  • they were at a hotel across the street was an insurance co. mutal of new york flasing on and off that where they came up with the title

  • GRAN TEMA DE 1968 MUY BUENO.-

  • I like the version of it, but I'll never understand 60s hair styles...

  • Oh my fucking god. I always believed this song was originally written by Billy Idol. OMG, i love the original too, awesome tune!

  • @Quilbo lol I guess you never listen to 45's back in the 80's lol from your parents collection

  • Well I deem my posting to be a SUCCESS!

  • @henrysgigs1

its fun to listen to oldies now and then!

  • Look at the Neru Jacket! I love it :)

  • I love this video but and there is a but.Tommy James has not aged well,NO,NO,NO,N0,not at all.Does not deter from the cool music he made.

  • Cool !!

  • Hahaha "psych-garage-bubblegum 60's pop rock". I never knew that's what the genre was called, but I sure love it! :)

  • Fantastic song!

  • It's the 60's again Saturday morning watching the music vids on TV

  • Great dance song makes me want to do the Jerk or Monkey.

  • bring Quentin Tarantino here. He would love that song!

  • i hate to say this but i like the billy idol version better

  • i saw this same video several times years ago in black and white.great classic tune.these promo film clips are awesome.on that last person who commented on this, wouldn't surprise us if movie theaters use stuff like this back then, because there was no music video channels back then.

  • I don't know if this is true or not, but I once read that they couldn't find a TV series willing to play this video, so it ended up being shown as an opening short in movie theatres.

  • I was the only boy of five children,me and my 4 sister"s used to act liket hey was doing this song,i was like 4 years old,my sisters sang and played air guitar,I sit on the back of the couch in my whitey tightey"s beating pot"s and pan"s,we were very poor but we had a blast.I loved those days of innocence and rock and roll, thanks Tommy James for a very beautiful memory.I still love this band.

  • omg i just commented on a dif video with theese guys and now its up to 3 songs that they've done origonally that i herd els were i wonder how many more they've done

  • t.j. & the s'dells put on nehru jackets and try to keep up with the times...kickin' 45 rpm record but the album was taking over by this time as The pop- art form. end of an era record

  • is this bubblegum, yes. Is this psych in anyway? no. Their dress and trippy background visuals are attributed to trying to fit in with the trends of 1968

  • Back to the '60s...awesome decade for music...the early '70s too

  • What's this teenage metalhead doing here? I grew up on this crap! Haha still love it!! (:

  • Tommy James and the Shondells I Love All Your Music & Have Every One Of Your Hits! You will forever be Amazing to me I Love You!

  • MON y MON y MON y - Tell ME why I hate MON days TOMMY......yeah

shoot 'em down, jump back and ride the PONY -ed

  • Tommy James and the Shondells, and Andy Kim played at the CNE Bandshell in Toronto, Canada, September 3rd, 2011. It was fantastic! I got to meet Tommy before the concert. He signed my Tommy James dvd. He signed 8 LPs for a fan. Tommy is such a nice man that you want to meet. He came down to greet the fans during his Mony Mony number.

  • Tommy James is in the hospital. I guess he fell down and broke his hair...

  • Tommy has a lots of hair. But he looked great.

  • Billy Idol ruined this song! I always could not STAND his lame version! But it was good for Tommy....probably got a sizable royalty check for it haha!!

  • i have seen one of these clips and the thing that cracked me up was towards the end of the song these words scrolled across the screen . : goddamit mony , ride the fuckin pony

  • this song defines high school for me

  • such a great song use to roller skate to this

  • I could see this video messing with someone on hallucinogens with all the jump cuts.

  • It's not fair to compare Tommy James and the Shondells with the Beatles but you have to recognize their influence on many bands for decades thereafter. They rocked then and they rock now.

  • Hey motherf*cker, get laid, get f&cked!

  • @boomshanka Always hated that stupid chant in college during this song! It especially came out during the rather LAME version that Billy Idol did....oh brother!

  • Is that a Dr. Evil jacket?

  • @maplespak Why, yes it is!

  • @maplespak Actually, Dr. Evil wears this jacket. Tommy James ROCKED his.

  • @maplespak Actually it was a nehru coat.. so popular at the time. I had a leather look nehru dress, which I wore with my peace sign necklace. LOL

  • @maplespak It's a Nehru jacket!

  • @maplespak lol I remember the guys wearing these jackets in high school....wow deja vu! what great times they were...

  • @maplespak No, that's what they called a Nehru Jacket. I used to have one in black. They were in style for about 6 months and then they looked ridiculous and everyone stopped wearing them. haha

  • how about here she comes now Daniella monet monet! lol

  • Comparing The Beatles to anything is useless. They've been on their own cloud for years.

  • You be Mindless.

  • A catchy, but rather mindless, dance tune of the '60s. The only thing that can be compared to the Beatles is the rather groovy Nehru jacket that Tommy James is wearing, and which the Beatles also sometimes wore. The Beatles were innovative and changed music -- probably forever. Tommy James had a decent band that had a couple of hit songs. The Beatles were far superior.

  • HEY

  • The editing was pretty good with the guy playing key board and clapping not missing a beat till about 1:30, still great video

  • what happened to this guys?

  • the dude on the guitar looks like mr checkov

  • this band was great as good if not better than the Beatles. luv it :)

  • Great!! @ 1:20. Love it!!!

  • "Mony, Mony," by Tommy James and the Shondells

The band had the song, but needed a two-syllable girl name to stick in the lyrics. That's when Tommy James happened upon a Mutual of New York Insurance Company sign that had a dollar sign in the middle of the "O" and noticed that its acronym was MONY.

He and his songwriting partner had a laugh about what a great name MONY was for such a company, and ended up calling their fictional girl "Mony."

  • I Love his songs, i can see why he sold more singles then the beatles

  • Born on that tune...

  • oh yeah wish I could live in this clip/video

  • @CIGARPIGSKIN6 Me too!!

  • used to boogie to this when i was 2 or 3 years old! fuckin fab tune!
