Like you all saw in the real video there at the ending were no coffee, but only coins. The trick is that coins are taking some space in the bottom of the cup, i would say about half or 3/4 of it. So when these coins are pushed up, the coffee goes down. But why coffee didn't went over the edge of cup. It's simple the fake bottom could be a cribble or something like that. That is why he didn't give the pot of gold to that little dwarf who just needed some coins.

A real magician wont use the same trick over and over no matter how amazing it is.

As the fake bottom rises the diameter of it decreases in relative space to the inside diameter of the inverted cone shape of the cup thus allowing the fake bottom to act as a pressure relief valve. Air pressure from above the liquid would increasingly force the liquid past the outer edges of the  fake bottom.
