Jeff, I found your song by mistake, I was looking for Tom Waits' song of the same name. Tom Waits released the album Bone Machine, (which contains the song Black Wings) in '92, the same year you wrote this. Anyway, your song blew me away mate, truly moving. In my opinion, songs such as this are everlasting and if the human race survives, we'll be singing songs like yours.
yeah, sometimes the most dreary, mundane activity can inspire some good work. the body is on auto-pilot and the brain can wander. thanks for watching!
Great piece of songwriting, Jeff! I also once worked on an assembly line in the 90s, packaging computers. I remember now that one of the guys on the line often sang during work which definitely made it more endurable.
This is Southern gothic in the old William Faulkner sense. Get a hold of some Jim White who epitomises this style.
You don't get nothing for free, 'less of course you steal it, at least that's what the people say. The sad irony of Love is how so seldom you feel it, yet it's all you dream about, night and day. From the splinter in the hand, to the thorn in the heart, to the shotgun to the head, you got no choice but to learn to glean solace from pain or you'll end up cynical or dead.
it's a small filter sponge. it mellows out the tone and takes away some of the "plinky-plink". my early videos were all done with the sponge. thanks for watching!
congrats on the 100 subs. i can relate to the song. my mother worked on a conveyor belt for almost 40 years and told me stories about that. later on, when i was a student, i tried it out myself to make some money and started understanding what it meant when a machine becomes your master. -- awesome song!!!
very reminiscent of Angels of Light
