  • If god needs to be defended, he isn't worth defending. Any being who cannot defend themselves is not worth defending.

  • Actually we do know what was written on the first set of tablets. There are about six chapters of rules written on the front and back. Both sets of 10 commandments are on then.

  • @shadywolf91 In other words, your god is about as consistent as he is real.

  • @cessna7035q My god? o.O I said the Christian god. And no he isn't very consistent.

  • Gods some real shit bitches y'all gone burn

  • @DrakisClaftine you iz sum reel krishchin wit ur shitty inglish lol

Seriously, you're trying to represent a religion. Try not looking like a retard in the process.

  • God is fake! !!

  • What is interesting is that in Deuteronomy 5, it mentions the other set of Ten Commandments. Or at least that's what Christians believe, but Deuteronomy is demonstrably false. Not only that, but we do know that the first set of tablets had over 4 (20 to 24) chapters of rules on them. So 43alley is wrong when he says that we don't know what was on the first set. However he does make a very interesting point. Exodus 34 follows the story. Deuteronomy does not.

  • dey took our gaaahd! hurpa durr

  • This is a fantastic little video, but it ends too soon. There's a gap in my understanding now because I still have the 'traditional' commandments burned into my brain from sunday school as a child. You know, the coveting of asses and stuff. The final version of the commandments that is shown here is mostly completely foreign to me, and I suspect 99% of western-educated Christians.

So where did the modern version come from? And when? Are they listed elsewhere in the bible?

  • Now I know why that guy screaming at the beginning was so mad. He was utterly committed to stamping out the milk-boiling of goats that has become ever so popular in modern cuisine.

  • "Don't boil a goat in it's mother's milk?" Oh shit! Oh shit! Oh shit!

  • @RadarKat73080 Don't tell me you did it ? You may have hope yet you can start looking through the various translations surly one of them will fit the bill , you know stir fried in mothers milk with roasted garlic means boiled in Aramaic or...?

  • @denisasitis Funny, to me at least, that some people feel the need to rewrite the Bible, ex. Conservative Bible Project, to fit their own theology. People have been reading stuff into the Bible for thousands of years. A few months ago I read a post, on the FSTDT website, someone claiming that Xians didn't have to pay taxes. Twisting Jesus's "Render unto Caesar" quote completely around.

  • @RadarKat73080 I find so much of it, most in fact, funny. Being a nonbeliever that is familiar with the textsI never find a shortage of absurdities. The CBP l, as if it isn't conservative enough already, Is brought to us by the folks at "consevapedia" , for a good laugh one cab compare almost any entry , conservapedia against wikipidia and see just how far we have taken this foolishness.

  • So God created the universe and everything in 6 days...

But it takes him 40 days to scribe some words on some stone...

  • @SlashDotDash121 Well, Yahweh was younger when he made the universe.

  • lol That musical thing at the end

  • great video

  • Dammit, I've been making cream of baby goat soup incorrectly all this time. I think I'm in deep trouble.

  • God changed his mind about not killing I guess.

  • The craziest part of the ten commandments protests was seeing supposed Christians bowing down before a graven image that says right on it not to bow to graven images. They are arguing that these tablets be placed next to the usual statue of the goddess of justice that adorns our courts. And the guy says in the video, to people who want to take his statue, "take your hands off of my god!" Just when you thought the very depths of hypocrisy have been reached, someone goes further.

  • Since the actual Ten Commandments that 43 talks does not say to kill people and Christians say morality comes from the Bible, then Christians have some "great" morality when their god says that they aren't forbidden to kill others. They are also allowed to covet apparentley in the actual commandments, too. And since the NT talks about not lusting and coveting people, then there is another contradiction among the many already present throughout the Bible.Yup that's one smart god alright.

  • I can make a crapload better commandments.

  • 18 male oxen disliked this video.

  • Holy shit. I had no idea!

Great! More material with which to cause cognitive dissonance in the theists that I know! Hahahaha! :D

  • Out of all the religions, the abrahamic ones are the most idiotic ever invented.

  • great video!!!!

  • Ha! this was excellent! made my day. Good job, and thanks!

    Peace and love yall!!

  • Funny Fact:

At my elementary school, when the teacher read this story, she claimed that they were simply worshipping Yaweh, but didn't know how he looked like. She also left out the part where Moses kills thousands of his followers.

  • I think this is the video that has sparked the most debate at my workplace. And guess what? I haven't lost the debate yet. At risk of over-inflating, this may be this most important video on YouTube.

  • @teamtalon1967 - I'd like to hear more about your workplace. Sounds like an interesting atmosphere.

  • @43alley his workplace is probably a lot like mine, i live in in north dakota and pretty much everyone i know up here thinks the bible is 100% the word of god without stray. they think dinosaurs walked along side man, there was a flood, bla bla bla. i've gotten to a point of being a sarcastic ass hole, i've been told evolution is a lie, so i go off about how gravitation is a lie, germs are lies, etc... i work with mentally unstable people

  • @teamtalon1967

That may be over inflated but it is up there.

Problem is Christians don't read the Bible they just skim to where they are told to go and cherry pick. I have argued with many and quote some of the utter stupidity or evil, they are genuinely surprised and don't believe it is in there. This is the great thing you can beat them to death with there own absurd myth book.

  • 8:07 by the way.

  • That remix at the end. I want that. But on iTunes and in a longer version

  • When God gave the ten commandments to the people, He knew that we were sinful but for our sake he gave them to mankind to show us that we are sinners so we could see that we needed Him. People to this day think that they can earn a place in heaven. The law was so we could see our sinful nature and turn from it and follow Him.

  • @MrMprincipe Did you even watch the video?

  • @MrMprincipe: "The law was so we could see our sinful nature and turn from it and follow Him"

Fuck you and your imaginary god.

  • ohhh at 7:16 , hmm nvm i wasted my time with you.,

  • In the comment you mentioned at 5:50 "didnt God said thou shall not kill"., according to the bible, these people were not used to the new law., they were in slavery,..so that maybe answers your question.

  • is it just me. but does the god of the bible seemel like some sort of demon trying to fool humanity to think that there is only one god?

  • @Sash-He 'does order the killing' of said 3000 - to prevent them from causing further mishaps. So you say its okay a mass murderer just explains= I did kill 'the said; 3000 your honor. Just to stop them from ...what? from "further Mishaps"? Like what mishaps? worshipping other peoples' gods which it says it false and instead Moses' own.Its called Fanaticism. Fanatical mass murders. No mishap can be worse than that? Its like saying Nazis did holocaust to stop more mishaps! Like 'Israel" u mean?

  • Ask 10 people to recite the 10 commandments and see how many of them actually know what they are. Its been my experience that the biggest bible thumpers know the least about it.

  • is the remix on youtube?

  • What a great video. lmao.

  • Yahweh's laws are so practical and moral , they guild us in the affairs of reality

    [/sarcasm]

  • dude, you fucking rule.

  • Broke Tablets as soon they were in hand becos..Moses wanted "to take the punishment from the people onto himself." That is by slaughtering 3000 of his community with whom God has a covenant, after breaking Tablets so one can check whats in it, and taking punishment by asking his Levite butchers to slaughter 3000 of them at one go ! Can you belive thsi absurdity in 21rst century as an apologia?

  • @Aron51869 Are you serious, man? Apologia? I am describing a popular interpretation - never in my comment did I say that it's what I believe. For the record, there isn't any god. The main thing you overlooked, though, was apparently the biblical text where Moses asks to take god's wrath upon himself. By commenting on things without even being able to get the facts right you're not doing yourself any favors. He does order the killing of said 3000 - to prevent them from causing further mishaps.

  • FYI: The modern hassidic interpretation is that Moses must break the first set of tablets because if he were to deliver them to the people while the calf was in the camp, the covenant would instantly be broken and God would destroy the people. Breaking the tablets gives Moses a chance to plead to take the punishment from the people onto himself.

Anyway, good job on these vids.

  • there's no thou shalt not kill explainiing EVERYTHING

  • kill 3000 man? lol, the sacred 10 commandment only took minutes to be broken, and by the messenger himself.

  • 1:08. Just plain sad.

  • at 4:00...take out the slavery from your wives & children. you brought this up yourself. and the idol is "liberty" not freedom.

  • @FlyingAxblade and "kill the snitches"....nuff sed

  • @FlyingAxblade

and then god punishes them for breaking out the slavery...you brought THAT up yourself beyach.

    Freedom and liberty are synonyms

  • i like the jingle at the end

  • Problem is inabilty by a beliver to read between the lines. This story has many contradictions. Thou shall not kill is at once reversed in slaughter. It is later explained- for carving an inage for false gods. Thou shall not kill but slaughter if they worship other gods we must read? and from where? the books his followers pass on and not the tablets? so why mention such a tablet? well...unless you understand Aroan's people of the cow are narrating these tragedies under Mosaic regimes? think

  • @Aron51869

and god is a volcano too right?

We know how the bible was written pretty much, the pentuch did from an oral tradition that evolved over a long period by many groups, hence there are lots of 'contradictions' in it

  • The Ten Commandments in the Tablets is broken by Moses with his own hands. Just immediately after God gives it for mankind. Then the law not to kill- is acted upon by slaughter of the 3000 levites by his men. All for worshipping some other god. And no one notices the Laws are broken literally., and he takes on the role of Law maker- and no one wonders what could have been the original laws? save what this breaker of tablets and rules and mass murderer says it is !! All that is ungodly?

  • I'm not a fan of the old King James, it's been replaced by better translations but better one aught to work in the ancient languages and critical thinking. I once asked a Jewish bloke if God spoke the narrative parts to old Moses. He said God dictated it all. I guess critical thinking is a problem for many. I think the idea of progressive revelation works better. What have we go now? btw. your comments are smarmy ;) Tidy it up youngling. :)

  • @aerycksmusic

passive aggressive cunts who think they're not being insulting because they use clean language piss me off, you old bastard. Ironic too since you're a smarmy bastard in this comment. Way to avoid the issue since this point is true in all translations - what you think they translate out a whole story? You're doing the "your criticism doesn't apply to me so it doesn't apply to anyone" BS; many people accept only the KJV, this is obviously meant to attack THEM not YOU so STFU there.

  • They just love to see the commandments; they don't keep them.

  • It is generally thought that the only reason that you should break a commandment in any way is to preserve another commandment. in this case to protect the commandment of "you shall have no other gods"

  • retarded christianity is retarded

  • brilliant vid as usual,

  • ALL religion and belief in supernatural entities are crap. Any sane human being knows that, just as we reject the idea that santa, hercules and all the other thousands of Gods from history are f)

  • dude check out micheal rood his a torah teecher and yes an creaionist but he explanes the boil the cow in milk and other things,i advise you not to troll and ceep you obeyens to your self wile in his domane, (ya i know my spelling is not so well, oh well.) we atheist wont help you wile you go in there. good luck, & may zous be with you.

  • Moses lived in Egypt for years, and so he took on the Egyptian principles of Maat, which is a whoooole bunch!. The commandments are very similar to the prinicples.

  • christianity is retarded

  • @kakashitachi99 now that certainly is mature of you isn't it.

  • @kakashitachi99 the commandments are from judaism.

  • @TheGoogler77 okay, religion in a broad aspect then

  • @kakashitachi99 judaism and islam are too. Other religions are wrong, but they are kinda intresting.

  • @kakashitachi99 You insult the retarded with those words... After all Christianity is more a choice type of thing.

  • This was confusing. I enjoyed it though and now I will have to do some bible reading to follow up about the 10 commanments

  • Leaven is, like, yeast and shit. Festival of weeks is, like, harvest festival and shit. Eating meat with the milk of it's mother is, like, bad and shit. You're supposed to burn the first born ox or sheep, and shit. Feast of unleavened bread is, like, passover and shit. We're all supposed to go to, like, temple and shit three times a year, and shit. The first fruit is supposed to be left to rot, and shit. Lots of shit in the commandments.

  • What was Moses doing up there for 40 days? Bad enough god didn't just come down, show himself, and drop some stones on the people, but it took GOD 40 days to draw up some tablets of the most common sense rules ever? Then throw some typicll god jealousy bits in so no Moses could rule them all.

  • Hey 43alley thanks for your videos. If only i could have seen them 20 years ago.

  • In my german bible Exodus 34:28 says "the ten words", not commandments.

I'm an atheist myself, but I thought it's dishonest to keep quiet about that.

  • @hjjubnh Interesting... so somehow "word" and "commandment" mean kinda the same thing in the Bible. Gives a new spin to "In the beginning was the word"...

  • The Hebrew word דָּבָר (transliterated as "dabar") translated in English versions in various places as "word," "thing," "matter," "acts," "chronicle," "commandment," "saying," etc., most like has a different meaning that the Greek word λόγος (transliterated as "logos"). It's interesting to note that λόγος has the same etymological root as logic and the -ology ending of science words (like "biology") in the sense of "study."

    therongjr 1 sec ago

  • @hjjubnh The Hebrew word דָּבָר (transliterated as "dabar") according to the concordance at BlueLetterBible seems to literally means "things spoken" and is translated in English versions in various places as "word," "thing," "matter," "acts," "chronicle," "commandment," "saying," as well as in miscellaneous ways, including "mischievous." (?) This doesn't sound like dishonesty to me.

  • @hjjubnh It's the same in french "Les dix paroles" but he mentions "ten" in all languages and no where else in the old testament where they mention "Ten" than at Exodus 34:28. And that is enough for me. Facts speaks louder than words!

  • @boumar19721972

Okay, no problem! It was just something that caught my eye so i wanted to mention it. Never said the vid was wrong or s.th.

  • @43alley at about 6.38 you were cut off by the other voice.

  • Sadly, the guy at the beginning of the video is a representation of my whole family :/

  • 9 in roman numbers is NOT Vllll but lX.

  • @paperfreeck - See (1) the annotation that appears on the screen at the same time as that image and (2) the description to the video discussing this.

  • @43alley Oh ya? I dint know that ... I was just listening didn't see the annotation. Thanks!

  • @paperfreeck Actually, you can notate it either way.

  • @paperfreeck BEEEEE careful, you almost were thinking then! (Jesus Don't want u 2 thinkfvsgdestev)

  • Perhaps those people wishing to keep Ten Commandment monuments in courthouses would all like to have a tapestry with all the lines from Leviticus sewn on it and held up just behind the Commandments? Perhaps also, the Levitcus Tapestry could have a blue fringe as well?

  • This begs the question, 'where did the ten commandments as we know them today come from?' Care to do a sequel?

  • @torbs37 It was earlier in Exodus that the rules people call the ten commandments were given, people just sifted through what sounded good in that passage and made it up themselves. He mentions that part in this video.

  • @torbs37 the church leaders spin everything because the 10 commandments is such a BS... so they took some commandments of god like thou shall not steal kill and so on and make it the 10 commandments...

  • tell me "put it back " remix is on itunes! lmao

  • i wonder if god has good handwriting

  • Well... Good Job,Sir. Nice to you to put some light on things we may not know. keep on, please.. Peace

  • @43alley @luishomeroremohsiul turns out i had like 27 tabs open in my browser...that was the problem D: srry

  • @1HelpingMany Every sock, I own is made of cotton, with elastic sewn in, should I pray for forgiveness every day, or is once enough?

Nor does any of my clothing have 4 corners,

I also broke my leg in a crush injury, am I forever forbidden from going to church, or is ok once it heals?

If I kidnap a good looking girl, but I forget to shave her head, will God forgive me?

  • So then why didn't God, after Moses broke the original stuff on the tablets, just put the old one back together? I mean... he's God, right? :\ Why spend another 40 days/nights doing all that work again?

  • @Crystalyne14 It would have been a lot easier just to appear the the entire group of people and God could have just told everyone saving a whole lot of time.

Though God for reasons of his own, seems to appear to people, alone with out any outside reference or witness whatsoever.

  • @Craigmw45 That's true. Maybe he could have invented tweeting early and everyone could have followed him.

I've noticed that, too. It creates a big lack of credibility, I think. Especially with the understanding that 'visions' can also be fabrications created by your own brain if you believe it hard enough.

  • oh no! I'd better take that baby goat off the stove and replace its' mothers' milk with her blood or something :O

  • moses broke the stone tablets because it was symbolic that the children of israel had brokern the law!

  • question to all-are the commandments a good code to live by?

  • @andymcq2509

"George Carlin The Ten Commandments Broken Down" reduces the common commandements into just two commandments. The actual commandments are obviously pretty useless. Number 9 is even cruel.

  • Great video 43alley. I have yet to make it to the ten commandments story in the Torah because of the sheer boredom of reading everything leading up to it. Is there any factual basis for accepting Moses` existence and the story of exodus?

  • I love the sounds you make as the laws are being laid down. Makes me giggle.

  • llolollol. i love this video

  • Wasn't Indiana Jones told in the movie that the ark contained the original tablets that Moses had broken ?

  • What... the... F***

  • Moses was the Union leader in Egypt. He demanded more wages & food from Pharaoh. But Pharaoh rejected his demands. Then He made a story of Exodus against Pharaoh.

  • @ynrldh "Then He made a story of Exodus against Pharaoh." and whats even worse, Moses made it look like that the egyptians abused them. But the Pharoah covered their dental, and weekends off, with medical coverage too, but Moses got greedy so Pharoah was forced to bust the union.

  • @emancoy Labor Union leaders always nuance the In-charge of an Industry or state. So there was heat argument between Moses & Pharaoh. actually Moses was jealous on Pharaoh's constructive thought. Pharaoh paid Beer & Bread to the labor in Time. But Moses instigated world's known first LABOR STRIKE. This Labor strike caused fallen of Great Egyptian Civilization.

  • @ynrldh

Ia'm not Alley but I can tell you that by my knowledge, although there was a historical basis for the exodus story, it was not nearly as impressively described by the Egyptians as it was by the Jews.

  • @Quintinohthree Yes! Jews were the labor class in pharaoh's regime in Egypt. They made all artistic jobs in Egypt. But Moses demanded more Bread & beer. So he instigated strike & Jews are still suffering due to that strike. if Pharaoh had paid them proper bread & Beer, it might possible, they still building & crafting temples & Giza.

  • @ynrldh

    Wrong adress I see,

  • In responding to the standard theistic claims that their God is "perfect" and that "His creation has fallen short of His glory", should all realize that only a bad workman always blames his tools.

  • The probable reason Moses was gone 40 days and nights was because he had to manufacture the tablets with hammer and chisel.

  • im a christain in the uk but the ones from the U.S are very extreme compared to us here we dont push it in your face

  • Wait, does proving that christians know next to nothing of their own faith even still need to occur? hasnt that been proving dozens if not hundreds of times before?

  • I love these moments of reflection where you look at what is thought as an established truth of Xtianity and you come out of it going WTF!? It was this same feeling of shock when I first found out a) the gospels did not come from the Apostles and b) they were written decades after the events. Awesome video. Can't say how many times I've wartched it so far.

  • dex1391 has been on this video too? And failed to provide any reason for his claims when asked? What a shock.

  • @NoNamesLeft0102 - So he's a prolific troll then? He's not very good at it.

  • @43alley You could sort of say that. Look up his name with BionicDance, CoctopusPrime, AtheistExperience, or anybody else who replies to comments on their page. Repeatedly uses his old arguments after they've been destroyed, goes with, as BD put it "Nah-uh" and can't provide support for why he has that position.

  • @43alley The reason the Law of sin & death or more commonly known as the 10 commandments were given was,..... wait for it,..... to get SIN TO INCREASE!! So all the people who desperately try to live a good life by following the Law of GOD make a mistake, because if you believe the bible,... then you will see that in the book of Romans 5:20 that the law was given to cause SIN to INCREASE. if you want to know more about this my name on you tube name is Rangoon03.

  • I thought that the constitution said that the government couldn't promote 1 religion over another?

  • sound very metaphorical to me. the goat and the milk thing i think means insest. boil means hot. mothers milk is like of same a child mixing genes with the same family he was born from, a metaphor picture to prevent procreate genetic illnesses from inbreeding. i don´t think the ten commandments are meant literally.

  • @coldarc "Seethe a kid in it's mother's milk" = incest. Interesting take, coldarc. I never heard that one before. I always assumed that passage must have referred to some arcane pagan ritual. Incest does make more sense to be a commandment. Still, pretty sloppy language to be so metaphorical in something so important, right? You'd think God would care a bit more about being clear.

Still, really I want to thank you for sharing that interpretation.

  • @Crunchy68 Google the term "Kutti Pi"

  • @tchjdaedn Please forgive me for pointing out that you phrased that as an order, which to me seems insulting. I'd rather have been asked, than told to do something.

That aside, I did look up "Kutti Pi": an Anglo-Indian dish made of an unborn animal fetus. (See how I didn't make everyone else here have to look it up?)

I don't see the connection, directly. It did not say it would be a kid boiled in its mother's milk. And are you saying Philistines are descended from Anglo-Indians?

  • 43alley - thx for posting this series, I can honestly say it BLEW MY FRICKEN MIND - just stumbled upon it after giving Thunderfoot the flick for his rabid anti-islamic rants.

  • Wow... bigoted atheist sure do have a lot of free time.

Seriously get a hobby. You have no idea what you're talking about.

  • @dex1391 - I do have hobbies. Several of them. Where am I wrong?

  • @43alley

If you're not going to at least open up a bible...

    Don't make videos about it.

LOL... I thought this was a SNL skit...

  • @dex1391 - You can do better than that.

Tell me, where am I wrong.

  • @43alley

Well... you have no clue what is actually IN the bible

Tell me have you ever actually seen a bible?

I know you've never opened one.

When you end up in court... Check out the one in there.

  • @dex1391 - I still think you can do better than that.

    Tell me where I'm wrong.

  • @43alley

    You're wrong...

Tell me where you got your biblical knowledge.

It's obvious you've never taken a biblical studies class... now have you

It's amazing that no Christian shares your strange interpretations of the bible.

    You ever wonder about that?

  • @dex1391 - Sigh, still not going to tell me where I'm wrong, but only tell me THAT I'm wrong?

"Tell me where you got your biblical knowledge."

Raised in the South. Attended a private religious school.

"It's obvious you've never taken a biblical studies class... now have you"

Yes, several. I'm also an autodidact.

"It's amazing that no Christian shares your strange interpretations of the bible."

Google "Ritual Decalogue vs. Ethical Decalogue" and read the first cite listed.

  • @43alley

Ok... you're lying now. I guarantee you didn't get these odd interpretations from some unknown religious school down south.

  • @dex1391 - Are you just going to chide and poke, or do you have any desire to have an intelligent discussion?

Are you going to offer anything here?

Did you read any of the Google search results? Did you even look?

And for the fifth time ... where am I wrong? Specifically, where am I mistaken? Don't just say I'm wrong or that I don't have the resume to comment on the Bible. Tell me exactly where I am wrong in pointing out the Decalogue problem.

You next post. Right now. Tell me. Go...

  • @43alley

I don't need google.to tell me how to read the bible I've actually studied it and know a lil more about it than you do.

  • @dex1391 - Then what's your take on the Ritual Decalogue vs. the Ethical Decalogue?

  • @43alley

You're talking about the 2 possible biblical sources for the 10 commandments...

And the church has already put this to rest.

  • @dex1391 - Oh, "the church" put it to rest ... well I guess that solves that, doesn't it?

    Which church is that?

  • @43alley

What do you mean which church?

You really have no idea what you're talking about do you?

If you're going to post videos at least try to comprehend the subject matter...

  • @dex1391 - It's like arguing with a Magic 8-Ball. Ask it a question and await one of the possible answers:

"You don't know what you're talking about"

    "You're lying"

    "Ask again later"

    "I'm not listening ..."

    "I guarantee that's not true."

    "Because the church said so!"

Go troll somewhere else, 8-Ball. I've given you plenty of chances to discuss things.

  • @43alley

LOL typical response. When you have no real answers... I guess you have to resort to insults.

  • @dex1391 You are seriously an idiot... Read your comments, and just needed to say that

  • @pete9490

Insults from a redneck like you... meaningless....

  • @dex1391 Define a redneck... 'cos I wouldn't believe to be one... But doesn't matter... You Insult this man, who clearly knows the bible better than most christians, accuse him of lying, and then refuse to tell him where he was wrong... calling you an idiot isn't an insult, it's pointing out a fact

  • @pete9490

Blah blah blah. Don't need to hear it from you. Lying redneck.

  • Story of the ten commandments is very similar to the one about Joseph Smith and Mormonism. Writes holy stuff out, screws up, writes another set of words and claims them to be similar - but any simple visual check shows these claims to be false.

I'm not sure whether I should laugh or cry. Facepalm maybe.

  • Lol, the guy with the sticks is in there. I'm glad that guy was resurrected.

  • "Someone better tell the catholics" LMAO +100 Thumbs up

  • I`d like to rob that guy in the beginning

Give me your ten commandments, your bible and your Faith

    asshole, this is a stickup!!

  • It wasn't written, it was carved by lightning by, yea, God.
