as the old saying goes, 'you get what you pay for'..owning a generac, a rusty housing should be the least of your concerns!..i have seen and heard more horror stories of 'their' cheap (china made parts) engines popping with little hours on them
Looks like the consumer SNAFU. A dealer / qualified installer would have suggested the aluminum enclosure for your area. But it does cost more for higher quality enclosure. Must have been purchased @ the box store huh?
I just upgraded my 8kw to 20kw same style, aluminum case, no problems here.
Sounds like you need to talk to your installer/dealer and find out whats going on, its probably your geographic location as stated above. If that doesn't work take it to court, don't knock great generators, mine has saved my butt twice this year with two week-long outages.
I live in the Ozarks, lots of rain, lots of humidity, 5 years into my first centurion I have seen no signs of oxidation.
Not that you should....but why don't you simply repaint it if the machine works well?

how close is this generator to the coast?
If it had been aluminum, it would not rust.
mrredman333 2 years ago
you must near the ocean or salt water, the aluminum series does not rust.
