nobody was killed! I worked on the wharf right out of view and was the first to call 911 and there were no kids just one very drunk lady and her dog. everyone was ok (but the boat) it was her fault and the sadest part about it is they didnt pay to have it pulled up so its still down there and can hurt someone elses boat (and it was her alcoholic boyfriends boat!) . it was one very wrekless alcoholic doing something stupid and had to deal with the consequenses!!!
I missed the explosion, I was watching this from the jewel box area up above the railroad tracks parallel to Cliff Dr. and have some of it on film myself but I arrived right after the explosion, really cool that you got it on film though you know it took the Coast Guards Fire Fighting vessel based in Monterey about an hour to arrive? Nice Footage though!!!
Hmmm, that's pretty good time (20 kts + whatever in seas) considering Santa Cruz fireboat was where? Oh that's right, the Harbor Police guaranteed retirement package. Protect to collect.
That is not only someone's boat but someone's home. The explosion was fire was caused by the boat's onboard propane tanks. Propane is heavier than air, and if it leaks into the boat, it fills the boat and expells air before you know it, boom. Very very sad. The propane detector did not work or they were not on it. Sad.
Spectators are total wankers!
