  • Mid-section sounds like it should be in the Armored Core soundtrack. Don't take that as an insult. It certainly is not.

  • this record is da shit i have the original copy go techno

  • @numanuma20 You Know What It Can Take More Talent To Make Techno Than Rock Or Pop When All You Have Is a few Different Electronics You Need To Work Hard To Make It Sound Good And Why Are You Here If You Dont Like Tech House Think Before You Comment

  • @1gamerkid111 I know what it takes to make a techno song. You need a either a hardware synth, midi keyboard, sampler, computer, drum machine, turntable, mixer, audio interface, and recording software. Yes I know how hard it is to program a synthesizer because I have one and still don't understand what all the knobs and switches mean. I know that even soft synths can be a hard to program, but that's not the point.

  • Respond to this video... If you listen to this song you will notice that the main instruments in the song is the simple drums loops, synth rift loped, and vocal loop. Add in the effects and you have the formula for a techno or any electronic song.

  • @numanuma20 Well Even If It Is Simple Mabey Ian Knows That Mabey He Was Trying To Make A Song For People To Dance To Rather Than Analize It And I Will Admit That I Enjoy Just Listening But If You Don't Then Then Why Are You Here Commenting In The First Place

  • @1gamerkid111 I heard the daft punk remix of it and wanted to see if the original was as good as the remix.

  • @numanuma20 OH SHIIIIIIIIIII- DAMN!!!!!

  • Ummm. Cymbals

  • still have this on vinyl... love Ian's work always. house music all night long.

  • i knew this track was from the 90's by just listing to it

ahh the 90's it was soooo fast sooo good

this decade felt like a century that wouldn't end nor change

  • This track is like water in my soul

  • does anybody also recognize parallel g in this song

  • meh, i like the dp one more.

  • The original + the bass of daft punk's remix = solid gold.

  • i have this track...great one

  • B Side - "A Distant Code" is a great track also :) to the guy looking for the track ID I am too have this pic on vinyl but no IDs...sorry mate

  • i like both a hella lot DP is my favorite ever but this song is awesome

  • people will always compare...shit.whats the point...this is better...that is better.how old r u people.15 if this tune didnt exist that wouldnt either.

  • This is very techno-y, Daft Punk's remix is so much better, way funkier!

  • Actual. Detroit. Techno. FTW.

  • i think the daft punk remix is better because this sounds like a broken record

  • Got this on a picture disc featuring the artwork above, looks as good as it sounds!

  • why is it called chord memory?

  • @ghpwner719

    Why not?

  • @ghpwner719

Because he's playing deep chords. Take a good old analog synth, play a deep chord, use a vocoder and/or phaser as FX, tweek it and you're done!

  • @ghpwner719 Chord Memory is a function that you can find on alot of old synthesizers. It means you can assign a chord to a single key and it is responsible for the sound of alot of deep house and techno in the ninties. It sounds like he used it on this track aswell to get those staby chords.

  • this track has always been a favourite.. the sequence that enters (the chord memory/phased out part) abour half way into it is awesome. classic deep and moving!

  • Rock the disco tech, UEURH!

  • is that a plate on the album cover?

  • rock the disco tech uh

    idk

  • Im Bouncing like hydraulics. This tune is bouncing me. Yh, feel the rave.

  • This should be on Ibiza's Chillout Dance Anthems or Ministry Of Sound Chilled House Anthems. I love this tune to be on either of these compliation albums by Ministry Of Sound. This tune has good synthesizers.

  • i really miss the bassline from daft punk's remix...

  • Its like driving a car whilst the music takes you on a drivetime. I love Drivetime Dance Anthems with this sort of sound. So good.

  • Ravey.

  • banging!

  • I've got the picture disc. Nice

  • I like both, 2 very different sounds.. both are candy to my ears

  • I like both :D

  • I think the original and the remix don't really sound alike. So I'm having a hard time thinking "this is better than that".

  • The daft punk one is better

  • this song never gets old

  • I prefer the Daft Punk remix.

  • Youtube sucks.

  • OH NO NO NO I LIKE DAFT PUNKS MIX BETTER THIS TRACK IS MAD BORING AND REPETITIVE

  • k, guys! most of the songs remixed are better when originals, this is better than the remix (im srry dp i love you!<3) but keep in mind they just did a remix, so yea... no hates right?

lol this is awesome quality nice! id give u props if i could ^^

  • @xmonkeyhobox no i listen to a LOT of remixes and some remixes are better and some remixes suck compared to the original

  • @huntstephen hmmm... I thought i just said that... But whatever, i agree with you anyways.

  • why'd ian pooley turn into such a cheese dog this is classic techno !

  • Inspired from original detroit techno

  • I think that this is awesome, but the Daft Punk remix equally so. Both are mind blowing.

  • @riff5fki Yeah Id have to agree. Like they both have thier own style.

  • I used to love playing this out, back in '95/96. But what I always wanted to know is which synth Ian Pooley used for the lush sweeping chords that your hear every 4 beats. I'm guessing it's a similar keyboard that Basic Channel used. To me, this is what a proper polyphonic synth should sound like and I'd swap my Moog for one any day !!

  • WHAT KIND OF MOOG DO YOU HAVE? AND THATS A JUNO-106 I BELIVE

  • daft punk makes this origional suck when they remixed it

  • yeah got it on vinyl =)

  • Stomp yr feet...!!:))

  • wooooww

  • that`s my clock on the wall!!

  • Fucking awesome track!!!!

  • indeed

  • This is House. Daft Punk's Remix is awesome, and has more bass, but it just can't compete with a classic house track like this. When i listened to this for the first time, i was like, Fuck this shit Dp's versioin is better. But after so many years, you create a different view on things, and also on music. This track is just mind-blowing from the beginning, and I consider this track as one of the coolest tracks ever made.

  • @Martijnnaber Both are great but its true, this one just blows DP's out of the water.

  • This is what I call "BIG ROOM" house and it doesn't get any better than this.

  • This Tech-house or Minimal Techno ??

  • This is progressive techhouse shufflechord Detroit-inspired ragga minimal bleepbloop.

Does it fuckin matter? This was the just one way techno sounded in mid 90's

  • sample by???

  • If you never sat in a dark room with headphones on, only lit by the red light of your stereo receiver and listening to tunes like this unless you are dizzy and the weirdest thoughts go through your mind, well then I pity you. You missed something.

  • brilliant.

  • Nope, but Daft Punk did a remix of this. It's on their Musique Vol. 1 album

  • listen to both end of!

  • Truly beautiful.

  • This is great! As for Daft Punk - my favourite remix of theirs was the Gabrielle "Forget about the world" track

  • i love Mothership Reconnection the best :D.

  • @TheSonicMidgetRF Their best remix is Mothership Reconnection.

  • aw man that one is awesome, especially when they did it in their alive 2007 concert

  • For me the daft punk remix is better. But this rocks too!

  • I totally agree with youngsinful. Daft Punk is great in every sense of the word, but I just think the original Chord Memory is just a tad better. Don't get me wrong though, Daft Punk's remix is still worth listening to

  • =( this makes me feel bad.. x[

  • I thnik this is a rare case where both the orginal and the remix are awesome.

  • i have to say the orginal is kick ass, but Daft punk did a excelent job remixing it

  • the daft punk remix is awesome but the original always sounds better and im a die hard daft punk fan.

  • Daft Punk made this song a little better in my opinion but it is still awesome

  • I CANT EVEN FIND THE ALBUM ON EBAY!!!

i always try to find an mp3 of this but i end up finding the daft punk version. its like no one even remembers this

  • Try discogs

  • I hadnt heard the original of this before.. its very good

  • oh gosh man !! instant classic ,take me back to 90's when techno was still innovative , imaginative ,colorfull .

  • NOT really techno? Ugh god.

  • Ugh, no, you misunderstood me because i improperly worded that last comment of mine, THIS is techno, that is playing now...the Ian Pooley Chord Memory song.

I was last thinking of tijamath's comment "...was still innovative, imaginative, colourful" and i was thinking of music i considered similar to that, but its not really considered techno, its more breakcore & jungle and experimental which was the two artists i mentioned.

    sorry for the misunderstanding..

  • Daft Punk mix is very weak in comparison to this in my opinion.

  • remix the daft punk is much better!

  • this original is much more better than duft punk remix

  • Huge! Massive! 90´s revival inevitable!

  • daft punk only made this excellent track more modern

added stuff that are used now

not as straight up house as it is

    both are veeery goood

    in their way

  • Both the original and the daft punk remix are very different, daft uses much more "kick" in the beginning, and then uses the vocals to make it shine. Although this original rocks too!

  • i love it

  • classic

  • Rim Shot at the start is the best

  • It's originally from the Chord Memory EP that's linked in the description, but, it's also from an album called The Times.

  • @gatlar28 you make no sense

it has nothing to do with trust?

  • @julianbinder123 I made enough sense for you to write back and try to pick a fight. By the way, what has nothing to do with trust? Complete sentences would really help me address your petty concerns.

  • @gatlar28 no, it made no sense

which left me and some other people on a forum confused

your comeback was lame trying to make yourself look smart

anyways it was awhile ago but you wrote some wierd thing about trust with daft punk or soemthign and it made no sense

    or at least explain??

  • @gatlar28 nope daftys remix is better

  • @gatlar28 lmfao "not right to trust daft punk" HAHAHAHAHAHA

  • @gatlar28 I dont mind the DP version personally... but this one is more Techno thats for sure...

  • Bumpin club track

  • where do you download those tracks?

    i really like 'em

    thanks:)

  • top quality track!!!

  • both songs are great, daft punk mix nd Ian Pooley!!

  • I have this LP. It's a picture Lp. It's a great, great tune!!! Every time whem I play my sets, I like listen this track!!!

  • i actually really prefer this over the daft punk remix. not that the dp mix is bad. just this...phwoar!

  • they do sound a little bit similar though, but not much, just the beginning 10 seconds and the discotec part is similar but still its a good song. DP did well on their remix! i like this one too

  • Question is, when is Ian Pooley going to produce more gems like this again?

    Celtic Cross was also classic.

  • so this is what the original sounds like.

  • it's not that much different.the chord sound is different.and one the "rock the discotec" sample doesnt sound as annoying as it does on the daft punk remix..not my fave of either but both good.

  • so thats what the guy says lol

  • masterpeice...

  • the original is fuckin quality, daft punk done a nice piece of work on this tune but it doesn't live up to the orignal

  • Total respect!

  • Hopefuly it doesn't since the daft punk one is A REMIX :-) They're both awesome though.

  • no, im saying people cant really say 'the original is better' because daft punk's sounds nothing like the original. you cant judge it against the original because they sound nothing alike, whatsoever. ;/

    idk, maybe im rambling. xD

  • you can judge a remix in comparison to the original if you want to, just as a measure of how creative and referential the remix production is, but of course you should also listen to the remix as a piece of music in its own right. I think the sonics of the remix are much better, much tighter and crisper, but the original stands out as a really innovative piece with an intense progression that sounds more coherent as a 'song' than the remix... IMO

  • I love Daft Punk but i think this, the original, is better!

  • I have to agree. The original is far, faaaaaaaar superior.

  • tbh I love both, theyre are so different I can't say one is better than the other. :)

  • LOL is not the remix is hot

  • @alexdaftpunk91 Apples and oranges .. no ? I can't help it, I absolutely LOVE the Daft Punk mix. It's so perfect. One of the best basslines in house EVER !!!!

  • Like It, But of course the daft punk remix is better.

  • OMG...I still play this Record since 1996.

I wish everybody had listend in the late 90's to Ian's music. This is just the perfect way to show people these days what we listend to.

    Thanks for this.

5 Stars and of course my respect .... Damn good

  • You should try to find the Daft Punk essential mix on radio one from 1997, there's a lot of good tracks in it including this one.

  • Ian's best

  • One great track, first heard it on kiss 100fm with Colin dale, it was slightly faster though of Vinyl

  • pretty good.

  • one of my favoritos trackos. ian used to rule!

  • one of the best techno music
