hunger pains we call it now.

@menoknow3 male's can also "detect" females in heat you know, even when they are not that close to them. Now about the age, I wouldn't know if they can still be active when old, since I'm no veterinarian, but still, sexual instinct is not necessarily lost when old. Take humans for example. And my comment says "probably", which doesn't mean I'm stating that my opinion is 100% correct, I was just pointing out a probability. Another one would be another male cat nearby, cats are territorial too.

@95stangdude Well he was fixed and he'd have those crying/howling spells 1-2 times per day...pretty much anytime he was in the same room with somebody and then that person left the room. He was just starved for attention even know he got plenty :P

@95stangdude Often times they make that call because they are lonely and looking for someone (owners, other pets, etc.). My cats do it all the time when they can't see me and they are fixed.

My cat used to do that at night. I'd go to bed and she'd be sleeping, then she'd wake up in the dark and couldn't find me. She'd howl until she woke me up, then I'd call to her and she'd come in and sleep in my bed with me. She was 19 when she died. I miss her terribly and will never forget her.

my female cat whch is a litttle bit older and smaller than my boy cat attack the boy cat because she thought it was him. the boy cat is a little bit bigger and younger can't fight her because she is undefeatable.

I had a cat that used to do this every time you left the room she was in. My wife and I used to have to draw straws at night to see who had to get out of bed and go out and grab her and bring her back into the bedroom. She seemed to do it only if she was alone in a room. If she left the bedroom at night to eat or poop, she wouldn't come back in she would just sit in the living room and cry until someone came and got her. Unbelievable.

Aww he was so cute and had a cute meow I thought. I know how you feel, I had a cat when I was 4 named Peeper and I had her until I was 21, she was 17 when she passed away. That has been 2 years ago now. Having a cat that long feeling like part of the family, it is hard to lose the pet but it gets better in time but of course you never really forget them.

OMG THAT i s what my cat dose. hes normaly not a needy cat, hates to be held, touched., scratched. petted..you name it. soo when he began doing that at 5 am everymorning we were freaked out at first. i litteraly jumped out of bed and to peer over my bed to see what was wrong the first time i heard it. i thought maybe he was sickk..in pain? no. he just did that as a way to wake us up and feed him. hunger pains we call it now.
