Thanks for the kind words. No, JR runs a tight ship and drivers, guards and station staff follow strict rules. If you look at my other Shinkansen clip you'll see the same thing from both the train guard and the guy on the platform. What they do is make sure the platform's clear and that the overhead lines are OK before and after each train movement. It looks a bit strange to us in the UK, but it certainly works!
