I'm really interested in seeing what way Fellowes writes Branson's political beliefs as the "Irish problem" was happening alongside world war one. When I read the series was started in 1916, my first thought was the Easter Rising, not the Battle of the Somme. Which goes to show which country I live in. Plus me and my sister were debating whether it would be alluded to and not, and if it was it would be interesting to see a British viewpoint on it.

Julian Fellowes has adapted several events from the real Highclere - perhaps he will base Sybil on the aristocrat Constance Lytton (of Knebworth fame). She supported women's suffrage & her health was wrecked by force feeding in jail. Her father forbade her to marry the man she loved because he was "lower class". She remained unmarried. Branson, of course, may decide against fighting in the British Army but return to Ireland to fight for it's freedom especially if Sybil has doubts about him.
I agree with @aube74 there wasn't any mention of Sybil not reciprocating Branson's feelings. Also 1 part says that Sybil doesn't only have to consider her own heart but someone else's too- and that combination with work & family is baffling to Sybil. Allen said that Branson will question Sybil after she returns from training as a nurse. Sybil did say "Maybe in the future, but not now" , so maybe series 3? Pack says that Branson is "crazy as ever about her". *fingers crossed for S/B*
@LadyPhantomhive1875 I do think that series 3 will probably be where this couples relationship maybe goes to the next level. It seems, from the other interviews Allen has given, that Branson will be back for series 3 , so that's good news.:D
I loved this clip though there wasn't Sybil in it. Press pack is great. I think the stakes are up against S/B happening straight away now in series 2. However, I think that S/B will get enough *hopefully* screentime to show how the chemistry between works and to develop more their relationship (ie series 1, their friendship bloomed off-screen). Big obstacle in the way for S/B will be the taboo associated with their cross-class relationship & Sybil's fear of being disowned by her family. :)
great teaser from an adorable (and super talented) actor. too bad we have to wait till 2012 on this side of the pond to find out what happens next. thanks for posting!
I don't think that Branson will be drafted of will join, at least that what I've gathered from the teasers and bits that they've leaked so far. I'm have a not so good feeling about the Sybil/Branson romance, it seems he will be a love sick puppy and she won't be interested, although I do hope that's not the case because I love them together.:D
@aube74 From what I've read I think the road to their romance won't be easy either, but Allen Leech said viewers will continue to see sparks between Sybil and Branson. There is a whole packet you can download with information and cast interviews about series 2 out there...
@2009socalgal Yes, the press pack is great. I do hope we see some sparks between those two. They're already talking about series 3 taking place during the roaring 20's, so that will make for some interesting twists and turns.
@aube74 I just read the press interviews again, and it doesn't sound that bad. The actress simply said that there are social and family obstacles for Branson and Sybil. And that despite Sybil having feelings, she knows that it is risky for her to have a relationship with him due to perhaps her family not speaking to her or cutting her off. Something to that effect. But I don't believe she said in her interview anything about "not" returning his feelings. So I'm looking forward to them!
@greenleo111 Yes, from the comments here I'm feeling more reassured :D. WWI will probably change Sybil in many ways, series 2 is probably only the buildup to series 3.
Thanks for posting the clip! What does Lady Edith tell Tom Branson before he says, "I'll cross that bridge when I come to it"? And I would so much rather see him teaching Lady Sybil how to drive! Love the Branson/Sybil pairing!
@aube74 Thank you! Oh, meaning if he is drafted, then he won't have this job anymore. I hope he'll survive IF he is indeed drafted! I'm looking forward to the Branson/Sybil romance!

Branson is in for a big disappointment. No way Lady Sybil is going to marry the driver.
